forums : Jungle Scene

Petition for new forum!

Breaks, dubstep, glitch-hop, grime, electro, bmore.... I'm failing to see the connection to drum & bass. I thought this was a drum n bass website.

Some major players in the local dnb scene are pushing these sounds I know. But so what.

This is junglescene.com isn't it? It seems like the master of the helm eecue (good guy with good intentions for music in general) has decided to not only allow dubstep in whatever forum it wants, but also give it its own forum.

Where does it stop?

What's next house and trance? Heck why not they're as relevant to dnb as any of the other artforms. Oh wait house and trance are not as socially acceptable as all those "hip genres." I'm not even gonna bring up happy hardcore....pppffpfftfttf

Junglescene.com mission statement:

This website is a tool for people in the drum'n'bass* scene. Junglescene.com was created to give junglists** a way to communicate. This site is not the actual jungle scene. The real scene is an international community of producers, DJ's, MC's, promoters, label owners, shop owners, designers, and music enthusiasts.

I say we start up an electronic music forum. Put a dubstep subforum in there and call it a day. Keep the clubs & parties forum and the junglescene forum strictly drum & bass.

Who's with me! (nobody I'm sure, just thought I'd give it a shot here...)

fair enough. but, I would consider most of these other threads are pretty much jungle related considering how many dnb heads are involved in pushing these sounds. Sorry for sounding like an ass. so, I vote for no

Yes I understand many dnb heads are involved in these "other sounds." But at the same time many are not. I'm not saying demolish any non-dnb talk, just take it out of the main forums and give them their own electronica forum.

That way people who are not interested in that stuff do not have to comb through it all the time.

I agree with Gzuz(waddup bro) and Unifire. Why shouldn't the site expand and evolve right along with the artists it supports. I see people changing forums to find more complete places to express their interests. Why should we push our own people away by being close-minded.

i basically agree, but i wonder why not bring up the hip-hop section as well? "Talk about Hip-Hop and how it relates to drum'n'bass"...how about the fact that the majority of drum n bass DOESN'T relate to hip-hop. Do away with all non-dnb related forums and add a forum for the dark style.

Totally agree...
Not to dis on any other type of genre but it does make for a clean look(presentation and navigation savy...) on the forums!

Not that i really have a say since ive only been a member for about a year but definitly progressing this site...

Well the name of this site is JUNGLE scene, & you can easily make arguments that hip-hop, dancehall, reggae, house, etc. are related to or roots of jungle just as much as dubstep, grime, etc. (I'd vote yes to keep the main forums less crowded) and I'd check out the new forums to see whats happening.

I think we (us others) have done a good job keeping the information where the junglists don't get cranky reading about it

Except for the few posts in the last 2 or so weeks I don't see that many posts happening

You are going to have to see the interview we had with DJ Krust original BBoy we had over the weekend. Its great the way he explained his roots, and also commented how they were constantly looking at hip hop, funk and soul for inspiration.
I really see no problem with junglescene.. It should be "don't like what your watching? change the channel!"

Yes this is a 'jungle' website, but as we can see the community is into discussing many things beyond the D&B scope.


A 'Featured Artist' interview/ Q&A section would be cool & informative seeing as we get all the top notch DJ/Producers comin' thru LA each week.

I don't really see a need for change.

we have a hip-hop forum, we have a dub-step forum, so what! the site is pretty much fine the way it is.

i for one see this site as more then just an information center.

we all have a lot of friends on this board. Most of us know about 80% of the people that post on here. i think this site is more of a platform for friends to get together and discuss happenings...

my personal opinion is if we keep it strickly to the dnb genre, traffic will die down making it a less effective utility in our scene...which ever scene you are pushing now adays..

how many times can we talk about how much we hate so and so mc, or how this security sucks...

not directing that to anyone in particular.. all i am saying is we run a multi genre night in wich you will see on our lineups that its not 100% Drum n Bass.. are you saying that we shouldnt promote on junglescene b/c of that?

We have a big following from this site and it would be a shame to not do it anymore b/c someone has their panties all in a bunch and cant simply ignore a forum..

