"Yeh well I haven't come accross A listers with egos, and yes I do know a huge amount of them actually, and to be frank if thats what he thinks about our scene good riddance.

If anyone thinks that our hard working boys have egos and are assholes, what the f**k they playing drum and bass for?

I couldn't give a monkeys how good he is, he obviously didnt respect how things are done, and that is, you don't play tunes your not supposed to. That is what he did, he got cussed for it and what?

So its ok to be a huge Dj and just play what you like when you like? Thats just not how it goes is it.

I really really couldnt care how big and how successful and rich and great he is to be honest, he dissed our boys and continues to, and therefore I dont give a monkeys about him and im sure thats why he now doesnt play dnb."

************

That's it, he didn't have as much right to make a career in dnb as much as anyone else. There are a lot of unwritten laws and codes of practise in dnb, the main one being respect.

You don't follow that line you ain't going no where. You can't just expect to be sent the biggest dubs because you won a few DMC's

DMCs aint drum n bass. Just the same as a massive highly successful Dj like Tiesto decided to do that, would that be acceptable? No, so why should Craze be allowed to get away with it?

It wasnt his music. In all fairness, if you havent been personally given music to play, you should not be playing it. You know the rules. If you bend the rules for one person you have to bend them for everyone and that aint gonna happen.

Real hip hop aint played on the radio.

Why though?

We have our dnb heads pushing drum n bass in the correct direction.

This isnt commerical dance music. Soon as you get a heap of djs in that arent underground drum and bass Djs and producers, the whole sound will get pushed in directions a lot of us just dont want it to go.

And yes I agree its about pushing the music forward, but let the right people push it forward... the people that know thier s**t and know the score.

she actually plays out quite reguraly co-headlining under some of the top dnb dj's in the world. she's nightwalker's ex. she released my record "forever feat audio angel" under asr recordings. i know she sounds off on the boards alot though...

does anyone on here even know what she's challenging craze for?

sounds like he was playing dirty dubs.

im at 12 pages or so, and she didn't do much but...

take a load of rumours and draw together her own conclusions without anything to back them up so far (unless she somehow turns it all around on a forthcoming page, haha)

somehow it jumps from tunes not being fully licensed on an official CD mix release to Craze plays illegal dubs without permission...

right on, book her to play your party.

as far as in concerned, craze can play whatever he wants. if hes playing your tunes you should be happy that the best dj on the planet is jocking your s**t.

system did a mix cd with craze, and didnt handle the licensing correctly, craze took the heat. she jumped to conclusions and turned it into a playing dubs he didnt have permission to, it was obviously an uneducated statement she made and had no substance to back it up.

bottom line, craze didnt do s**t, but play drum & bass, the old guard made it hard for him after that to get tunes, so he said f**k it, and honestly im bummed because he was one of the few artists that brought something fresh and exciting to the performance of the music, he can rock a party as good as the best of them, period.

Re: Now taking bookings for MISSREPRESENT [UK] stateside!!!

Dirty dubs? that is funny topic though. I highly dought Craze is stealing tunes from the computers of producers while they sleep nor is he online hacking computers!!! lol

(yea I undertand what they really mean @ playing dirty dubs is...

..but @ playing "dirty dubs"... the real blame is with the producer and label... really if there giving there s**t out to people.. they should be able to trust those certain people not to pass it around.. and if they do, then suprise!! they should be extra careful @ who they pass music out too.. for real!!! I know that might be hard to police, but if your that anal @ a few people getting your stuff who shouldn't then here's an idea DON'T GIVE THAT SHIT OUT TO NOBODY. Hell I get dubs, voicings and specials but I don't pass them around without an ok, and as far as specials and voicings that I own.. I will give them to a few people... that is where that trust thing comes in...
..it's easy to point fingers from the top of the mountain... but real leaders would take the blame. then correct the mistakes in the future...

..oh yea ...politics suck too

Re: Now taking bookings for MISSREPRESENT [UK] stateside!!!

Hi... That thread on dnba was pretty much twisted out of context.

