best dnb LP of the year
ok, well its november, so its kind of pre-emptive, but i figure that since the pressing plants are taking a break that its a fair assumption that nothing extra-spectaular groundbreaking is going to come out in the next month and a half.
what's your favorite album of 2002? |

Hold that thought man cuz Bad Company is about to release 'Shot Down on Safari' on the 18th and that for sure will be a sic CD! As far as whats been released already, hmmm?
Dom and Roland - Back for the Future
This is a great CD! Can't Punish Me and Parasite are bigtime classics!
High Contrast - True Colors
This one was not my style but interesting indeed.
Roni Size - Touching Down
I have not heard this one yet but I want to.
Aphrodite released Aftershock but I haven't checked it out either.
Pieter K supposedly just dropped something badass. Anyone got anything to say about it?
Many posts popped up while I was typing.

the shot down on safari promo mixed cds are out .. its a decent album but overly hyped.
also, the roni size touching down "album" is not an LP. it is a collection of the last 5 full cycle singles. |

the pieter k LP is garbage.
his sound is very tinny, its not full at all, and his drum programming is scattered all over the place. it sounds like all of his breaks were sampled from mp3's or something. |

ACCIDENTAL HEROES - 'THE STARS OUR DESTINATION'
DIGITAL - 'DUBZILLA'
Didn't Grooverider have a big release on Columbia or some s**t?
I have been wanting to buy all of these but have had no cash. Anyone got any of them I can burn?

i think the forthcoming jmajik album is going to be scrapped in favor of a whole bunch of singles .. due to licensing issues.
i mean, they released 24 hours already on one sided single .. i think that was one of the major hooks behind relasing an LP. |

I agree from an LP standpoint nothing really stands out to me.
Shot down Safari is a highly anticipated LP and will probably be the best dnb LP of the year.
Personally, I like the Spy Technologies LP; however it hasn't been released and I don't know if it will be released before the end of the year. Does anyone know?
The others Accidental Heroes, Big bad bass, and the Peshay EP were all ok, but not definite stand outs to me.

jungle albums are by and large crappy since dance music is predominantly a singles driven genre. i've never listened to a whole jungle album by one artist that i truly enjoyed all the way through (although matrix-sleepwalk almost did it for me).
that being said, i enjoy peiter k's vibe and experimentation, but i would not even say the whole album is fresh.

Haven't bought it, but I plan on it:
Can You Draw Sound? LP on Architecture
Probably the most diverse and the one I'd most likely play every plate of.
I haven't listened to enough of Pieter K's album, but if it's anything like the sampler, then it's brilliant. Under the Radar (remix)/Trefusis Point would probably be my favorite 12" this year. Both sides are really good. His songs don't exactly "fit" with most stuff out there, but he makes great music. I'm excited that I can finally use "Somna" in a mix that will finally do it some justice, hehe. |

Soulful Behavior series by Defunked. Pure soulful goodness with top not production. NOS is a stand out with "Free Us"-deep tone and smooth drums. "So Liquid" by Carlito is another good soulful ride-nothing outstanding but it's solid production keen on it's soulful root without compromising on the dancefloor energy. |
