the "Isolationist" LP from Alaska & Paradox - a masterpiece
I can barely express how good this is...

From what I hear, Paradox was tired of the crowded and hectic nature of his surroundings in the UK. He felt like his musical vision was being compromised. So he moved out to Russia near Lithuania, in basically the middle of nowhere, to concentrate on his music. This LP is the result of that and it's really amazing music. You can feel the cold, icy isolated vibes and pure soul throughout the album. The production is top notch. Dev makes the fattest and funkiest breaks out there, and the atmospheres and sounds are so full and crisp, it's very easy to get lost in it.
Not only this, but the clear transparent vinyl is absolutely beautiful. My personal favourites right now are Mauja and Jericho, but the whole package is stellar... I need to get the CD for about 3 or 4 tracks that aren't on the vinyl too....
Thank jah for Paradox, the baddest producer out there in my opinion. Never selling out like so many others, just continuing to make some of the funkiest, chillest, and baddest tracks ever. True junglist! And damn, seeing him live in San Francisco this May was incredible, just like icing on the cake

hopefully we will see him again in Los Angeles in the future!

Re: the
Yes! Big ups Greg for bringing this up. An amazing LP indeed. I feel it has a little something for everyone. Pure quality, but Jerico is the one for me.
And hell yeah, Paradox in SF was last May was BAAADNESS!!! Probably the best performance I've seen from him since his first appearance in LA. |

Damn it, I see he's using a tracker too. If I ever do drumfunk I'm gonna have to learn how to use those beasts :-(
That being said Isolationist is an excellent album. Gonna play it right now actually :-) |
