Re: serious drum and bass related question

first note, the new electro music isnt actually electro as far as history shows, its more of a techno, house , glitch, indie hybrid. And it makes girls shake their asses... so wheres the beef?

All over print hoodies do scare me, ive always been against buying one, but due to the fact that they sell them at ross now, theyre prolly going the way of the trucker cap in 2008... no spilt milk here.

I do however think its funny, the line people draw. Half the people i know wear dunks and new era hats..., writers, photogs, dj's, angry message board posters.... the likes. add a bright color hoody and suddenly that outfit goes from shabby chic to nu rave?

backlash to trends is a bitch...

Re: serious drum and bass related question

united is right, the world of trends comes in 15-20 year cylcles... as far as the fashion experts are concerned (and i mean pantone and other fashion trendsetters), we are living somewhere between 1987 and 1992...

enjoy.

Re: serious drum and bass related question

this was officially 15-20 years ago...

on fashion in the 90's:

Neon colors

The dominant youth clothing fad at the beginning of the 1990s was fluorescent or dark colors. Fluorescent clothing was associated with cool, summer themes like surfing and the beach. The five fluorescent colors were blue, green, orange, pink, and yellow. Fluorescent clothing was especially popular with teenage and pre-teen girls, but fluorescent t-shirts and shorts were also popular with boys. Fluorescent clothing included t-shirts, sweatshirts, socks, shoelaces, hair scrunchies, and fanny packs. Hypercolor clothing, made of material which changes colors according to temperature, also came into fashion during the early 1990s. In 1991, fluorescent colors were replaced by colors such as coral, hot pink, and turquoise. The popularity of bright colors declined through 1995. Hoop earrings were also a popular accessory for teenaged girls and women in the first years of the 1990s.

Sports clothing:

Sports-influenced clothing was popular during the early 1990s. Spandex tights were a popular for girls, in a variety of bright colors, including fluorescents. In 1991, black spandex tights became popular. From 1992, spandex tights were gradually replaced by cotton tights. By 1992, spandex tights were popular biking wear for men, in black and blue. Weightlifters and wrestlers also wore spandex. Spandex was popular for cropped tank tops, resembling long-line bras; and the sports bra, a heavily lined and supportive fitness garment, was worn as outerwear. Sweatshirts and sweatpants remained popular from the 1980s. Track suits were popular, in bright colours including fluorescents, and black beginning in 1991. Track suits and sweatsuits were more popular with men. Baseball caps increased in popularity in 1991. Canterbury jerseys, shorts and other sportswear clothing were also popular.

Anyone know what the backlash was to this style?????????

GRUNGE....

hope youre looking forward to flannels in july.

Re: serious drum and bass related question

^^^^^^^
nice one Aero. and i gotta say, i did wear Cross Colours. however i would like to state that i still matched my s**t and didnt wear the obscenely crazied out CC stuff. the Fresh Prince did a great job of that. lol. oh man, those were the days. remember the old TLC vids?? or when Tribe Called Quest first came out? well, the whole NAtive Tongues? fudge the flannels...

LOL.

agreed with the lot of yous, on so many levels.

so, perhaps to further elaborate i'll say i've seen these colorful jackets and such mainly in hiphop first, later into the rave scene and the rest of the electronic stuff. shiet, i know im old. i guess it all starts with how you dressed when you were younger. cuz i always matched my shiet. living in japan none of the locals liked matching their wardrobe it seemed. i guess just not a fan of dressing like a walking psychedelic en vogue art piece.

and yes, dammit. i was bored. been sick since last Thurs and just feeling better now. so ha! =)

Re: serious drum and bass related question

Since I was an adult in the 80s and 90s, and have long been into fashion and retro looks (I prefer 30s and 60s, but that's just me), I can say it all comes back around. About 7 years ago I was predicting the return of leg warmers and Flashdance influences. Everyone laughed and ha-ha, it came back.

For about the last 3 years I've been predicting the return of the biker short look (think Salt n Pepa). Get ready folks.

Re: serious drum and bass related question

the cool ting about them biker shorts for the ladies is that if they got a badunkadunk, its ALL GOOD! =)

question, how do you all feel about the pegleg era? when you cuff and fold your pants and make the bottoms all tight? since in the punk scene they like to wear they're pants to where the guys have to adjust their sack every 10 secs, how about for those that can't afford the pants? bring back the peglegs i say.

dont be afraid of a little fashion. personally i think camo and hoodies are beyond played. its almsot depressing to go to a show(ive experienced this) and think "hey i must still be 19 because people look the same"

hoodie does not=junglist
