BTW, we will have a special area where breaking and popping videos will be sold.

AND..there will be a special area with a camera set up for ANYBODY that dances...at the end of the month, we will compile all that footage, and with the dancer's permission (should you be used in the video), we will release the video in stores and to the general public to promote dancers that don't have funds to expose themselves or don't have any real conneks to get exposed... each dancer will get his or her own free copy.

POOL TABLES ARE FREE..AND THERE IS A BAR FOR 21 AND UP, and PLUSH COUCHES...for those who just want to chill out and enjoy the looney tunes.

Sorry, id rather go to recon where i can see the same heads for free. Im all for bringing up the scene, but i dont see why bringing in another club on a night when two of our strongest weeklies are thriving. The better clubs in LA have takin things like that (which night they choose) into account. That being said, this whole club seems like a venture more involved with trying to make a quick buck, then in trying to push up the scene. The guy who is starting this club was infact at one point on John's bill on a weekly running the breakers area. And then lets John know that he is running a club against him by promoting for his club at recon.

I hope people from this board do a justice to the scene and continue to go to the two spots in LA and OC that have been bringing you some of the best DJ's in the World for FREE, rather then try and support a club that is trying to obviously go for recon's crowd.

Now im not god and I cant tell anyone what to do, but, realize, going to this club at this point in time in our scene would contribute to bringing down recon and or substance. The venue they have is pretty damn big, and even with both recon's and substance's crowd, the place is gonna look kinda empty. Maybe if your a breaker this will be cool cause you got the room now, but i dont see to many heads in the scene that like to see lots of room by the stage.

This is just my two cents. You never know, if there are enough heads into dnb all over the LA area that can support three clubs on a tuesday night, then thats just all the better for the scene I guess. But we will see in due time. Im not trying to be a hater on urban rythm, thats not my point in this post. I am just a supporter of recon and substance.

All i gotta ask is, WHY DOES THERE NEED TO BE A JUNGLE SCENE COMMISSION in order to throw events! I mean if u wanna throw events then should be able to. I like Recon i like substance and to me this is just another option. If u want to go then good if not then fine. If ur a vetern promoter or club then u should be fine, trust me i think the "regular" Substance people will still go to Substance and the "regular" Recon people will support Recon, this again is just another option! I'm all for people puttin' in werk and paying their "dues" (to whom i dunno), but if u have done all of this (like Substance and Recon) then u shouldn't be worried cause u have ur core audience in tact. If anything this spot will attract new headz into the music, IMO. Plus they have hip hop which Substance and Recon don't offer . . . my 2cents worth 1

mcxyz, I think its a great idea to have multiple clubs in OC and show support for the drum n' bass scene.

the only problem is there aren't too many people in OC who are into jungle like in LA. we have a smaller core group of people here. Most people go to established clubs like Recon which have been running strong every week. it might be a little more difficult for a new club to gain a large audience, but if its 18+ I think that would help alot.

Well then I say if RECON has the credibility (which i believe it does) then the headz that roll there will stay true to it and won't stop going. Then this new place will fail and stop (not that i want that, but itz the nature of business). It would be like another dnb club trying to open down the street from RESPECT, soon it will learn, but the point is LET THEM LEARN ON THEIR OWN. I think that people who wanna try and do things should be afforded to do so!!! U never know what good ideas can be sparked. I don't live in OC, but i meet a few headz from there who are not 21+. It is unfair to them that just because we feel (or sum people) that there shouldn't be 2 clubs in OC they should miss out. Arte we trying to keep the core audience of this music and expand or not? In my mind i think RECON will do just fine. Again i say let folks (whoever) try and do new stuff cause u don't know what might come of it. I'd rather these people try and fail then to be scared to try because sum people feel OC can't handle it . . . . aga in my 2cents. Remember this scene isn't about the promoters, DJs, MCs, producers etc. itz about the audience/fans/jungle massive which all of us are/were before a lot of us got these titles (ie. MC, DJ, Producer, Promoter). And in all honesty from the cats i talk to in this position they just wanna hear sum dnb LOUD, that's it so this gives them yet another option!

Well i hope you dont think im trying to be big brother chris. My concern is that things from this club have looked a lil shadey. And since it looks to me that money is the priority over the scene, if this club isnt run right, it could leave a bad taste in hip hop heads mouths that go to that club and wander into the other room. If dnb is the main room, and hip hop heads show up and see the dnb room empty with an ehh soundsystem. THat could push away potential junglists rather then bring em. Dont mistake my unhappiness with discontent. I beleive that recon and substance should be able to hold their own. I agree with you in that in the end our scene will decide which club will stay and which one wont. I would be promoting this club if they decided to hold it on a sunday, monday, or wednesday. But they are creating competition in a fragile market. I dont mind competition, but there isnt really a need to compete in the scene right now. There should be room for everyone. But this crew is instigating possible problems. Im just sharing my opinion, im not telling anyone what they have to do. Thats not big brother, thats free speech.

like you guys said the core audiences will remain at the clubs they support. i just dont think it is a wise move to start another Tuesday night. Thats alot of risk, but the 18+ thing might draw a few more heads. Alls i'm sayin is there are plenty of other nights in the week that are wide open. Understandably they might not have had a choice on the nights to run the club (ie. the venue gave them Tuesday's). I hope and wish there are enough people to support all these clubs.

HI..I'm at work right now actually working (lol) but I just couldn't help myself from slappin a word or 2 down right quick..

The jungle scene may not be very large, but the DANCE scene is. Dancing is worldwide. Alot of dancers i know would dance to anything.

