what are you doing with your life?


so, besides drum n bass, what do you all do (or want to do) with the rest of your life? what makes you feel fulfilled ? where do you see yourself in 20 years? what are you working towards? what is your higher purpose?

for me, my higher purpose is to bring positive energy, love, light, and healing into other peoples (and plants and animals') lifes. I try to do this in my own small ways every single day. Sometimes I get distracted, but generally I always return to that. Now I am working for it on a grander scale. You will see in 5 years what I am talking about. In the material world, I am in graduate school at UCLA studying animation, and I work for a medical center ER.

working towards becoming a creative director @ my company dead-line.com where i design dvd packaging and marketing collateral for movies. i recently picked up acrylics, as you know karen which i;m really stoked about. there's soo much about the medium that i never knew. i've been trying to produce more lately and as some of you know, i've been learning to vocalize. i have my first vocal tune set for a release so i'm pretty excited about that but nervous at the same time b/c i've never exposed myself like that as an artist. i'm looking forward to 2012 as we head into the new age...the age of the mind. i feel it's a pretty exciting time to be alive right now. been reading more. stuff like "power of intention". all this stuff that's coming about right now like "the secret" and "zeitgeist" are all happening b/c of this shift in consciousness that is slowly progressing as we head into this new age. i'm taking a lot more chances w/ things and just doing what i want w/ out fear of what others may think. eventually i'd liek to settle down w/ a family but i need a gf 1st...haha. that's about it for me.

in addendum:
i've never been outside of this country b4 so i'd like to travel but i'm moving into a new house soon which i'm excited about and werk is to busy to make time so that won't be for a while. i figure i'll try to get some more tunes out first, take a leave of absence and plan a lil intl tour

Raising a family first and foremost. Continuing down my career path while maintaining a buisness I started a year ago. Getting ready to start a Non Profit Org. based out of the City of Long Beach.

taking care of my family first off. At the same time im aggressively making my way up the governments version of the corporate ladder (GS pay system) Im pumping up my retirement/stock portfolios so i may retire when and where i want. If i don't make this a life long career, i will retire from civil service at 38 then open a restaurant or do something i am passionate about/be my own boss.

I am possibly looking into upgrading my cable package. Plus, there is this new restaurant I want to try...

I'm trying to make the best of it!

Living it day by day, trying to go back to school next year.

My dream is to own my own club & clothing line, I would of had both last year but I slacked off (a lot) I'm currently working on some designs with a buddy of mine, and we're getting some shirts made pretty soon hopefully *fingers crossed* not a big deal, but it's a start.

I've been feeling a lil creative so i'm getting back into my art lately.

I'm working on getting my driver license ( Cuz I'm Scared as f**k to drive) - it's like a Phobia I just need to overcome!!!

Right now- I work for a Medical Billing Company.

I guess i'm just focused on trying to grow up and become the woman I should be.

im doing far too much and need to focus down to whats important. similarly, i realized today that my life would certainly be left incomplete without a pet hyena.

Trying to turn my little mainstream promotions company into a profitable event productions company in hopes of one day pushing dnb even further into Hollywood. Aside from that I seek happiness daily with good friends, good smoke, and good music.

Well right now, I'm teaching mathematics at a public high school. Giving back to society the success it has given me. Showing the future my love and potential for 1 of the 3 universal languages (Math, Music, Beer). Working on music constantly. Right now my big challenge is how to turn my music into more of a business. I've been getting experience over the last couple years in a lot of aspects of the business side(producing, djing, throwing shows, putting out records) so I can take that experience and put it all together in a huge awesome plan...which I have yet to put together lol. Someday, I'll have it all only for it to end with me face down in a big pile of c*o*c*a*i*n*e haha

sounds like you guys have some . . . interesting . . . ambitions . especially you whizard .. :p . cable is definitely one of the more important things about life.

I couldn't work at a zoo bc I'd let the monkeys out and give them water guns and then video tape them terrorizing the souvenier shops.

so is raising kids as fulfilling as one would hope thus far? must be hectic to do that and go to school .. AND party. dayum, lots of energy.

Jos - good stuff . sounds like you've got it together, so shuldn't be hard to find a gf. traveling is awesome. I am more afraid then looking forward to 2012 . . that sounds like the ideal time to skip the country if you ask me.

Spek - have you ever heard of Cafe Press? You can sell your designs on products (shirts, hoodies, mugs, etc) there one order at a time, and it costs you nothing until the order is placed, then just a percentage I think. might be something to look into .

Well aside from DJ'n Drum N Bass.... for damn near 12 years now... for $$$ and good times I been working as a Strip Club DJ for the last almost 4 years...

Aside from that I am a proud parent of an 11 year old boy... who absolutely kills it @ skateboarding... not "looks cute" when he does it kills it.... but switch kickfliping a 6 step type kills it...

I collect guns and shoot as often as possible... Bodyboard everyday to stay in shape and keep my soul free of televised contamination....

