are there any djs?
Are there any djs that regularly mix drum and bass with breaks? does it have its own genre? I know the bpm are completely different on the two types but I love both musics and would love to have a set full of it. |

Re: are there any djs?
I mix breaks with drum and bass.
What I typically do is have drum and bass records that have breaks breakdowns. From there I'll mix the breaks in and that's about it.
Usually it's half and half with the first half being dnb and the second half breaks. The reason is because I don't know of any breaks records that speed up into drum and bass.
You could always put a dnb record on half speed and it would be breaks but then it sounds kind've weird.
I don't have any mixes out that do this but I will be putting something together in the near future =) |

Re: are there any djs?
I've always called it drum and breaks hahaha. Good s**t.
Hopefully when I get around to making tunes I will have my own breaks stuff that speeds up into drum and bass.
Then I'll be able to transition between each one every couple tracks

Re: are there any djs?
the last time I played Broke on Sundays I played a breakbeat into DnB set, went from the breakbeat Fireball into 33rpm DnB version of Fireball, hit the 45 rpm button at the break down, smooth as silk.
I also have an hour mix on my myspace page that goes from 2-step into Breaks into liquid rolling DnB. |

Re: are there any djs?
When i start seeing tracklists that look like the playlist on Annie Mac's Mashup then i'll be bouncing off the walls...
dubstep, drum and bass, indie, breaks, garage and few other aurally pleasing wildcards...
yuuup...
That does my ears good for really...
BTW...
Herve, Sinden, and Martelo have been throwin some dope mixes that are startin to get on that vibe.

Re: are there any djs?
breaks and dnb are my two favorite gernes. im one of the only dj's in las vegas that will play breaks, electro house, and end with dnb all in the same set. now that i have reasontly found out that dub step is the s**t, im gonna now start with dub step then go into breaks or electro whatever i feel like at the time then end with dnb. it will progress faster and harder from start to finish simply go with the flow.... |

Re: are there any djs?
thats all they have here! breaks with a dash of dnb. its not my thing at all cuz the breaks ive heard are sooo corny (except 2 sets.. 1 old school breaks set that was awesome.. and some 'nu breaks' he called it that was kinda hip hop/gangsta steez). but thats where i am, my area. that guy rick west is here and always plays but i never went to see him. probably good. ive played lots of parties where its dnb one room and breaks the other. also played these outdoor skyway bridge moonlight parties where they go dnb/breaks/dnb/breaks the whole night. thats where i heard the old school set. yeah. n-e-way
go to floridadnb.com and ask that question you'll get hooked up i bet. |
