I have been asked to reach out to anyone who may have been present on the night in question.
The night of this tragic event took place.
If you were there and witnessed any part of this senseless act of violence and did or did not give a statement to the LAPD you are encouraged to call Michele Hanisee

The trial of Robert's killer is supposed to start August 22, 2008 in the criminal court building at 210 W. Temple St in downtown LA. People v. Juan Lopez - BA274123. I know there were a lot of witnesses, I hope some of you step forward - (I don't know what the prosecution's case is like, but) would be a trajedy so see this guy not get convicted because no one responded to this plea from the DA!

I was supposed to go that night, missed it due to a nagging gf. To this da the whole thing kinda creeps me out. He seemed like such a great guy. I'm really glad that they caught the person that did it and I really hope he gets a proper conviction. I'm sure I'm not alone when I was beginning to think that this was going to be another unsolved senseless murder in LA. One love.

You can be there on the day we start jury selection. That can be a couple of days.

Dep. 100 is in the same courthouse on the 13th floor. We will not do the trial in that courtroom - that is just where we go to get assigned to a trial court. We will not know where we are getting assigned until that morning. But it will be a courtroom in the same building.

Hopefully jury selection will take no more than two days.



The main number for the D.A.'s officer, Hardcore Gang Division is 213-974-3903.

You are entitled to make a statement at sentencing. But if the defendant is found guilty of murder - the judge really has no choices. He has to sentence him to a life sentence.

We do have the death penalty in California. But in order to qualify, there has to be what is called a "special circumstance" alleged. That is some additional fact that makes the defendant eligible for the death penalty. We do not have a special circumstance in this case so the defendant would not be eligible for the death penalty.

I know the truth will prevail and I hope Robert's family finds some kind of peace finally.

Robert was a good guy who I only briefly knew , but I'm sure he would be proud of all the support from everyone.

I got back from the trial today. Me and some family/friends went, plus our legal team of course. The prosecution's case rested today. Sat/Sun is day off and Monday is a holiday, Tuesday they won't be ready so on Wednesday the Defense case starts. The trial may be finished on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. So far the trial is going well. We would like as many of Robert's family and friends as possible to attend the trial! If you are able to, please attend the trial on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, the more days the better. Having more people attend will help our case. I got back from the trial today. Today was the start of the defense's case and they called their witnesses. They finished their case today. Tomorrow will be the closing arguments and the jury's decision. Today there we had: Me, my Mom Silvia, my Dad Steve, my Grandpa Briggs, Grand Aunt Rita, Grand Uncle Henry. We had the district attorney Michelle Hennesy(sp?), Detective Jeff Nolte, and the Victims Advocate Albert Herrera there as well. The trial seems to be going well. I'll post more information about what happens tomorrow after we come back from the final day! Mike :-)

Tomorrow is the last day of the trial for Robert. Many people went to the funeral sessions for Robert but not as many are going to the trial to support the family. We want you there to support us please in our time of need!!

Robert was a much loved member of the Junglescene community who was brutally murdered while attending a club show for jungle music in October 2002 in Los Angeles. Detectives have worked on his case since then, arrested the suspect, constructed a case, and are in the midst of the trial right now. The trial for his murder is having it's last day tomorrow. Please come and support Robert, the family, and the case by attending the last day of the trial. It's at the criminal court building at 210 W. Temple St in downtown LA. It's the "People v. Juan Lopez - BA274123" case. Go to the 15th floor and immediately when you exit the elevator turn left and then make another left. The last or second to last room on the left is the courtroom for the case and it's room 126, if you come in sit all the way on the left, which is where the prosecutions family and friends are sitting. Come very early because the traffic and parking are very difficult! If you can make it that would be great, because right now is the time where we would like support the most, and it will help the case, and honor the memory of Robert! hi all,
good to hear that they finally found a suspect and maybe even the killer. I still think of Robert sometimes and I only met him once, 2 days before he was murdered.
may he be in heaven and may his family come to rest after these awful years of knowing that the murderer is still out there.
