...to have such a tight-knit scene where we are able to enjoy great artist's like Marky at the huge festivals as well as a surprise guest set at such a core-club as Samurai Sundaze.

Big Up-promoters not being petty and promoting the scene in general!

Big up to those pushing Unity, one of the basic founding structures of this whole thing!

Megalomania is an unrealistic belief in one's superiority, grandiose abilities, and even omnipotence. It is characterized by a need for total power and control over others, and is marked by a lack of empathy for anything that is perceived as not feeding the self.

Although megalomania is a term often ascribed to anyone who is power-hungry, the clinical definition is that of a mental illness associated with narcissistic personality disorder (NPD).

Narcissism is most simply defined as self-love. Though it is considered healthy to care about your own well-being and have a healthy self-esteem, when someone loves himself to the exclusion of all else and others become objectified to be used only to serve the self, this is no longer considered healthy or normal.

There are different psychological theories about how and why NPD develops, most of which relate to the integration of different aspects of ego and self as a child, and the nature of the parental roles in that process. Regardless of theory, NPD is characterized by extremely low self-esteem, which is compensated for by delusions of grandeur and megalomania, a narcissistic neuroses. With the propensity to act only on behalf of one's self, the unbridled need to feed one's ego, and the objectification of others to serve the power-hungry needs of megalomania, it is easy to see how this can be a recipe for disaster, especially when wrapped in a charismatic personality.

One of the most well known examples of megalomania in modern history was Adolf Hitler. A street waif, Hitler wasn't content rising through the ranks to become the military leader of Germany. His megalomania drove him to aspire to conquer the entire world. Being born into a "superior race" also wasn't enough for the mentally ill Hitler. Instead, he wanted to wipe out all other races. This need to destroy everything outside of what he perceived as an extension of himself is a classic though horrifically illustrated example of megalomania. Paradoxically, a person who exhibits such tremendous ego and self-confidence in reality has such low self-esteem and such a fragile ego that he cannot abide any expression other than his own, for fear of annihilation of the self. Therefore everything that is not under his control is perceived as a threat.

I am done. I am done with the politics, arrangements, crews, beef's, drama, etc.

Sorry tonight I am calling bulls**t. Am I the only one paying full price for events? What is everyone all freaked out about? Having to pay for a ticket, cover, what? Why is no one speaking up? What exactly is the deal with no one wanting to say anything? this is not right, nor how our scene should operate.

1. Last year at EDC it was alright.. but I am done with the massives that are full of underage rollers who are taking up the dancefloor... this year I tried to get in the spirit.. but was not feeling it...

2. Everyone knows that the next day Temple of Boom will have a BBQ, one off, or Samauri sunday to make up for the people who don't like Massives..Not taking away from the massive.

This is a bulletin board about the scene. I don't like the fact that Bassrush was rumored to call a halt to Marky Playing. If this is true; i am not going to any more Bassrush events.

Most of you all are somewhat involved with Bassrush and that is fine. I will also not go to any events that are supported by people who can't stand up for themselves, nor can't call bulls**t on some mafiosa style stuff in a scene that is so small.

I can find many things to do on a weeknight and any night. I am too old for bulls**t.. I can go wait in line at Area for an hour and get the same feeling...

f**k. I really wanted to see marky at samurai..as I don't really do the massive thing anymore. too old I guess? been there, done that for about 12 years.

I was working on only 4 hours of sleep and was ready to put my dancing shoes on. not that I don't love atlantic connection and stress level, i've just seen both in the past month and was really diggin the chance to see marky in a comfy, cozy lil spot without the lasers, glowsticks and sweaty 14yo candy kids.

dang. well everyone should still go to samurai. should be ill... both atlantic connection and stress level threw the f**k down at muse..and if I had the money (cuz I like to drink) or the energy (less than 4 hours of sleep)..I'd definitely go support.

i didn't want to be the first one to say it but that's pretty much spot on riccardo. it's great when it can work out when it is feasable by the artists but sometimes there are contractual obligations and restrictions that the promoter has to abide to. this isn't about poilitics it's business and as far as i'm concerned, there are way too many heads concerned about matters that have nothing to do w/ them.

Bassrush seems to be doing just fine with their current staff. I believe I need to thank them again for providing some of the best talent and venues, as well as, experiences in the last couple years.

i thought it was a similar situation in that both clubs took place after the festival, both in hollyhood, and both waited till after the initial booking was over to advertise.

and what i'm doing is stating my opinion.
i am not wearing a black robe and holding court.

should i not voice my opinion on a public bulletin board?

i understand your point of view.

if i was a dj, in a sea of dj's, i would speak favorably of someone who books DnB rooms.

but seeing as i have over a decade of service to the electronic dance scene in this city, i feel i have earned the right to speak freely.

also if people we're coming up to me at clubs and saying i am wrong, i might re-consider my statements.
but in reality, the response from heads is quite the opposite!
