*Just because u don't like something doesn't mean that ur not open minded. I personally (no offense to u) really get annoyed when people say this statement. We ALL CAN NOT LIKE EVERYTHING. I don't like R&B because in this day in age by the 2nd line of the song many of the R&B songs i hear, the guy has the girl already in bed or the guy has cheated on the girl and wants her back, or vica versa. To me where is the Rythm and Blues in that. I personally appreciate old R&B because they're sound was unique as R&B, whereas now the same R&B song sounds xactly like the new NELLY which soundz the same as the new BRITNEY SPEARS (all produced by like the Neptunes). I could elaborate on, but won't, but i KNOW WHY i don't like R&B so in actuallity i think it makes me open minded to the fact, but open minded so much so that i can form an opinion on why i don't like it! To me MARY J. is good as is Alicia Keys, but that's it. I personally don't see R&B as a "sex tool" and it doesn't have to always be about sex (and b/c mostly it is, that makes it a close minded musical form right now in my eyes). Itz like talk about something else please instead of Genuine just shaking his ass and studio enhanced voices that make people sound perfect, but in concert they're too busy trying to do the 'harlem shake' instead of singing or too busy getting the new apparel instead of writing lyrics that mean something . . . .. bleh |

I dont like today's RNB. But I do love the neo-soul (jill scott, remy shand, india arie etc. etc.) and classic soul (al green, isley brothers, james brown etc. etc.) and classic RNB like Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Jackie Wilson etc. etc....