My feelings and thoughts on anyone playing tunes they shouldn't are my own and i'm not going to change that.

I agree Craze is a highly talented turntablist - but personally hes not my favourite Dj - so I don't have any love or hate for him. Thats just me. I was just trying to say that if people play stuff they shouldn't and then winge and moan about it afterwards in interviews, how is that fair on the thousands of Djs who play by the rules and don't really complain.

Regarding the whole tune thing, its a pretty sore subject for me here in the UK because I see Djs over here getting called out every week for playing tunes they shouldn't have, and it's a whole topic thats pretty close to my heart.

I'm sorry if I offended anyone with my comments but the way I see it, and the way I will always see it is:

You play by the rules, and the rules apply to everyone.

You start having massive massive names playing tunes they shouldn't and then everyone will just start thinking its ok... and it's not.

Like Jobby said, you can't have one rule for one person and another rule for another, where do you draw the line?

I don't really get my point accross very well on the net... and again another lesson learnt where I should really step away from the keyboard and keep my opinions to myself?

But in a way - why should I?

Why should anyone be battled down and keep thier thoughts to themselves?

What would you rather? Know a little about how people think and feel or know nothing? Rather me stand up there, play records and think what I think - keep it to myself?

If you don't agree with my point of view, whos fault is that?

Am I not allowed an opinion anymore just because I play records?

I'd rather be me, think and say what I like and if it stops me from getting bookings, so be it.....

But i'd ask you to remember that they wern't my tunes, not really anything to do with me in the first place - I only stepped in there to highlight the severe problems that I see with people playing unreleased music they shouldnt have.

I have kicked off to date 13 Djs on our internet radio station for playing unreleased music.

I still see Djs every week getting called out from playing stuff at nights they shouldn't have.......

I probably see and hear a lot more than a lot of people, because I am massively aware of this problem.

So hate me for having an opinion but im only standing up for what I believe in.

Peace.

Re: Now taking bookings for MISSREPRESENT [UK] stateside!!!

I hate to stir the pot but.......

**********
According to missrepresent ...

I agree Craze is a highly talented turntablist - but personally hes not my favourite Dj - so I don't have any love or hate for him.

**********

then what does this mean........

"Craze is great he is my favourite dj I think he is amazing he shouldnt of been shunned, he plays legit music its terrible he feels the dnb scene is bad and I cant wait to see him play NYE in the UK."

That was quoted from you.

And if people are able to think and act the way they want, then why cant anybody just do what they want reguardless of any governing system set in place to chop anyone down for what they dont see eye to eye for?

When its all said and done, giving people s**t reguardless, for doing what they love....... is WEAK. Many people in the world have many beliefs, weather it be religion, morals, etc. People will do what they believe, and when you look at the situatuatuion with blind eyes, then it becomes an issue just because you agree to disagree. People need to start recognizing & relizing that the moment 1 motion is set in place, not everyone will follow, in fact its almost degrading for others to act a certain way just cause they HAVE to.

You view def is your own and for anyone to tell you to think otherwise is just doing the same thing as you but in the other direction.

Stick to your guns, but i would keep the opinions to yourself and live by your own code, just because you dont agree doesnt mean your right or wrong, its your OPINION.

I think ChrisK said it best on here before....

Drum & Bass, its dance music, start acting like it!!

ps

If craze played my tunes on a mix......OHH MAN!!!
I would be honored to have a tune of mine in one of the most defineing artists of our times mix series.
STRAIGHT UP
Thats great promotion!

my 2 cents

Re: Now taking bookings for MISSREPRESENT [UK] stateside!!!

Kelly with all due respect you don't know me, or what I do. You don't obviously know the people I have fallen out with regarding this subject, and you don't realise that people on that thread, disagreeing with me are some people who have played at my nights.

Some are alias's who have been kicked off ASR and think its ok to play whatever they like when they like without paying for it, and troll me around that forum.

Some people on there are people who download mp3s all day long on soul seek, and share them all day long on msn.

The others, just argu for the sake of it.

Yes this is dance music, but while I see people stealing it, abusing it and causing grief to others, it's not fun anymore. People are losing money.

