Power 105.9, most rewindz ever!
I was driving home last nite, listenin' to power 106, and they played this new song: "Stunna Shades" (I think? --- I wear my Stun Glasses as nite)
and they Rewound it 5 TIMES!!!
Literally, no exaggeration, I counted.
They kept rewinding it over and over... It was worse than UK headliners dropping their final tune of the nite... ha!
I thought rewinds got out of hand at d&b parties sometimes, but this was ridiculous! |

funny s**t, i totally heard that too, i was with piston and we both were in complete shock, we agreed that 3 is the absolout max limit and thats only at a new years party when the mc is fizzin his brains out more than the crowd.

trust me DJs on Power106 (or any major station) don't have the freedom or say/so to decide to rewind songs (or do anything for that matter) without a Program Director's blessing (who has to have the blessing of others above him/her). They run those stations like the military (clockwork)
i think that tune is by E-40 who has been getting the national push (and deservedly so cause his album is good).

here's an alternative to rewinds to hype a crowd with a tune: beat juggling...
...except it's a lot harder to beat juggle well than do a stupid rewind.
or just rewind it and drop it right back in, instead of rewinding it, stopping, having the MC blabber for two minutes about the fact that the record just got rewound (yes, everyone in the room obviously noticed WHEN THE FUCKING SOUND STOPPED) then dropping it back in from the boring 2 minute long ambience+hi-hat intro that was meant to be mixed over anyway.
honestly, i really don't even understand why DJs do it...they pick a track that hypes everyone up and instead of keeping the hype going, they f**king kill the dance floor for 2 or 3 minutes and get everyone disoriented. makes me want to walk outside for a cigarette, not stick around on the floor. |
