Re: Exclusive Interview with DJ Craze [mp3]

its crazy that the dnb world treated him like they did. hes an amazing dj, and it just goes to show what politics can do.. you would think someone of his status would be above that...

just goes to show you its not about skills, but who you know....(not taking anything away from anyone, but come on..)

Looking forward to checking this mix!

I feel bad that he has had to justify himself, to be honest it doesn't matter, none of it does, everyone makes mistakes.. and you learn from them.

This scene is very forgiving, you pick yourself up and get on!

Re: Exclusive Interview with DJ Craze [mp3]

Craze doesnt have to, you were just one ignorant person out of many that just believed the wrong s**t to be true, and you would have so boldy perpetuated the bulls**t had he or anyone else not spoken up.

This s**t is so backwards, I dont even know what to say. Music deosnt really sell anyway guys, so the more people playing your s**t, the more people are saying your name, then you get requested more to perform. Its that simple right now.

His contribution to the Fabriclive mix series is pretty ill, I definitely suggest folks check it out.

And as mentioned in the Media Contender comments, Craze is performing at Nocturnal next weekend!

I always thought that was the forumula? To get your tunes to people who are playing out a lot, especially bigger shows, to in turn get exposure?

I didn't think that formula ever changed since the very beginning.

Anyway, sending Craze tunes Hopefully he's still droppin the DNB.

Idono about that man "figured he can just jump in and win us over"....you serious?? Ive seen Craze multiple times, 2x at Funktion and 2x Tekdbz parties and EVERY TIME he rinsed it huge!...his miami heat mix is handz down sick as f**k. His Mixmag mix is sick as f**k with the old skewl jungle beats.

jungle and turntablism are NOT on the opposite ends of the world.... DJ HYPE, Teebee, Shortee, Photek + more have always mixed and scratched, double drop during sets...

I hope for another tekdbz party in the future, so Craze can get his passion back for the dnb....or a bassrush warehouse party haha

"I always thought that was the forumula? To get your tunes to people who are playing out a lot, especially bigger shows, to in turn get exposure?"

I sorta stopped being like that though, and more turned into a power thing. So many restrictions, you can't play this here, or that tune when you play over there ... Sorta like the mafia .. you need to kiss rings to get those tunes ... if you don't, you've pissed off the family!

What's surprising to me, is that Craze doesn't have better management. He's seemed to have made quite a few newbie mistakes (licensing, playing the wrong tunes). He needs someone who can A) act as a handler for these issues, and B) protect him from making mistakes in the first place

if you actually read the interview then u would have seen that he stated himself that he did make a mistake and apologized to the artist for doin it. so did he blame everyone but himself?
how can it b bitchin and cryin if these questions were askd by the host of the interview. sure, he could have said no comment, but he didnt and he stated the reasons.

the way i see it is djs were afraid to give him the cuts because with his skill level, most of the 2nd tier djs would be replaced...

you have to admit that Craze can put on a stage show that will put most people to shame. match that with the top tunes in the scene and people like Andy, Friction, Mampi and whom ever else have to up there stage show just to compete....

i wouldn't give anyone the ammo to take me out either.. i think Craze should take this as a complement, and laugh about it...

No Politics in D&B? its notorious for being the dance music genre with so much politics people do not want to f**k with it, hence why so many "artists" in the states have started producing other genres under different alias'.

Re: Exclusive Interview with DJ Craze [mp3]

Did you read what AK1200 said?

http://forum.breakbeat.co.uk/tm.aspx?m=1970752284

"you know what???? here it is right here.... Craze is one of the most talented dj's the planet will ever see. back in the day when he was just a fan of DnB, he was genuine about it. i remember playing a show in south florida, and this unknown kid came on after me and ripped the hell out of my last tune, making the most disgusting cutting and scratching i have ever seen. that was Craze.

then he started playing more and more dnb in his sets, doing routines with a few dnb tunes etc...

from there man, i am sorry , but he got all different, or maybe his colors came out.

straight up, this dude would be the nicest guy you will ever talk to, real nice to you in person, then you go back and hear how he talked non stop s**t about you, your boys, everyone else. I tried hooking him up a few times with people for tunes, and as far as i know, he never said anything really bad about me, but i know he said some f**ked up s**t about dieselboy...

yeah it aint about having the freshest dubs and so on, but it is about the code of conduct and level of respect within the realm of the junglist world.

