That dynamic DJ/MC duo, of DJ JAYVON & MC XYZ aka Golden St. Warriors, are back at it again with their 5th drum n bass mixed CD entitled "The Black Mix". The Black Mix (as MC XYZ calls it in a rhyme) is a 'scrap book' of sorts of the many styles that this duo has repp'd over the years be it from their live shows to their highly successful mixes. From the dancefloor to the iPod, from the avid drum n bass fan to the casual listener, from witty lyrics to rhymes that are subject driven, DJ JAYVON and MC XYZ touch all aspects that have made them successful over the years.
DJ JAYVON's mix and programming is stellar as he shows why he is a nationwide booked and respected DJ. From being able in one mix to change the mood of it 180 degrees but still keep the story of the mix in tact, his mix selection is a constant building of tracks that in the end leaves you more then satisfied. His partner in crime MC XYZ laces the mix with some intelligent, witty and diverse styles of mcn'. From breaking down 'how to MC' to singing to funny ad libs, the MCn' is on point.

Colonel, seriously u are like the 100th person to ask me that, ha! It is the furthest from the truth. We at first tinkered with dropping a truly BLACK MIX [which is a play off of a true BLACK ALBUM] (which means u drop a cd/album with no promotion of it and it just catches on by ear)...so that was plan 1. Then J said "letz do electro too" (since he plays it a lot). So if we had "the Black Mix" then we would have "The White Mix", ha. |

Its very nice when a group project that needs a great deal of attention from different people just fits into place. Jayvon mixing is very clean and flow very well thru the different styles. Working with XYZ on these two projects was perfect. He was very professional and extremely consistent. He is an excellent live performer and adapted his skills extremely well at my studio. I put a ton of hours into the recording, layering vocals, engineering, mixing, mastering. And it was great to compile and mix a project that you feel and dig on. These guys handle bizz and remain at the front of our local scene and for good reason. I will gladly take on any future projects from them or whoever else emulate the skills they put out. This mix sounds dope because they laid down quality music for me to work with and it was a real pleasure to work with these professional talents. Keep releasing quality mixes!!!!
