I must say R.A.W. has alot of talent and is one of the most interesting DJ's I've ever watched.... however, after seeing him 2 weeks in a row, his style and sound is very predictable.

I only say anything because it's hard to name a few djs when there are so many good ones out right now, especially ones that come on this board a lot. So if someone's not mentioned, I'd just feel bad for them is all... not feel bad but I Dunno-- just my thoughts on the matter... no biggie for sure. Didn't mean to rag on yer post...

I just moved out here a little while ago from New York City, so I don't expect anyone to really know me.

But I agree with you... from what I've seen, socal has alot of DJ's around here.. it seems only a few names stick out at the big parties though. people like RAW, Deacon, and Machete.

One thing I've noticed out here which I didnt' see in New York, is that there alot more different styles of drum n' bass being played by the local DJ's. You have guys here spinning tech-step, dark-step, garage, jazzy, rollers, ragga, hardcore, etc. In new york, everyone tries to stay along the same tech-step styles with a little bit of UK influence. Out here, I'm seeing much more diversity in the styles of music being played..

Yes its definitely on the rise.. this is the main reason I left NYC and moved out here.. There is alot of good talent and production work coming out of California and I hope it continues at this pace.... I guess all the great weather makes for good creative sources

hey there's nothing wrong with having a preference no disrespect to anyone else, but here's my favorite locals...

phear (jeff always rocks s**t and i've always been able to identify and enjoy his selection)
infiltrata (john can just tear s**t down)
raw (variety and skills, aw baby. even if i don't always dig his selection.)

most of the locals are pretty good overall though.

are all holding it down, very consistent, nothing fancy, but thats what i like. Maybe a lil something here and there, but they dont try and make it look like a talent competition, they make it so u can enjoy the music. This list is not in order of who is best, jus who came to mind first.

Seems to me a lot of heads here are pickin friends instead of who is really holding it down which i think is kinda a waiste of time, do a shout or something for ur friends, but show respect here to the heads u know deserve it. Some heads on here have boosted egos for no real reason having to do with their ability on the tables.

Oh and some heads i didnt mention cause i havent really seen a whole set of theirs, even tho im sure they get down.

i have a soft spot for my friends when they're out...