yeah he loved the music, but don't think he was about to sacrifice half of what alot of us have to stay in it. look at him now, i have heard from 3 different promoters lately about how hard he is dissing dnb now. f**k that man, thats all i got to say...... people can say what they want about me, but i have spent almost 20 years sacrificing myself for this music, and yeah i am one of those guys who took out bank loans and put up my car for money to throw a show only to lose money, btw that was in 1995 for a party i threw with suburban base, it was coincidentally the first time andy c was booked in the usa.

there is alot more to making dnb grow than playing the freshest dubs... especially here in the states, yeah its an uphill battle, so f**king what, thats what you are willing to do if you give a s**t about the music.......

am sorry to say it man, but yeah craze cares about craze, thats why he aint in dnb anymore......

at the end of the day, this is a long road, and it has ups and downs, and if everyone bailed out when s**t got tough here in the states especially, there would be no dnb here anymore....

nuff said.

respect to craze for being the baddest f**king dj on the planet, but he is way better off with turntablism and hip hop and bass music, atleast then he can be cool and humble and a better person, and not have to get involved in these "politics" "

"oh i forgot to mention the whole dub thing. I gotta say, craze should have been able to play whatever he wanted to play, and if he got a tune from a friend who thought he should play another friend's tune, so be it. when you get to a certain status, these producers/dj's should be happy that you want to play their tune and you like their tune. its not like the tune is gonna be dead cos craze played it. that part of dnb especially with a handful of the uk producers is what is most f**ked about our scene.

that said, it takes a lot more than just being a name to be able to play tunes. most of us have maintained relationships on a personal level with these producers for a long time, and the friendship outshines the business side of it. I mean, when i talk to andy or friction or whoever, we talk about golf and family and s**t, its not all, "hey man , got any tunes, wicked thanks, later"....

craze is a super likable guy and when you are talking to him he is friendly and down to earth, dubplate elitism should not have been a factor with him, and if it was purely cos of that reason that he is done with dnb, than that is a shame , cos he did contribute a great deal, just by being who he is.

what kinda bothers me about him though, honesty, is just because you are moving on to a better direction for yourself, does not mean you have to blatantly diss dnb to promoters or to fans who want to hear him play dnb, and most of all, while he was playing dnb, he should not have been 2 sided with people, because the person you say one thing to, is always gonna come back and tell the other person what was said.....

f**k me man, i dont want to come off as hating on him, i got mad love for him, and i think he is hands down the best technical dj in the world, and he has always been super cool to me in person, and i wish him the best, and i personally think he is destined for bigger things than drum and bass can ever offer him. he belongs with people like kanye and a trak and others who can help him get the most exposure and credibility he deserves."

ak1200
Junior Souljah

"yeah man, as i said he is mad cool, always very down to earth and humble and seems genuine. i guess sometimes people can get caught up in having a laugh at someone's expense, or maybe it could have been that
the one time you say something negative about someone is the one time it gets back to that person. i am specifically talking about dsl, i dont know that he is said anything about anyone else, i would like to think he hasnt. the only reason i am on here at all about this, is because i just got back from Puerto Rico, and heard some stuff about his severe anti dnb position now, and i heard about a thing in new york where he was on the mic basically saying please stop asking him to play dnb, that it is dead to him, and a few other things i dont need to go into. my thing, is you can move on, but why bash it, there was alot of fans he had from dnb, and alot of people he exposed to dnb, no need to diss it.....

but again, he is a f**king monster dj, and i wish him the best. he was bigger than dnb, and deserves to be in a place he can maximize his talents"

Re: Exclusive Interview with DJ Craze [mp3]

I think Dave AK is a great guy, and there is probably noone that I give more credit too than him for the establishment of this music in this country, so his word has serious weight, but it seems he was motivated to post on this more because craze allegedly talked s**t on DSL, one of his best friends, than the actual issue. Thats besides the point, literally, laying right beside the point. The point is that craze shouldnt have to work against the grain, he has earned a good position. So if he is getting too much resistance than why wouldnt he stop and get back on track with what he originally set out to do in music, which is have fun, cause again, he spent years in his bedroom perfecting the art of dj'ing, to be able to do just that.

