How did you get your DJ/nick?

I'm always curious how people get / got their DJ / nick names. Was it giving to you? Did you make it up? Did it come to you in a dream? Bestowed on you from an alien abduction? What? lol
Thought it might be fun to read your stories......post em up! ;-)

I got mine back in world war II... I was on a special task force and became a natural at the trench gun and trench warfare in general.... so my platoon gave me the nick-name TRENCH.....

and the 54 is my favorite number
so it just kind of stuck

When I was in the Marines I drove Amphibious Assalut Vehicles and we also called them Traxx. And I spun drum and bass, so Dtraxx. I made it up. I think that was about 5 years ago.

But for two years before that I was just Cob cuz' I thought I had to be good enough to warrant a "dj name" hahahah. I'm interested to hear what other people's stories are.

i had like 4 or 5 names before this one but i found out they were either taken or were just lame haha

i was in sound engineering class and they were going over the exact definition of what a circuit is, after that i found my name

So since middle school all my friends have called be "DubLG"

Mine was given to me by Satan himself: Bill Gates. So like all windows computers, mine liked to shut down at the most inopportune times. “Fatal Error” sounds kind of ominous so I was kicking that around. Then I picked up Final Scratch where I learned the true meaning of a “Fatal Error,, …….I’ve loaded the wrong deck in the middle of a mix more then once (freakin idiot). So I figured why not embrace my imperfections beside how can you blame a guy for making a “Fatal Error,, in a mix when that’s his damn name?

.Com was because in the early 90's I was heavy into punk and hated electronic music, what I called computer music. Infact at the time I hated computers. Once I came around I thought it was the most hipocritical name for someone that once hated and now loved electronic or computer music. All the other alias's I have I had to climb a mountain for and speak to a whizard who bestowed them upon me after many trials and dragon fights.

Aaron (Jyro) gave me mine...he's ALWAYS called me "Sweet Momma K". My story isn't as exciting as some of yours.
Aaron says he gave me the nick because I'm a Momma, and I'm always feeding him........well everybody really. Especially at the radio shows. I LOVE TO COOK! The K is short for my real name "Kyle". The sweet part is debate-able though, lol.
It just stuck?

No, I use to go by Human Nature cause rythm is human nature. Wanting to make music is human nature. Wanting to kill is human nature. Wanting to love is human nature. So basically I though hmm I think I will go by the name human nature because it encompases what we all have in common HUMAN NATURE. That thought came to me after nature told me to pack that 5 PK BT, just kidding. Thats human nature too. I dont remember why I changed my name, think some cock rocker was using it too but I have been going by that name since middle school summer between highschool so I WILL USE IT IF I WANT TO BIA! YEA! THATS RIGHT! Subsequence came about one day while thinking about how the scene was becoming white washed and everyone and thier mom was playing the same thing and wanted to hear the same thing DOWN WITH BABYLON!. So I thought to myslef we need a new approach a new SEQUENCE of events that will change the face of this scene as we know it. I wanted to be a part of that so I fugured SUB as in bass sub and SUB as in SUBSTITUE and then thought of the events that would unfold after that change and/or the SUBSEQUENT change and tadoWWWW SUBSEQUENCE was hatched up. I also liked it because it could be SUB-SEQUENCE as in sequencing or SUBSEQUENCE as in the subsequent. Im sure beer and a little "HERB" Albert had to do a little something with the rational but hey its sounds good. Maybe I should just change it to HUMAN SEQUENCE? hmm. interesting.

I used to have alot of old grateful dead bootlegs from way back in the 60's and they had this tripped out f**king acid jam called "cryptical envelopment" that lasted like 45 minutes or some s**t. I dug on the "cryptic" part and just spelled it with a K. I got a new name now but its top secret until I play out again...hehe.

Back in 2000 I tried starting a prop company for raves, kinda like what Spectre was doing for the D&B rooms, except for the main stage. I actually did stage props for EDC and Jujubeats that year. Anyway, the name of the company was Visual Mayhem, and I became Josh Mayhem. There ya go

i was blazed out on a few bowls to myself and i was watching Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back. during the intro when the words scroll down i read the word "rebellion" and i said out loud "rebel lion". for those who know me i'm extremely rebellious in nature and i just do tings my way. so i guess it fits

i just like that type of human reaction....when something makes u move without u even knowing...usualy due to a suden influx of adrenaline after the body is taken by surprise or scared...its some subconcious instinct. plus i just used to write it on the walls

i thought i should have a dj name that fit my personality somehow, so mine reflects that. i may have a pretty mellow demeanor, but it hides the storm raging in my head. i can never turn it off, i'm always thinking about a million things at once. even when i relax, my brain randomly decides to multiply really difficult numbers together for three hours straight. REALLY sucks sometimes.

and then, techy dnb was what really got me into this music, so i misspelled "frantic"... uh... "urbanically". i swear to god i wasn't trying to rip off photek.

well... i started by mixin house, and i had a tonz of house dj homies, anyways, they started makin fun of me when i got into Dnb (even tho they like it somewhat also- i always got picked on DAMN BULLIES, lol) and they started callin me DJ JUNGLENUTZ... started as a joke, now thats all they call me, lol..

my tagging name has a long story attached to it so i won't post all that s**t, don't have the time, haha

my brothers were heavy into reggae and dub when i was a kid growing up. i always wanted to be like them. so i grew up listening to dancehall and reggae cuz i wanted to be a reggae selekta. anytime my friends were chilln i was listening to reggae. and i smoked/sold crazy amounts of weed. finally my friends just started calling me Rasta. Then in high school 96-98'ish Da Shaka (original gonejahmen don dadda) introduced to me ragga jungle. the name stuck and my life went in a new direction. i grew up to be the baddest reggae selekta in all the land
