Pawn's our reigning champ...

We're shooting for the end of July for the next Kombat.

FYI...we've talked to some contestants already..and this line up is going to be the best yet I think..So-cal's top D&B talent are putting up their best to strip mr pawn of his crown..

oh..and how do you all feel about a MC battle, since we're having judge's again, I don't think having an MC over the DJ's will tilt their chances...how do you all feel about this?

mixing is mixing....great if u can beatmatch and program well...cool...thats mixing...however...a battle is something much much more than mixing...id give an example of what i think a battle should sound like or what i intend to do if i enter...but i dont want anyone jackin my s**t.....but ill leave it at that...if anyone thinks just good mixing is gonna win this.........think again......TRUST

muad dib played last year. he did good the first round, if i remember correctly he played some soundmurderer into some krinjah. but then his lady got super trashed and and got kicked out haha. he came back and i think played some angry rock mashups haha. good times.

alright........thats it!

Before we start doubting Pawns ability to throw down (which is f**king ridiculous, cause my boy KILLS IT everytime).....lets consider what the first two battles were all about when they went down, AS they went down......

BATTLE 1: Pawn wasnt in it as u all know. i wasnt there either, but from what i hear Jason killed it.

BATTLE 2: the rules were based on crowd reaction....soooooooo.....
considering that those were the rules......we were thinking..."hey, all the dj's on the bill will most likely bring friends and supporters with them to cheer them on so....." thats exactly what we did.......all of our crew came down to support our homie in the battle like we THOUGHT everyone else was goin to do.........but NO.....that wasnt the case.........the total body count of the audience in the first battle consisted of no more than 25 people......it was DEAD!!!
.......so of course we were gonna cheer our homie on when it came down to the judging and he won because no one else was there to cheer anyone else on (besides the fact that 2 or 3 of the djs left after they played anyway....lol).....im not at all knocking any of the other dj's though...because thay all did great and we cheered for them as well........but we came to support our boy and thats that. Its not our fault that no one came to back up any of there friends that were competing that night......so call us f**king cheerleaders if u want......thats really cute. We were just there to support a really dope battle concept and cheer our friend on. SIMPLE


Battle 3: It was my understanding that everyone felt the previous battle was one-sided which is understandable i guess. So the event organizers switched the rules up a bit. Thats fine. Now it the rules were......every 2 records the dj's rotate....which was already kinda funny cause i feel and the other djs proly felt that two records at a time really isnt enough time to display much technique when it comes to a battle (especially with d&b)....i think you all have stated this previously. So......with all do respects to the djs that competed in battle 3 (many of them close friends that i respect very much) got up there and from what i remember.........mixed records.....not battled......mixed!!!
and when it came down to it...the judges that THEY selected chose pawn as the winner.

so......before you go trying to knock pawn down or doubt his ability i recommend you take a good look at the rules of each battle and how they went about. Pawn is aware as we all are aware that they're plenty of extremely skilled dj's all up and down Cali that have been killing for years.
But all this "saved by the bell" talk is honestly setting this whole situation back to the high shool years.
