How did you become the lead singer for the Wailers?
I was 19 years old when I took over the lead vocals. It was in 1996 and I just got into the music business, I met through Al Anderson because he lived near me in L.A. and I was working on a demo and did not have a guitarist. I asked him to come in and play everything and heard my music and voice and junior left and he played my stuff for family man and they asked me to come out onto tour with them
How did you respond to that invitation?
I was unsure about it because I mean it was the Wailers. Then I was like, “What am crazy?” I had never gotten up in front of an audience before and I got to do my first show with the band I loved my whole life.
What was that first show like?
My first show ever was with the wailers in Dubuque Iowa in front of 5,000 people. I had not had a chance to rehearse with the band so I had to go off the records and tapes I listened to when I was growing up. Our second show was in front of 15,000. We did not have sound check or rehearsal for first nine shows. I was not afraid of the crowd, but I wanted to make sure I had all the lyrics right because everybody knows Bob Marley’s music.
Why did you leave the Wailers in 1999?
I was still young. I wanted to go do my own thing and get my name out there. I put out my first album, “Together as One,” in 2006.
What has been the biggest compliment you received on tour with the Wailers?
We do four new songs every night and the biggest compliment I have gotten was that people didn’t know the difference between the new stuff and the original Wailers’ stuff. They usually think it was unreleased Marley stuff or obscure Wailers’ material. That is what I set out to do,
What was the response from other artists on collaborating on the new Wailers’ album?
Nine times out of 10, heck even 10 out of 10, they said they would be honored to be part of that. I went to musicians who were inspired by [Bob Marley]. They were honored to be a part of it, to a point they wanted to take the songs and put them on their own album. We even hope to have some of the artists come on stage during this tour when we can work out our schedules.

i think its a launch of a clothing line... "Rebel Toots"
not sure if they are selling vinyl.
