the only 2x4 that i have seen executed without complications was by Faust and Shortee. Thats probly cause they've been doin it for years. They are pros at it. its their act.
Otherwise, there has been a sound issue or some other problem with every 2x4 ive seen.
it always sounds better as an idea

Myself and Slinky make up Cruell & Unusual. We are performing at Konneckt on Apr 26th, and working on a 2X4 demo over the next month. When are you looking to do this?
And I agree about the sound issues. 2X4's are difficult to keep leveled correctly. |

I've only done 2X4's with breakbeats, and it's always sounded good. Can't say I actually practice it though. |

Done it ... super fun
(probably because I was blessed with Phear as a partner though) 
however ....
if you're gonna do a night of this my suggestion is at the very least let the Dj's pick their partners. Maybe select half of your lineup and have those people choose who they play with instead of saying "hey I was hoping you would play with so in so" to build the lineup you want. That often makes for really interesting combinations with back to back sets but 2x4's are another animal. DnB is what 2x4 breakbeat sets aspire to be. The complexity is what makes it interesting but if you double that up and the dj's aren't meshing well it can sound like percussion chaos.
Two good Dj's doesn't necessarily make for a good 2x4. |

2x4's are always fun..
There is no sound issues as long as people work together and know how to let the other guy lead... etc.. (one mix while the other scratches or throws in accapellas, sound efx, etc...