I will never discount the dedication and commitment that people have made for this music, and those that have stuck out many years of ups and downs. I have made many of my own sacrifices to continue promoting dnb. I am really bummed that Craze, who I not only look up to as a great artist, but someone who has always been a positive, humble human being with me is not playing dnb. This is a music I love and because of the bulls**t we all deal with if your doing business in D&B, he has decided to leave it and pursue what makes him happy, so ya do I wish he would say f**k it and continue and I tell him whenever I see him, but if I was in his position and I had as many options as him, I would probably at least explore those options as well.

i agree that there are many other tunes worth looking for and playin.

if it really is bein bored, then why is it that people that played dnb for years are now playin dubstep. i know of many peeps who loved drum and bass and switched to dubstep. and now thats all they really do. may b because they could get into a new scene and become somethin bigger as a pioneer of the genre. who knws. everyone has their reasons for doin what they do.

Re: Exclusive Interview with DJ Craze [mp3]

yeh there is a lot that goes on in dnb that people don't want to shout about and she spoke up a little it got twisted and now AK1200 said a little more people have backed off her and I bet if the other people spoke up more too people would totally agree with missrepresent she knows a lot she knows her music and she has so much love for this scene when people diss drum and bass I think she maybe takes it too personally but at least shes passionate about it and cares for it there is more than AK1200 that has had problems with what Craze did there are more people who just don't talk about it why don't you get the hint

POLITICS!!!! u start rippin on someone and there goes ur rep and bookins in many areas of the world. im all about expressin ur opinions. but, u piss off the wrong heads and uv now burnt a bridge. but dont go and talk smack on people for havin their opinion. which u seem to do so well. so what if he said this and she said that. you have ur opinion everyone else has theres. and so b it. r we all supposed to have the same views no. but again, no need to bash all junglist for havin their words.

Re: Exclusive Interview with DJ Craze [mp3]

yeh but Craze is no junglist if he loved the music he would still play it. Thats a true junglist you don't need dubs to enjoy the music. He did s**t wrong and made out the scene is all about dubplates and kissing arse and its not and then he moaned about it and now he is still moaning about it. If you don't like a music scene and don't get on with some of the people in that music scene or if you dont get how that music scene works you don't need to go round hating on them all just because you felt bad vibes and say there are "politics" you should just accept you are making good money and playing music you enjoy he had it all he had big money and big gigs so why disrespect all the people who have paved the way for you to be able to do all that you don't do that do ya

According to Donny

the fact of the matter is, if his heart was really into drum & bass he'd still be playing it. he was a dope DJ but he got bored and moved on. OH WELL.
**********

i agree that there are many other tunes worth looking for and playin.

if it really is bein bored, then why is it that people that played dnb for years are now playin dubstep. i know of many peeps who loved drum and bass and switched to dubstep. and now thats all they really do. may b because they could get into a new scene and become somethin bigger as a pioneer of the genre. who knws. everyone has their reasons for doin what they do.
**********

if dubstep is all they do then maybe they're just bored of D&B too. there's nothing wrong with moving on to something else but if that's the case then just say it. don't start blaming everbody for not dropping a bunch of dubplates in your lap.

Re: Exclusive Interview with DJ Craze [mp3]

I ain't dissed no one? Nor did missrepresent she said many times she respected him as a turntablist just not as a drum and bass DJ so I'm stickin up for that girl because all she did was speak up about something and it got twisted and then the truth come out which she knew all along anyway and people are realising she was saying that all along the argument was that all he did was release a cd with tunes on and people were cussing her for the dirty dubs thing not the CD and then when he admitted it was dirty dubs in the interview people know this all along anyway. but its still not the issue now the issue is he pissed people off not just AK1200 and his boys who stepped in and they didn't treat him like the god you do and he wasnt used to it in drum and bass and all she said all that originally and people didnt understand why she was saying that but maybe you will understand it one day when you realise that if more spoke up a little there are many more people who have tried to explain the situation to Craze and he doesnt get it and doesnt listen and thats why he is still moaning in press and in public about it all. he needs to stfu and so do you all and you need to support people in drum and bass like missrepresent because they know thier s**t

would you leave something you truly loved just because no one would give you any dubplates? i wouldn't.

i think it stopped being super easy for him and just wasn't worth the effort anymore.

i dont think it stopped bein super easy. but if he didnt agree with the politics then thats his choice. he may still play dnb at home and make the big buck wit kanye. u never know.

again, i dont think that anyone should disrespect dnb or junglists if they love the music.
