What would you like to see more of at parties?

What do you want to see when you go to a party besides the DJ?

Visuals? Props? Dancers? Fire? Naked midgets?

Or what do you want?

Cheaper drinks? Cheaper admission? Better security? More relaxed security? No security?

More hook-upz... records, CD's, shirts, hats, drink tickets, tickets to the next show, ex. That's a good way to get people in the club earlier to see the new talent.

to once again be able to hear a set without an MC.

Don't get me wrong, I love MC's but must we have an MC over every single set over the course of the entire night.

Oh for the days when an MC was listed as performing with a DJ, not 6 MC's listed for the entire night.

Cheaper drinks are the ticket. When I go to LA or anywhere for that matter I don't want to pay $7-$9 dollars for a Jack and coke. It's 9 f**king dollars at funktion. Thats weak.

these are all good suggestions...so far we have:
naked midgets w/glow sticks spinning happy hardcore
urinals at the bar
and more visuals along with more stuff to hand out

sweet ass. i will see what i can do...

other than that i myself would like to see cheaper drinks, more girls, and more art! along with a little store setup in the corner where people who are performing that night can sell CD's shirts and VINYL!!!! we need more artists selling vinyl at there shows! along with dope shirts. and maybe a little section where there is a bed and two hot naked chicks make out all night yea yea...

I dont think there its wrong for HALF NAKED GIRLS with the boobs popping out at shows. Some girls like to dress sexy and slutty. we shouldnt discriminate if a girl wants to dress sexy just like we shouldnt discriminate if there was a bunch of bboys breakin and girls wants to come break. SO I SAY

Cheaper drinks for sure. I like the free admision before 11 thing too. more of that. Some Dubstep would be nice too.

would like to see Dubstep in the rooms alongside, or even better, jungle. Lots and lots of jungle makes me happy

Also, I don't care about drink prices, but when it's 5 bucks for a bottle of water because you can't get any free water - then I have a problem.

more people eager to support homegrown talent instead of complaining about promoters not bringing UK headliners.

mumblz last 4 or 5 tunes have had huge hardcore breakdowns in them, keep your eye out they're heavy

I would like to see more people dancing and being there because they are really into the music and arent just going to see if the person playing isnt as good as themselves.

it's ironic that we're talking about dnb merging with gabber...my track on the death brigade split breaks down into gabber halfway through, because i'm an old school gabberhead and i love s**t like that.

well I've never been to a L.A. party but I can tell you what I'd like when I do.

1. A/C! promoters get your s**t together hours before the show so the venue has time to cool.

2. Affordable Water! no bottle of water should cost more than $2. $4 for a 16oz bottle of water is unethical just plain greedy.

3. More diversity in music! every dj has their style, ask them what they plan on mixing and organize accordingly for a unique vibe.

Thats enough for now, I could go on but you get the point. Promoters do it proper or don't bother.

1)Better systems. (drum n bass not drum n treble)

2)Guys and Girls that are well taken care of.
(Instead of the lost ravers looking for a place to be faded)

3)Diverse crowd(drum n bass needs to grow and move forward, outside of our small world)

4)More selection, different genres so that people can ease thier way into dnb( again to a more diverse crowd)

5)More shows with the heads that started our scene instead of paying over priced dj's and diverting attention away from our own
(by over priced I mean for the scene not for thier art/music, I think we as artist deserve 110% but our scene isn't going to grow unless we invest into ourselfs, our events, and our supporters)

I'd really like to see fans. I used to love the fans at Respect back when it was Martini Lounge. Beyond a/c, walking past a big breeze from a fan can be SOOO refreshing. It can give you that burst of energy to dance just a little bit harder and longer. And you know how we love hard and long.

I also would like to see more dancers (poppers and bboys). What happened to making space for circles? Damn. No hoochie dancers on stage, please. If I need that, I'll go to one of "those" clubs, or better yet, go to Cheetah's and see some nearly naked chicks that can actually scale a pole upside down.

I also think it's really cool when people have gear (clothing) for sale, even if it's just a big stack of the same t-shirt.

