Apparently, Dj Tron was found dead last night in his studio. He was a big legend in the Hardcore Gabber movement & was scheduled to play @ Sacrifice tonight in Los Angeles, His death believed to be a possible overdose...

One hard dude, f**k. RIP. Heres some fool's crazy ass story about an underground where tron headlined back in the day.

Infoline sent us to Zero One Art Gallery on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, we were kinda used to going to this spot for a map point, nothing out of th ordinary. Map point took us to some mexican swap meet parking lot in Bell, we jumped into a shuttle bus, and got whisked away to the party which was about 3-4 miles from the parking lot. Hardcore dj Tron was headlining the main room, early on in the night I noticed a handful of guys wearing gas masks carrying around video cameras, thought it was weird but hell raves are f**king weird. Tron hit the decks, I was still kinda fresh to the whole rave music thing and was curious to check out what he was all about. The room went really dark, some backwards words started playing through the system. Then I noticed dudes running out of the back room with all their records then a couple guys carrying the entire turntable set up out of the warehouse, I was standing near the exit door which was right next to a big roll up door. Then suddenly I took a breath and it felt like someone reached their hands into my lungs and dumped a handful of chalk into them. I could barely breath, then a mob of people came rushing at me, Mike and Caine, so we turned and bolted towards the door and got out to this gated outdoor area, I swear that warehouse cleared out within 5 min, there must've been 1000 people there all rammed into this outside area. Then the big roll up door opened up and low and behold Tron was still playing with a gasmask on along with about 10 other dudes rocking out by the decks all wearing gasmasks. I still to this day have no idea what they pumped into that room to clear it out that way. We all felt stuck as the shuttle buses were getting rammed with people leaving, it must've taken a couple hours for the warehouse to air out. We hung out for about 3 hours then jumped into the shuttle bus and went home. Fucking scary s**t being stuck in some random warehouse in the ghetto of LA in the middle of the night.

Very depressing news!! Tron was the s**t! Not into hardcore anymore as much as I was when I was younger, but he was definately one of my favorite hardcore DJs.

Under the guise of DJ TRON (a.k.a. Torturous Rage of Noise), Jeff Besler has transcended his Chicago roots and infiltrated listeners’ minds around the world with his demonically brilliant signature sound. Displaying a production style that draws from a broad foundation of techno, hardcore, speedcore, industrial and noise, TRON varies in taste from track to track, but one aspect remains constant – his music is all dark and deeply complex, just the way fans of aggressive electronic sounds like it.



Besler says he began his career as TRON with a mission to create his own individual style of music. "I was just angry, at the time, at how weak hardcore had gotten," he recalls. "So, I cranked up the BPMs, threw in terror galore, screams, chainsaws, whatever, into the sequencer and just made ugly symphonies that I was lucky enough to have pressed.

Working for years with his studio gear and sampling through his computer – he uses Cubase VST – Besler is quickly growing into the new technological advances made available today in studio equipment and programming. Soon he expects to offer performances that mix a live PA and normal DJ set. "I embrace technology, if it is for common good, and music is. Now I try and put a stronger emphasis on doing new things to the hardcore: new structuring, wilder compositions, and basic things that might have been considered taboo in the world of hardcore, until now.

Drawing both influence and inspiration from artists such as Skinny Puppy, The Destroyer, David Cronenberg, and Hyperactive, TRON has progressed in both performance and creation since his inception in 1991. "I started checking out techno," he says. "Some of the industrial bands were dabbling in that area at the time, and it became a very logical progression into hardcore from there. At first, it reminded me of digital punk rock, but after time I knew it could be so much more. This s**t could go balls-out and try to become a legitimate style of its own. It has so much aggression…and that’s what drives me, is aggression. I just knew that I had to be the one manipulating the sickest sounds on the planet.

With the conception of both Resurrection and Chrome Padded Cell, among numerous other releases on the HeadFuck imprint, he has created a strong platform for his original intention of sound orchestration. The latter album especially reflects his ability to effectively master a cross between the percolating tweaks and digital acid soundscapes of industrial music, and the twisted pounding 200-BPM of speedcore. TRON guides the listener through distinct journeys within each of his tracks, using an incredibly meticulous layering process.



"When I sit down to write a song, I basically start out with an approximate BPM range. From there, I just audition sounds, experiment with structure and decide what kind of track I’m looking at. I try not to use pre-sampled loops or sounds. It reminds me of putting together somebody else’s puzzle.

Between his distortion kicks and swelling bass lines, one is drawn into a gripping anticipation of what is to come. Perhaps more important than his technical achievements are the events of the past that have shaped him into the producer that he is today. "If there is one thing I have learned, it is that you can physically hurt someone for a short period of time, but you can mentally torment someone a lot longer, and not even be there. People have gotten at me through my head all of my life, and I have molded what was left into chaos. My songs have lives of their own. I just put together the pieces.

DJ TRON has always been one of my favorite dj's. I saw him play many shows in L.A. and always had a great time when I went. I hadnt been able to get out and see him in the last few years, now I wish I did... Anyone who had seen him play knows how great of a dj/producer he was... Much RESPECT out to DJ TRON... Condolences out to his family and friends... He WILL be missed...

Techno State 1997, was the name of the party where someone sprayed some pepper spray. The jungle room was kicking off..the hardcore room was insane!
I was baking balls when that went down...was on my way back from the jungle room when all of a sudden, a mob a people where headed my way...then that's when i smelt the pepper spray in the air.

My name is Bryan and I was a good friend of Jeff's. I grew up with him in Chicago Heights and knew him and his family long before he was ever Dj Tron.

I want to put to rest some rumors that are flying around out there right now. As of right now, the coroner is ruling this an accidental death. Police found NO evidence of drugs, an overdose or suicide when they found him. Until the medical examiner releases his report, we won't know anything.

While all of you know him for being one hard core mother f**ker, I knew him as a friend, as the godfather of my daughter. He was an Evan's Scholar, a member of the National Honor Society, a damn good Dj and most importantly an incredible friend. And I'll miss him.

This breaks my heart like you wouldn't believe. First Ledger and now another master of their craft.

I can only hope his afterlife has everything he craved in life and more. He will be missed and always respected.

To go out on a high note. I want to thank you for one of the most memorable nights of my life, back when a rave was just referred to as a underground party. I unfortunately don't remember the name of the party but I do remember that Dj Tron was the headliner. He stepped up, I was buzzing pretty hard off some good ol' alcohol. Everyone was climbing over each other to get as close to the front as possible for his performance, the speaker f**kers were in full effect, the people looked like spiders as they climbed to the top of the speaker stacks. The track Cerebral Bore came on, the place went insane. I remember watching, the crowd was pumping to the beat in perfect sequence. I was mind blown, it looked like a living beating heart right before my eyes. The entire night was one for the books and I have you to thank for that Tron. Thank you.

First off i think this is jungle related, cuz if your in L.A. it's a good bet you knew who TRON was before Jungle.
these styles are like brothers and came from the same humble beginings.....
anyways,
so good to see the love for a guy who got alot of jungle heads into the scene into first place.

i was lucky enough to know him from the various parties we brought him out to (PWLY,AIU) Always down to earth since day one.
We were gunna pick up jeff and take him to sacrifice that day too.

L.A. will def miss you!

The man was a mad inspiration behind the decks.

My fav Tron set was when he played for his birthday at OPIUM. Dude showed what the word skill meant fo real.
