They are from this African (Mali) photographer named Malick Sidibe. He has some amazing stuff, I was turned on to him by a photo exhibit set up right outside the radio studio at UCLA when I did the show there. Let's just say that now those pics are hanging up in my room at home (as well as becoming the cd covers for my imperial dub mixes).
Do a google image search of his name, and check out some of his stuff!
