I just want to know who in their right mind booked Jack Johnson to headline Friday. And the Raconteurs? Death Cab...What is this the KROQ Weenie Roast lineup? Street Scene?

Portishead saved it for me along with Kraftwerk on Saturday. Roger Waters of course on Sunday. Most of the smaller bands that are good, ive already seen, plus can be seen locally for much cheaper. 5-20dollar shows. Much more intimate.

Probably the worst lineup to date.

yeah looks like sat is the only day i must go to.... f**kin crazy how the lineups have shifted over the last few years though.

portishead is worth it though. sucks that i do really wanna see alot of the smaller bands.. metric on sunday would be dope. LOVE metric.

metric played a couple years ago at coachella and were great. Emily Haines is a babe :P

but, I guarantee you can catch her at an exclusive metric show in LA soon for much cheaper.

kinda weak how they keep recycling these bands they already brought out. i can spot several that have already played.

i cant believe people are so upset with the lineup.
im absolutely shocked that they got david bowie and the reunited portishead. the promoter broke barriers when booking some of these acts.
the only thing im upset with is the whole going to that painful festival. to many people and not enough organization.
i wonder if bassrush is gonna host a room like they did last year?

After the kind of line up the last three years alone; this line up is the most disapointing.

They are reaching out to the baby boomers for their cash now in my opinion. Roger Waters? Radio friendly Jack Jonson whom has been a supporting act only, and to my knowledge not even a new album, and Portishead. I might get slack from this but Portishead is a good trip hop band that is cool for the small tent during the early evening kids.

Coachella has all cock .. and no balls..

Stronger Electronic acts and DJ's. I will be hitting up the now new thing of the "Gifting Suites" and Palatial manision parties before, during, and after instead of the actual event.

3 day passes are sold first then they release individual days after that. stops Sat from selling out while Fri/Sun are empty. Capacity is around 50,000 per day (sellable). i stand by my earlier statement...3 day passes sell out day they go on sale.

I HAVE bought weekend tickets more then after day they went on sale... I have never waited more then 5 min for a beer.. and never had to sneak to smoke cuz no one ever saw me cuz I was standing watching an act. *shrug*

I even seen these girls on the ground laughing there asses off taking zip lock bags of vodka out of there backpacks and security seeing them and laughing and went up to talk to them and politely took it away while laughing

YES the heat is a bitch.. YES the line ups are not what they use to be.. Every year.. But man the event is not THAT bad

I D K I always saw Coachellla as a place where you come to listen to your fav band (Portishead) and lstumble across a bunch of really good "new" bands and producers on the way back . Good line up IMO.......

Not very happy about the lineups myself...

I say they should have moved
MR.Jack Johnson for the last day...and
Roger Waters for the First day.
By the way went to see 'Roger Water's' perform last year @ hollywod bowl.

SIMPLY AMAZING!!

All the other bands can go pick up there GEAR and GO HOME!!!!
'Darkside of the Moon' WILL be the only show worth going to see!!

never been to Coachella so looking forward to the experience. many of the acts i have seen at smaller venues which was awesome, it will be odd to see them translate to a huge arena. some artists on there i am like "who paid whom for them to get on". I am a HUGE Portishead fan so no complaints there (though i wish i could see them in a smaller venue like their DVD in NYC). i always miss Coachella due to shows out of town, this year not so i am just going to show up with a smile and not judge it till the last act is done

You couldnt be more wrong about this. Last year w/ Rage was the fastest sellout ever and the single day tickets sold out long before the 3 day. Then a month or so later when the 3 days did sell out, you can still by them @ the globe in Pomona. I bought mine about 3 weeks before the show. Recognize

i think people are more tripping about the headliners than anything else. the middle of the lineup is always packed with cutting edge acts, perhaps pschologically its the jack johnson thing that scares everyone. it is a big WTF?...

imo, its silly to give a s**t about the jungle at coachella, we get every act for a 10th of the price alot of the time... ending up in the jungle room always seemed like a waste of the day. so many new acts to discover, so many bands whose cd's will never equal the first time when you heard it live.

YUP!! they do!
the promoters from Guerilla Union are close to that guy, and last year he let us know that he was going to sell them out that same day, because he doesn't want to over crowd the venue, or oversell what he actually has...

I've met a ton of people from the Uk that wait all year for this event, it's f**kin insane how f**kin packed it gets.... not to mention all the out of towners that fill up all the hotels down here in the valley, from palm springs - coachella.. thats like 7 towns yo!


I do agree though the lineup is pretty weak..

I wanna see Lucky I am, dan le sac & scoobium pip, kid sister, and chromeo, little brother, MIA, & portishead... and a few others...

although i wouldn't pay that much just for one of those living legend cats, they should have them all on stage!

but yeah Jack johnson (WTF?) thats weak! but you gotta do your best to make everyone happy riiight?


I usually don't have to pay for my coachella fest tickets- thankgod!! otherwise i wouldn't go..

it's f**kin HOT as f**k! and theres so much walking just to get in the damn venue.

but if theres a dnb tent like last year, i would totally pay to see all of you guys again!!

I have and it was CACA... I saw LTJ buken bore the non receptive crowd to sleep I saw dilinja complain about the sound the whole time he played. I saw roni size play the same set he did at the house of blues not a month before hand I saw bad company(uk) and didn't hear one tune over MC?... oh I've been there and done that.
no coachella line up has matched the 1999 event. and the jungle room is pretty suck from the dry grass that smells like horse s**t to the non junglist crowd,
out of all the coachellas I've been to which was all except last years there were a handfull of truly memorable sets.
pretty pathetic considering the events potential...
go walk miles in the heat .. have a blast I hope you have a good one.. I'll stay in LA and sleep tight in my own bed...

omg... well brotha..no offense but..as you mentioned, u did not attend last year where bassrush took over the dome and was DNB pretty much all weekend..
perhaps the AMAZING crowd response that occured (check on rukes for pics)
triggered something in goldenvoice to extend a little more quality to DNB presence..but in the end..it's to each their own..and I wish you well in bed in la that weekend..

and btw.....no..pendulum live (assuming the rumor is true) has not played in north america...let alone LA..

I have and it was CACA... I saw LTJ buken bore the non receptive crowd to sleep I saw dilinja complain about the sound the whole time he played. I saw roni size play the same set he did at the house of blues not a month before hand I saw bad company(uk) and didn't hear one tune over MC?... oh I've been there and done that.
no coachella line up has matched the 1999 event. and the jungle room is pretty suck from the dry grass that smells like horse s**t to the non junglist crowd,
out of all the coachellas I've been to which was all except last years there were a handfull of truly memorable sets.
pretty pathetic considering the events potential...
go walk miles in the heat .. have a blast I hope you have a good one.. I'll stay in LA and sleep tight in my own bed...

basicly i think piston is saying that realistically for those who:


-dont have friends who live in the middle of the desert

-will require at least a quarter of dank to survive the day (which is pretty much 50% of the people on this board),

-might want to drink water and eat food while on premisis...who knows maybe a beer or 4.

... these people, which is alot of the audience on this board... might think twice about spending $300+ for 1 day. especially if it also involves buying the same for a significant other. Everyones got decisions to make. Getting hooked up is always nice, but not always the reality.

I will be front and center for this event the entire weekend, so many amazing acts, not to mention the art stuff, crazy people, and various forms of debauchery that make Coachella so memorable(?).

Despite the naysayers, I think we all can still agree this is the best music fest in the US these days...

Last year (my first year going) is up there with the best musical experiences of my life, no doubt.
