What ruins the vibe for you?

I notice a lot of people comment on too many rewinds. MC's faking the funk, using british accents, or just annoying MC's who won't shut up.

I was speaking with someone today who said the Q-Topia sucks because

a) they have no bar

b) it's all ages

I don't know about you people but that doesn't even register in my brain as something that would effect my good time. Ok, many people would rather there was a bar. But I'm not going to let that bother me to the point where it effects my night. What about the little kiddies? Does that bother anyone else? I don't really have a problem with it. I could care less how old the person next to me is, assuming they're not all f**ked up on drugs.

Things that can f**k up my night-

Too many MC's or s**tty MC's

Accessive rewinds

lazers pointed right in my eye

hot, stuffy rooms & raver-funk

bad sound

I got one.. it aint big but it matters. BATHROOMS... I was impressed how Qtopia never had a line and there were paper towels and soap all night .. heheh

I think that spot was dope... kinda like the roughneck House of Blues.

Is that what that place does regularly? Parties?

Sound system could have been a bit better

but all in all I give it a 9 just based on what I am used to

What really kills the vibe for me is when the sound system s**tty. Another thing that kills it for me is when there are way too many MCs on stage on they don't know when to shut the f**k up.

i'm with u on the mc's and rewinds. marky rewound every f**king song almost. his set wasn't wat i was expecting. it wasn't bad, but come onnnnn. don't rewind 4 tracks in a row. and i did not enjoy the mc's that nite. this is not a f**king rap concert. i want to hear the records. not mc's. especially s**tty ones who strut around the stage like jiggy rap stars and u can't even understand anything they say and their voices make u want to bludgeon them with their microphones. okay, this topic is old, but some mc's need to know when to shut the f**k up.

oops i made bassrush sound bad. i had lots of fun there though. jus way too many rewinds, and mc's who don't know when to shut up. but wat else is new.

the sausage/bird ratio being way outta wack... which is the case with most every jungle event. bad sound kills the vibe for me as well.

2) predictable track selection

3) repetitive sets which burn otherwise good tunes

4) poor security leading to dangerous situations

5) thieves, tweekers, taggers stalkers/predators

6) poor ventilation / room temperature

7) MCs/DJs who ride their reputation

audience lacking soul

9) people who are afraid to be the first one grooving on the dancefloor

10) unclean restrooms/facilities

Sucky dj's that shouldnt be on stage, like I mean, really sucky. Take time to get somewhat good before your friend gets you on the decks. I don't really like hearing continuous train wreck after wreck at such loud sound. (i rarely see this happen though)
Same goes for MC's...sucky sucky sucky Mc's who can't flow should get decent first before you take away the mic from another mc at a big party.(but it's been a while since i've heard a really bad mc)

1. Too many rewinds!!! When I am dancin and groovin and I keep having to stop just when I get really into it cauze they rewind the track... Fucking Kills It for Me! Where are the MC's at, listen to this, too many rewinds kills the vibe!!!!
2. Too much mc-ing. I came to listen to the dj's as well, so let the records breathe, and add a little spice to them, don't overpower the records. Anytime there is more than one MC on stage, this is very likely to happen.
3. Bad sound. There have been so many times the highs overpower the s**t and I feel like my ears are going to bleed. A nicely balanced loud system is great (but not so loud I feel my head is going to pop like a grape, and I won't be able to hear for the next three days!)
4. No bathrooms, or disgusting bathrooms, I don't mind waitng in a short line as long as the bathrooms are decent.

It is very easy to have a great time at a party as long as these factors aren't at play.

ps~ I have a great time at almost every party I go to.

cheesy lights and lasers. i was blinded at qtopia. keep it classy like respect

SOUND thats the biggest by far. if the sound is s**t it affects every other element of the party

too many mc's on a stage trying to out-do each other. if your gunna have a few mc's, make sure they work well with each other. for example, the DUB w/ Filthy Dirty Rich and the Green Gorrilla mc's. those guys always work together so they just vibed off of each other and it didnt take away from the music. nothing worse or more pathetic then watching random mc's try to squeeze in and grab the mic. uggg there is a certain mc, who shall remain nameless, that does this regularly. ill give you a hint, his name rymes w/ s**tz..