JUNGLE MUSIC IS NOT JUST DRUM AND BASS
its music that focuses on drum and bass instrumentally. represented by d&b, dancehall/reggae/dub,dubstep, hip hop, jazz, afro-beat/juju music, house, breaks, hardcore, etc...
segregation is for puritans!
if your in favor of this preposed reform,
then you probably have buckles on your shoes, a gun that looks like a trumpet, and you kill native americans after having dinner with them!

starting a new 'other music' forum could easily spark an opposite effect and encourage more discussion of other genres. i never said ban the other discussions, just give them a home of their own

If there is 0% drum and bass on the night the answer is no. I feel that drum & bass struggles enough as it is. Promoters losing money. Dancefloors being practically empty. The last thing we need is competition from other genres. If you wanna pull people into the dnb scene via multi-genre parties you should be promoting on other websites such as myspace, facebook, etc.

Pete, in your need for attention you have probably done more to anger, disrupt, or just annoy everyone than create anything positive for this messageboard. In the age of Tila Tequila, you seem to have invented yourself as a self -made celebrity. Somehow you have conned people into believing that you deserve some love at the shows because of your imaginary influence on ticket buyers. Your only friends, or people who are friendly towards you, in this scene are the people who's ass you kiss, or are afraid of being caught in the middle of some online drama that you create. Your hard work for the scene consists of posting up myspace bulletins and demanding to get in for free and free drinks. When that isnt given to you, you get on junglescene and bitch about how unfairly youve been treated. I cant recall a time you've shown up sober to an event, you are usually so wasted its an embarrassment to yourself. You sit around your house and climb on your digital podium and pick fights you cant back up or play devils advocate just to be a c**t. I really think this scene would be better off without you, and if you are so upset with the way junglescene is ran - then why dont you go and start your own. Eecue has poured tons of his time and money into this project, all you have done is used it for your personal gain. I think it was more amusing to Dave to have you publicly bitch about this than to actually address whatever the f**k your crying about today.

I'm not here to be a people pleaser I'm here to stand up for what I believe in whether people like it or not. I see what you're doing, you're trying to steal the spotlight off dnb because dnb is too big for a little guy like you. Rather instead, you would prefer to have the spotlight on dubstep because in that scene you are a major player. In dnb you are nothing, you can easily be replaced. I don't go to parties to acheive anything than a good time. I'm proud to show up to parties intoxicated. There's no shame in my game. a parytygoer, dj, promoter, vj, flyer designer, web designer, event producer, ran a magazine, co-ordinated production, marketer, investor, a grunt running around lifting s**t, dude handing out the flyers....

im still out there, doing things to push this drum n bass along - so what if I throw dubstep parties. theres plenty I do that isnt drum n bass. Ive paid plenty of dues.

I think you do use this for personal gain. Any press is better than no press - its not how I want people to remember me, but somehow that fuels your need for attention.

i know that alot of junglists DO NOT LIKE the dubstep scene slipping in with the jungle scene, and really dont like dubstep and jungle to be related at all...because the arent.

i like some dubstep every once in a while...but its not what im looking for if i want to hear JUNGLE...

if i want to see a jungle or drum n bass show or discuss topics related to the subject, i dont want to have to scroll through a bunch of OFF TOPIC events that do not relate to OR represent junglists.

...just my opinion (and many others ive talked to on the subject that go to shows to hear dnb and are totally turned off when a dubstep set is thrown in the mix)

Just out of curiosity, with all the preaching of what jungle should be and how we should go about being part of the scene, has anyone writtten the junglist bible yet?

You guys preach so f**king much I feel as tho I need to give you 10% of my earnings and follow the junglist way

Where are the jungle commandments
1 there shalt be no dubstep
2 there shalt be no mc's
3 there shalt be no speak of any music slower then 170 bpm or faster then 185 bpm

here in LA I have to say that dubstep and dnb are related, and it's much more than just the promoters who are crossing over... the DJs and producers are as well as the partygoers. this is a fairly unique phenomenon to LA and the US, in the UK the same crossover doesn't seem to be happening.

plus have you heard dubstep? it's quite similar to dnb, especially old jungle from the mid '90s.

also are their really enough dubstep events to warrant a separate forum for dubstep events?

same sounds dont mean the same style...even if jungle producers out here do dubstep too

junglescene should hold true to its name...

the lines of jungle have been outlined...and what is or what is not is easily defined...

...relation by crowd or promotion has nothing to do with the music.

hip-hop shows, reggae shows, and ragga-jungle shows have similar crowds but the music is very different.

a separate section is helpful to those that came here for dubstep fans too...unless the objective IS promotional...to get junglists into the dubstep scene by interest...or overkill.

so a separate music genre in with a different scene should have a different section...why not?