I dont eat red meat and dont drink.... but stay irie like a mofo.... go back to school in Jan for an Xray tech program....

basically living life to the fullest instead of watching life on the TV....

But in more concrete terms, I am working toward my undergraduate degree in Comparative literature...working on fluency in Spanish, beginning my studies of French...preparing to do graduate work in Spain...and...

well...

I hope to get my PhD in comp. lit (r something related to it)
in order to work within academia or as an editor or a literary critic or something like that.
The real goal, however, is to write what I want to write and manages to make a living doing it.

Additionally, after three years of traveling abroad during every spring and summer break I have decided that I want to live outside of the United States for a while.

So…depending on how the next few semesters..there is a good chance I will be moving to Madrid for a year.

I work in l.a. recording Drums + teaching Drum/Percussion lessions. I also give lessons in Protools, and reason.

For the past year I've been working with l.a.c.e.r. afterschool programs, and helping kids interested in music produce their own beats and write lyrics! I am surrounded by positive people and thankfull everyday I can use my talent to give insight to others who love music. It completely elevates my game in all aspects and gives me time to do what i do...PRODUCE!!

My goals? Pay my f*cking credit debt =) , and tour the world playing/producing music.

currently trying to keep my head above the waters of depression by tricking myself into thinking im doing myself good by going through college... now majoring in anthropology. Interesting stuff, just hopes everything works out :D

was currently being a stay-@-home mommy to my 2 year-old blue eyed baby boy! so freakin cute,but def runs circles around me! he likes to play w/my decks so i had to give him a pair of baby turntables,(has a little mixer in the middle of it).

i just found a great position to work as a doctors assistant.he's trying me out on monday,wish me good luck!

I must admit that i too am afraid of driving.mostly on the freeway,im cool on the streets. the courts didnt allow me to get my license till i was 22,by then i just got over trying to drive,but now it's time for me to buck up and bite the bullet.

as for school, i have taken a lot of business courses,i just never finished my general ed.

my main passion is for ballet. i have been dancing since i was 4 and i cant even begin to describe what it does to me on the inside. my teacher recently had a heart attack and i havent bothered looking for a new one...

Baby turntables!! That is super adorable.

I heard an interview with J-Dilla's mom where she said that as a child he was inclined towards music and took an immediate liking to turn tables, so she bought him a pair of those fischer price decks and he would play little sets for her and her church friends in the park every week. JD grew up to be an incredible producer having a heavy influence on hip-hop. And that is because his mother encouraged his natural inclinations and supported his life goals no matter how lofty or challenging they seemed. So good for you getting those kid-tables! Maybe yours is next

fo sho this boy is going to be involved with music,his dad is a producer/dj.
when i was pregnant i went to a couple shows and dnb was/is always playing.
the baby could feel the bass in the womb would always respond to it.
so when he hears it now it's more of a comfort thing.

Enrolling at Moorpark College today
(they have a great zoo program there )

But eventully I see myself winning the lotery and sitting on my ass while making it fatter and sipping drinks with a little umbrella! =]

Upon review, my life has improved 200% to where I was 5 years ago. Mostly due to growing up and prioritizing
things. Things that I thought were so important back then are close to meaningless now. So yeah, I'm doing great, I live in one of the most gorgeous places in Cali, have a good job, I'm close to my daughter, and I participate in both the local and statewide DnB/Dubstep scene. Still have a few things to get ironed out responsibility wise but I'm getting there!

I'm collecting college degrees. Got a BS in Busines, MBA, and a Masters in Project Management. I'll probably start a PhD in the summer of '08. Gotta give the noodle some rest time.

Travelling the world is a hobby. 11 countries and 10 states to date with Brazil coming up in February.

On the fast track to marriage and family right now. Not a better feeling in the world than this.

Only spot I'm not content with is the job situation and I'm working on getting that sorted. Gotta get paid ya know.

Working part-time, building my home studio, taking sound engineering classes...running a drum n bass label by myself with my spare time and cash, getting worldwide distribution and paying all the artists is a difficult and at times, seemingly futile, endeavor. I've definitely have some bad days or get sick of dealing with shady people, to the point where I just want to say "f**k it" but then I get kind words from some fan out there who is digging the sound I'm pushing with the label and it makes it all worth it.

I'm now a junior electrical engineer at Creative Engineering Group in Canoga Park. We do CAD design for Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing systems in skyrises and hotels. It'll be a few more semesters before I graduate from CSUN. Then I'll be aiming toward becoming a Licenced California Professional Engineer.

Then im gonna make hella money and never talk to any of you people again =P.

at the rate that i'm going i'll begin creating/filming/directing pornography...hmmm, i don't wanna exaggerate, i'd say within the next year. that's perhaps the closest career possibility for me right now...everything else seems to require these crazy like 14 or 17 year degrees from universities & stuff like that.

Currently working as a software engineer in the same building as Jo-S (not the same company though). Within the next 4 months I plan to find a new job, move to Long Beach and start an MBA program come March.

In the meantime, I'm DJing and getting back into producing music that people (hopefully) will dig.