What you're almost saying is, let people do what they want when they want.

So let all the kids play what they like at my nights? Let all the kids play downloaded stolen tunes if they feel like it? Turn a blind eye?

Because right now, as a promoter, as a Dj and as an internet radio station owner, I have a right to monitor and a responsibility to make sure things are done reasonably professionally.

If you don't understand that then I am sorry Kelly.

I love our local djs and our local scene far far more than any Dj Ive never even met, and ive had to lock them off. Its caused me massive massive headaches.

Why should it be any different for anyone else?

Also, why don't you air your fustrations at the people who caused Craze the problem in the first place? It wasn't my tunes, wasn't my label. It wasn't me.

If you care about it that deeply, stop booking the people who caused him the problem?

Oh but the thing is, you won't know.... because you're saying that people should keep thier opinions to themselves... and they won't dare air thier opinions.... people won't even talk about it. You can't have it both ways..

I would much rather be me, stand up for what I believe in, think what I like and listen to people around me who I love and respect.... than listen to anyone I don't know...

And right now I respect the rights of that person to say, hold up I didn't like that, that was my music.

Not anyone who thinks otherwise.

Re: Now taking bookings for MISSREPRESENT [UK] stateside!!!

miss, you have to understand there's haardly dubplate police monitoring tunes out here in the states like in the uk where you get people knocking on your door with a baseball bat for playing the wrong tune (so i heard, i wouldn't know).

Re: Now taking bookings for MISSREPRESENT [UK] stateside!!!

Like I said, im sorry if I offended you...

But look at it this way.

My aim is on auto.

If someone sent a tune, and I thought that tune was wicked, stuck it on a mix, distro'd that mix... played it out everywhere... everyone loved it..

THEN someone hit me up said oi... that was my tune...

I'd apologise. Id say Sorry that tune must of been sent to me by mistake... i'm sorry I played it...

Why? Because its not my music. That music is owned by that artist, and they have the right to distrubute it and do what they like with it, no one else.

You can't ever assume that it's your god given right to play what you like when you like.... it's not your music. Until thats released, and until thats been purchased, you shouldn't play it unless that persons said ok.

Thats not dubplate culture, thats basic respect.

Yes maybe they should of been more grateful he was playing it, but really, until you are in that situation its not your right at all to determine what people should do with thier music or not.

I certainly wouldn't complain about lack of support from the drum and bass scene, I certainly wouldn't moan about it in an interview.

And to be fair, the whole situation wouldn't of even been public if it had been dealt with totally differently.

man ive got a big mouth, ive run my gums at people - ive been abnoxious sometimes, but you know what this scene is very forgiving....

You do something wrong and people forgive and forget, and good!!

Im glad people can make mistakes and move on.... and thats why I said,

I hope people send him tunes again, I hope he plays more drum n bass, and I genuinely mean that.

I have no hate for him what so ever, and the fact that so many people have a good night out when he is playing drum n bass is what matters....

If you think im a bitch for that, I wouldn't wanna play at your party anyway.

If you are a promoter who turns a blind eye to the music thats played at your nights, thats not a place I wanna be at.

Re: Now taking bookings for MISSREPRESENT [UK] stateside!!!

i have to agree with missrepresent on this one. stealing is stealing and that's all there is to it. if you get caught stealing, at least apologize, don't blame the people in interviews for not giving you new tunes.

also i am still bummed that craze gave up jungle. knowing that he gave it up because of politics makes it seem even worse to me.

btw. thanks for coming on and defending your position miss r.

Re: Now taking bookings for MISSREPRESENT [UK] stateside!!!

Im sure if he loved the music enough he would look over all the bulls**t, and continue playing it regardless.

Far as I know he still does. He is booked for a New Years Eve Gig on a dnb line up.

So there is no issue.

You dont need the latest newest freshest huge dubs by all the big boys.

There is loads of decent dnb out there... you just have to dig for it.

If you can't be bothered to dig for it, you shouldn't be bothering to DJ.

Re: Now taking bookings for MISSREPRESENT [UK] stateside!!!