Drink prices in LA are, for the most part, going to stay high. Rents are extremely high at clubs, and money needs to come in somehow.

Safe parking would be awesome (if possible). I hear too many stories about peeps and their cars and their person.

Cool security -- meaning they act as if they are tying to keep the peace instead of work off some of their steroid rage.

Oh, and more mixed genres sounds good.

And I love chill lounge areas where you can actually sit and speak to someone you haven't seen in a minute.

1) Booths or a table or even the table/booth where u pay to get in to have artist (esp. local) mixes, gear etc. for sale or for free whichever they choose. DJs/Artist bringing their music to shows to sell/distribute. A pack of 100 CDs = $25, if ur performing and sell each CD for like $1 at the show, if u leave them at the booth/desk and sell them all u have an extra $75 profit.

2) More live sets recorded and put them out (with tracklistings), even if just online. More video coverage! With the advent of YOUTUBE.COM we should have a s**tload of clips (even if they are like :15, :30+) of our events/artists up. It helps with promotion of ur event for the future (people see and are like "damn that looks like fun"), helps with promotion of artists ("damn so and so rocks it live") and makes people seeing it like "next time i have to be there and bring a friend!!!"

3) Longer sets for local DJs. An hour is cool but some of the best sets i have heard from some of our local guys have been 1.5 - 2 - 3 hour sets and unfortunately they have all come out of town and haven't been witnessed by many LA heads. Then you get to truly see the diversity of a DJ. IMO a dj who would play 2 hours of stormers = lame, 2 hours of liquid funk = boring, but 2 hours of a set that can contain a Limewax tune somewhere in there and a Zinc tune is diversity (plus most times in longer sets u get ol skool s**t in there and i love tha ol skool)!!!! I commend Respect cause they do give local DJs no matter if ur opening or headlining at least 1.5 hours to bring it. How about having a club night were it is like A Night with CRS? or Machete or Scooba or XXXL or Nightstalker..... It would be dope to see/hear some of our DJs be given 1.5-2-3 hour sets because we have some diverse DJs here in LA.

4) How about getting like 3 friendly guys/girls at ur (promoter) show to have people fill out a quick "Yes/No" checklist of their thoughts on the show. Did you like the DJs? Was the environment comfortable for you? What could we improve for next time? blah blah... Most times after parties everyone congregates outside just chatting, use that time not only to hand out fliers, but maybe get good feedback from people! In many cases not everyone at our shows are in js.com or online to voice their views on an event they just went too. It is dope to get feedback on js.com and other sites on shows but 90% of the times it is from people (myself included) who are "inside the box" of drum n bass (don't take that term negatively, i just can't xpress it better). But if it is "casual dnb headz" we are trying to attract or people to "convert" then we need their feedback. Maybe they weren't digging something that we usually take for granted or point out something we wouldn't think of..... I have been to clubs where people fill s**t out to get free booze or cigarettes or sign up for contests . . .we should do the same to learn and adjust our events.

5) collect emails at shows and do email blasts. obviously get people's permission to do so, but most people will be down. only Respect (that i know/get email blasts from) does that now and it makes it easier for myself to just pass the info onto my friends who are on email and so on.....

6) More 2x4s on the decks. i like back2back stuff, but a lot of times it is just to get more djs on the bill (which is totally fine), but 2 djs on 4 decks keeps both djs busy and the crowds attention cause u don't know whatz coming next and mixes could be quick/long, sets could take a right turn at any moment etc.. this may be just be my personal pipe dream, but i like 2x4s.

7) SoCal = #1 scene in USA. We need a yearly SoCal Massive event, with damn near all SoCal artists, multi-roomed and pack'd with junglists, spotters, ravers, random folks!!! The UK have huge events with just UK talent, so does Canada and Australia/New Zealand.... i think SoCal is in that legion of status. It would take a lot of working together, but to get something like 5K people at a 15 hour event with 3 rooms of all SoCal talent.....eh once again, my own dream so to speak....
