Re: New York
MOMA or STFU!
from dali to design..
5 stories of modern art from...its unreal. they have free days once a week too. there are lines on the free day but they move reeealy fast...no joke.
The guggenheim is a spectacle to see. the only museum in the world where the work is upstaged by the building. som artists refuse to show here because of the non traditional layout... amazing place to see at least once.
the whitney always has amazing contemporary work. They are one of the most prominent private museums that is an honor for any artist to be shown in.
A small but fun place is the museum of sex, cool exhibits, art and other stuff .
These are just some of the museums, but they are the best imo. Youll have plenty of amazing stuff to see.
If i can reccomend one thing too. go to a newstand and buy a sunday NY Times!!!!!!! I mean before you go, they have all the gallerys, clubs, returaunts...eeeeveything...ALSO, there is a magazine you can buy here in cali that is the ny equivelent of the la weekly. its called 'TIME OUT' NY. its avalible on every corner in nyc but it is here for a couple bucks...totally worth it.
seriously, plan ahead, you will be overwhelmed if you try everything on the fly. BUT, be sure to take a day or two to just wander, you can plan all you want but the city will reward you for spontineity. ride the subway, walk down canal street to buy fake gucci (amazing knockoffs).
One other thing...if you have any desire to see theater (broadway or off broadway), be sure to buy your tickets at the TKTS booth in times square. they sell tickets to all the shows on the 'day of' so you can buy a ticket, 3 hours before a matinee for up to 75% off.
have fun...its easy ot do in ny... |

Re: New York
coney island i think everyone has to do at least once, especially since they're threatening to tear it down to build condos (lame). we went there a few days ago.
the murakami exhibit is there i think at moma now, it was already in la but if you haven't seen it, check it out.
walk the brooklyn bridge. spectacular.
and theres a zillion other things. what part of NYC are you staying in? that might help a bit. we're here visiting now, signing the lease for my new place in may. give a shout! theres tons more to do here. |
