Re: Dylan/SPL/Limewax at Beyond the Beat
I only bring it up because according to Robyn Chaos, an event cannot be classified a "Therapy Sessions" without:
a) At least 2 Anger Management artists
b) A venue with 400+ capacity.
So far this seems to be the first actual Therapy Sessions. |

Re: Dylan/SPL/Limewax at Beyond the Beat
^^
Not with the crew, just making an observation. Planned a show in LA last year with Dylan and SPL that was to be titled "Therapy Sessions LA" and it was nixed because even though the venue was 800 capacity, it was a 3 room event and was only 150 capacity for our room. Dropped Dylan from the lineup when I was told I couldn't use the name and the venue still pulled 500 heads that night. Seems like they relaxed their original quota because Play Lounge is definitely not 400 capacity. Regardless, I'm stoked for this event. And I'm not your son. |

he specifically started a thread to talk s**t about promoters that have thrown "Therapy Sessions" in the past in Los Angeles, not only is it unnecessary, it seems incredibly stupid
if you want people to book artists of this ilk why are you going to attack the promoters that book them?
additionally he ALWAYS comes across as having a chip on his shoulder about his stupid death and bass niche, like more people should like it and people should book it this way and that way
its extremely abrasive and i can only imagine that he is 100% social fail

Re: Dylan/SPL/Limewax at Beyond the Beat
Negative, Robyn said we couldn't call it that when Dylan and SPL were both booked based on the capacity of the room being used didn't reflect on what they were trying to "promote as a brand." So we decided to drop Dylan because the price wasn't right without being able to promote the event as a Therapy Sessions, which I figured would have helped pull more heads and because I was essentially doing the event to promote SPL (a close friend of mine) rather than Dylan, anyway.
Eecue actually came down to this event to take photos and to interview SPL, but he took off before SPL's set was finished so the interview never took place. Not sure what happened with the photos but we were actually a bit disappointed the interview didn't take place because Sam said he would name drop my label a few times as a favor to me just to spite the haters on here.

Re: Dylan/SPL/Limewax at Beyond the Beat
....."And yes, speaking of records on consignment at Temple of Boom...due to that incident, webster's removed my picture next to the definition for "douchebag" and replaced it with a picture of SamXL and Hazen".
Unfortunately the asaid mentioned records were entered by no fault of myself or of Hazen into the "DOUCHEBAG HALL OF FAME." (You went ALL CITY IN FACT!)
Records enter the Douchebag Hall of Fame after being placed on the wall for display for several months, but no matter how they are presented, pushed or how many times they are played NO ONE WILL BUY THEM....EVER.
They are then removed from display and shelved under the bins until the aforementioned Douchebag, "Death to Douchie" comes in to pick them up.
This usually never happens however as the Douchebag that brought them doesn't want to hear "sorry bruv after spending 6 months on the Temple of Boom wall, placed in every section available, your record has now been shelved in the Douchebag Hall of Fame, down there next to all those cheesy ass trance records that Majestic Distribution GAVE us when we first opened 3 years ago and we tried to sell for 99cents but ended up instead playing frisbee out back with the buggars"
Sadly over the 13 years of owning & running record stores I have witnessed this phenomenon all to often. I don't have the time nor the inclination to list all of the toons/artists/labels that have held regular spots in The Douchebag Hall of Fame but my fellow vinyl shoppers i'm sure you can contend that in your many years of crate digging you have witnessed the Douchebag Hall of Fame phenomenon.
You know, you go to your local record shop and notice the stack of records on the wall with the cheesy, over produced artwork, and are too afraid to even be seen looking at the cover, never mind actually picking the record off the wall, and low and behold the stack is still there 3-4 months later but unfortunately now has matriculated down to the sad, dusty and lonely spot of the last rung on the wall down by the floor.
The only hope now for this vinyl release is that some crazed customer from Japan comes in high on angel dust and buys the whole stack, taking them home for their friends (often used to happen with the Aphrodite section!) or the inevitable.....................................................................................
THE DOUCHEBAG HALL OF FAME.
I have witnessed it happen all to often to the members of the DOUCHEBAG HALL OF FAME...after entering they become disgruntled, disheartened and very bitter, choosing to spend their time coming on Chat forums (especially this one and DOA) bitching and criticizing and pointing blame, all because their records weren't purchased by anyone other than their extended family (and now sit in boxes in their garage or in the shed at the end of the garden).
Even though the record may be framed right next to Dylan & Limewax's "Cleansed by a Nightware" and Tech Itch's "Soldiers" at home above the mantel, it's now time to face the facts Death to Douchie.....your record sucks donkey dicks homey....you have entered THE DOUCHEBAG HALL OF FAME....NOBODY LIKED IT AND THE FACT IS YOU WAISTED THE VINYL TO EVEN PUT IT OUT AND THE INK FOR YOUR BADLY DESIGNED U.V COATED "WANNA LOOK SUPER DARK, BUT INSTEAD LOOKS LIKE A CRAPPY HALLOWEEN RAVE FLYER" SLEEVE. Get over it, the record sucked, didn't sell, and basically took up space in the shop for long enough that the shop closed, we did a massive B-B-Q announcing this fact but you were too embarassed to come get your records out the THE DOUCHEBAG HALL OF FAME.
I'm sorry homey.
I guess you're just a douchebag.
