How the Internet saved Jungle...

With practically no major media market, no radio, no television, no publications...here we are.

The Bass & the Drums are alive & kicking.
It's safe to say that this genre not only continues to grow but has also sustained itself by those that are truly passionate about it.

I'm an everyday Junglist , here's to you 'the Internet'.

Yeah, it'd be nice if I can meet people -- people who say they like drum&bass -- whose eyes dont glaze over once I start talking about it.

Re: How the Internet saved Jungle...

I would seriously say the internet single handedly saved Drum and Bass. How would anyone know about anything? newspaper? magazines? record shops/stores?

cheers to the internet! the information super highway. and a great place for funny pictures

Re: How the Internet saved Jungle...

I think it will eventually catch on...

that is why the electro scene is so big because w/ blogs EVERYONE has access to and more knowledge of the music not just mp3 mixes.

Sure theres alot of crap on blogs... but theres alot of crappy dnb that's pressed on vinyl too

http://www.SEENnotSCENE.com

as of now it's a hybrid DnB/Electro/Art
I post stuff i find and stuff submitted to me

Re: How the Internet saved Jungle...

the other day I was at the bar and I was talking to this guy about DNB and he was like you are the first person I have talked to in years that even knows what DNB is. I was pretty shocked about his remark.. I thought the world was starting to catch on to what good music is.. but reality is they are still listening to that garbage on the radio that they call music.

Big ups to all my Junglists!!

Re: How the Internet saved Jungle...

catch on? i don't think its about that - tastes change all the time. i'd rather not feel like i was in a momentary state of love with certain genres of music but rather have it be something of major influence and longevity in my life. electro might be "in" now but it will run its course and there will be a new flavor that the dance scene is going to be hip on -it happens generations over & over. i'm happy i've stayed true to my jungle roots and stayed open minded about a lot of other music as well. the internet has most definitely helped with that.

Re: How the Internet saved Jungle...

cheers to the internet, indeed!

i used to DL choons/mixes off Napster b4 all the hype of free music back in '96...educating myself and being completely jealous of our Canadian bredren and their Toronto jungle scene, lol. i used to chat it up with Torontonian junglists just to get the scoop on their parties on icq, lol. good f**king times, staring at 4 DL's of tunes all goin at the fast pace of 56k. LMAO

Re: How the Internet saved Jungle...

by "catch on" i didn't mean jumping the band wagon to electro, i meant by making and ultizing blogs more...

alot of electro and even hip hop artists post tunes up and make them accessible on their blogs etc.
and by accessible I mean to a broader audience than just djs who in turn play the tunes.

By doing so, it makes their music more accessible and increase the knowledge of the average attendee

perhpas a low kpbs version just for listening purposes.

i'm NOT saying they should give all their tunes away