For the record i was not defending or supporting the illegal download aspect of our scene.
Im a producer, and i know how much work goes into making tunes.

I was trying to explain that arguing on a public messageboard is not going to get you anywhere, and that just having your opinion is enough. You dont have to go around trying to change the opinions of some "forum fanny's", cause its just going to go to 12 pages like it did with no conclusion. And at some points she was contridictory to herself because she was getting angry and spouting off.

Miss Represent and I chatted on aim for a bit last night and came to understand eachother alot better for what we both know and respect.

i even gave her some of my tunes to play out

Re: Now taking bookings for MISSREPRESENT [UK] stateside!!!

I had heard of miss-represent before the thread - and had heard nothing negative about her - so I was truly surprised when I saw this thread and there was a backlash against her...

So, I read the entire thread on d&b arena, and I completely understand why people were miffed by her.

When releasing a professional mix CD for sale as Craze did, a licensing fee has to be paid to all the labels of each tune used. It is the responsibility of the company (not the DJ) releasing the CD to secure the necessary licensing agreements, and pay the licensing fees. Apparently - the company that released Craze's CD dropped the ball on this - and released the CD without paying all of the licensing fees.

However, missrepresent went on for 12 pages equating that to Craze is playing illegal dubs that he did not have permission to play (basically Craze is stealing) - without any evidence to back it up. It was a conclusion that she treated as fact throughout the whole thread. This licensing snafu does not (necessarily) mean he did not have permission from the artists to play the tunes. So, if there is some proof of that - I'd like to hear it (none was presented).

Then - she further accused Craze (also with no evidence) of stealing tunes due to the fact that he played Champion Sound and Warhead on Final Scratch - and those tunes weren't yet available for MP3 purchase at the time, and that she just didn't buy the idea that he would have ripped them from his own vinyl. (Completely plausible that he just asked Q Project for an MP3 of Champion Sound - a producer whom he had previously worked on tunes with, etc. etc.).

In principle - I completely agree with missrepresent on the point that people shouldn't steal music - or play tunes without permission. It is the way she executed this argument on the thread that caused so much uproar. Making inflammatory (and often contradictory) statements, trying and condemning Craze without any proof, and making arguments like only a certain group of people should be allowed to decide what is best for drum & bass (and what direction it should be going in)???? WTF????

If somebody booked missrepresent out here in LA - I wouldn't boycott that event, and it wouldn't deter me from going - but the way she conducted herself on that thread certainly left a bad taste. But, more power to her - publicity is publicity, right? And now we are all talking about her. LOL.

Re: Now taking bookings for MISSREPRESENT [UK] stateside!!!

Personally, this is going round in circles, I don't really want to go over the same old ground, so I wish you all the best, if we ever meet I would be happy to continue this discussion in person... im a pretty easy going person.

Maybe one day you will see what I mean, you cant really get a point accross at all on the internet. I did actually put question marks at the end of my sentences, so I would ask you kindly not to assume what I was saying as a statement.

Or you can continue this on my aim : Missrep UK
msn : missrepresentuk@hotmail.com

You can also feel free to call me, on 07816 228323

Also. If anyone should have a problem with my opinion, it would be Craze. I would ask you all to leave it there, he doesnt need you fighting his corner - he is big enough to fight his own battles and if he had a problem with any of the information presented, I'm sure he would set that straight.

I will be in Denver on the 21st November 2008, at Club Cosmos and Nevada 14th / 15th.

If anyone would like to get in touch with booking please contact the above.

I wish you all the best for the future.

Re: Now taking bookings for MISSREPRESENT [UK] stateside!!!

well said miss.

damn... and i thought we were pretty vicious on the floridadnb board, lol.

being from Craze's home turf, we here have the utmost respect for the man and his talent, but not everybody is into what he does.

opinions are like assholes... everyone has the right to express theirs, even if you think it's s**tty.

that being said, it's the opinion of many in the UK and abroad that Missepresent is fire on the decks. so book her and find out for yourself...

much thanks for bumpin the living HELL out of my thread! propahz!!!