PROPER FANS AND VENTALATION. nothing worse then sweating like a f**king man and just being drained of all your energy to move let alone dance.

proper permits and all that other legal s**t is ESSENTIAL. f**king sucks when everyone is going off and having the best time and BAMM lights on, hello mr. fire marshall.

I hate amateur MCs...can't we set some kind of minimal talent barrier?

and I hate hearing Dillinja tracks...

I don't mind rewinds...but the choons better be MASSIVE i.e. some VIP I won't be able to buy for 3 years...

and I hate f**king not having enough room or ventilation...

and please dance...if you dance I will dance and then we are all dancing yay!!!

you all covered just about everything...but i gotta few more personal peeves:

--stinky venues: how can u expect me to groove hen it smells like funk?

--stinky people: im 5ft tall...my nose is practically at the armpit level of the average man...please deodorize~heh

--moshers: not everyone likes to be shoved around so viciously...

--mean security: the ones who are just strait up power-trippin...it's a nuisance, cmon...we're all there to have a good time~

this stuff is annoying, but i wouldn't say it kills the vibe for me...i dont let it~~as long as the beats are dope, then im all good...

2. dj's that seem incapable of playing anything but the latest 2 step dnb garbage and neglect everything else.
3. paying to hear s**t i disslike.
4. fake f**ks in camo who wouldn't know a good tune if it smacked em upside the head.
5. heat. i don't like to sweat. turn on the f**kin ac.
6. mc's who go on and on. shut the f**k up already i don't give 2 s**ts what ya have to say.
7. too much lighting. i don't wanna have to look at the ugly f**ks i'm bumping into.
8. kids on drugs. especially if they don't give some to me.
9. over priced weak drinks. i'm poor and i wanna get faded, don't be stingy with that s**t punk.
10. dirty bathrooms.
11. people who make the bathrooms dirty. do you piss on the floor at home?
12. horrible parking, or lack of parking. i'm lazy and i don't wanna have to walk forever to get to the venue.
13. rewinds. 1 or 2 well placed in a set ok., every other tune no.

mc?...or really any mc calling for a rewind unless it's one the dj's own original dubplates. if the dj's wanna rewind the track, they should do it themselves

Though they were 2 completely different parties, the Dieselboy show in SD (and i am not the biggest Dsl fan) was ff the hinges. Y? The sound was proper when he got on, the crowd was xtremely enthusiastic to be there, the drinks were flowing, every DJ dropp'd different tunes. Only 1 rewind by each DJ and everyone call'd by the crowd, people just brockin' out and not giving a fukk!!! The hype factor surrounding Dsl was as much as surrounding Bassrush, but on an overall that show delivered b/c of the tunez play'd and the audience! What kills the vibe for me is when thes 2 things don't come together.

I agree with Chris. The tunes and the audience. Yea, I'm impartial when it comes to the MC debate. There are some that I like and dislike. However, when the tunes are Fresh and Banging then I'm capable of ignoring even a wack MC. The s**t that bugz me the most is an MC calling for a rewind of a tune that's been canned to death.

Okay okay.. I'm an asshole for raining on their parade. it DID look like they were having fun with eachother. but it made me cringe.. (and I wasn't the only one who looked at them and said "what the f**k?"

WOULD YOU TAP DANCE AT A DRUM&BASS SHOW ???!! dont think so.

it would have been 5% better if they were doing some "salsa-ish" moves ALONE but they were swinging eachother all around and s**t. it was lame. I didn't tell them to stop. I never said "hey dance THIS way" I thought it was wack and I STILL SAY its wack. that's my personal opinion. if you see me dancing at a show.. then come tell me how dumb I* look. See how much I'll care.

oh that reminds me. one thing that REALLY kills my vibe at parties is that one dude i'm afraid of with bulgy veins. i saw him at bassrush, and he tried to get my attention but i ignored him, then he tapped my shoulder and i still ignored him and i started walking away and his hand was still on my shoulder. i almost started running. dude get the f**king point already. whenever i see him, i hide from him. it sucks to have to hide from ppl when ur trying to have fun.