Living the life of an artist ..any kind of artist..is HARD. Every dollar of this will go right to the prize jar money for up and coming comps. Which means the money goes right back to the dancers. That is how it works.

Bryan never promoted for our club at Recon. If he did with out me knowing, which i highly doubt, then I would call him out on it. I have no problem being honest.

Please don't come into our thread with promotions for RECON. I didn't go into John's posts and promote URBAN RHYTHM! Actually..*light bulb flickering on* Go ahead, nevermind, promote Recon in our thread. I'd love to help you guys out as well and let all the other 21 n over cats know that they have another place to go to around the way. I'll even promote Recon at our club. No Joke! Much love. I would like ALL 3 of our clubs to thrive, not just ONE.

Yes the venue is big. Because in order to dance the way we dance that kind of thing is a requirement.
Or else someone will get kicked in the head. lol.

We put our hearts into this. This past Sunday we were just up on Venice Beach with the tables, performing on the concrete floor with the music promoting all day in the hot sun for more dancers to hit our spot up. I feel like I just helped build the Hyatt.

The idea behind our gig could just very well be simple naive dreams of a childlike spirit, but these thoughts do revolve around our hearts. This is mostly for the dancers and that's real.

I'd be happy if we had just one dope night anyways. This is just an experiment. At the same time letting all other types of people in on the action, "and feeling satisfaction from the street crowd reaction."

Hey Jungle Scene peeps and everyone out there,

I would like to apologize for any inconvenience this is causing. Just to let ya'll know, we are still kicking off Tuesday July 30th and the week there after. Meanwhile, I am working on finding another venue to move Urban Rhythm to Monday nights. That would be as winter fresh as Tuesdays...I will cross my fingers and see what I can do to help the situation, and with Brian's (Image) agreement with what I or anyone else helpin us out at the present moment can find, Mondays it is. Word is Bond.

All of you that ask me how I learned...i learned from going to parties at a young age, seeing it in high school, and just being around it. This is how you learn for real. This isn't necessarily a dnb weekly, it an event for dancers. Granted, they've deceided to put a jungle room in the club but that's because (and on this we all can agree) dnb is GOOD music. Some of you have sought out this thread, followed the promotion from another thread (where you've already done a good job of putting down it's image and tainting all the posts) to here to put it down some more. The scene may not need competition, but it doesn't need that kind of negativity either. So many people have repped it so hard for RECON, but where is 'John' to disapprove for his own club? From what I understand Bryan has had affilations with Recon, and didn't begin this project behind anyones back, not to mention for all you complaining: Pandy and the others throwing this event have HEARD YOUR COMPLAINTS AND ARE TRYING TO WORK OUT A SOLUTION!!!!!!!!!!! So what the f**k...are you all just bitter people looking for places and reasons to complain? Your voices have been heard and she is trying to compromise.

And another thing...I go to Substance and don't like it: it's too small and crowded. I can't go to Recon because I'm 18. So what am I supposed to do on Tuesdays, sit around and masterbate while someone deceides to make Recon 18+ again? How do I know thats happening anytime soon?

I've been into dnb for a long time, in fact thats what I learned to pop to. Why does it make you all so angry there's gonna be a club geared towards dancers (finally!), just because it's a Tuesday? Then don't come. Sometimes I feel strange at jungle partys becuase they're not really for poppers and breakers. I'm excited about having a place that is, and perhaps it'll draw in dancers that have never heard jungle before, but like it, just like me.

Personally (I'm not speaking for Pandy, Bryan, or anyone throwing Urban Rythm) even if and when they do change it to another night I hope I don't run into you negative buttheads there.

O.K here it is i have been a promoter for over 8 year and done such events as club carnival@(allaxandria hotel)on 5&spring in downtown from 96 to 98 and we did 2000 people every sat.Why did we do so good because we did mass promo hitting every scene with are flyers try to convert people to are scene and we did we made are own scene.And thats what im trying to do here is to create my own following......And for your own info not that i need to explain my self but i never promoted at recon..dont need recons crowd dont want recons crowd..and the places i promo thay have never heard of recon so sorry the world does not revole around recon.becuase if you ever visted our scene the breaker/popper and freestyle dance scene you would see we all ready have are own crowd. And for your info the dnb dance scene is bigger than you think.i know because i have been busting at allmost every dnb party since98.So what it comes down to is can me and ALLot of dancers who like danceing to dnb.So can we PLEASE... play dnb with out you kids crying like we just took your favorite toy.i feel like im in high school again.So isaid it ones and ill say it again If you go to recon stay there!!!!!! im all for this event on teusday night...i agree with several people when they say that substance is too small not too great of a sound system and recon is 21+...so what do us 18+ crowd do? i live in oc and there isnt much to do down here...im up in la 2-3 times a week...not that i mind going up there....on flyer it says there is a guest list....can i get on that...name is GILBERT MIRANDA

I had already planned on keeping my lips shut because I had talked to Marie and straightened things out, but u got to jsm me asking why am I talking s**t instead of jus recognizing the fact there is going to be negative opinions about your club. But you got to come at me for sharing my opinion, talk some s**t on the thread, so here are a couple more opinions.

You say that you didn’t go to recon with flyers, but someone in your own crew told me you did, even if you didn’t hand them to anyone outside or put them on cars, I know a couple flyers circulated, and that’s a couple too many. Tell me you did not have flyers with you showing up to recon one night.

Do you really believe that John is cool with this? He put you on his flyers every week promoting you and your dance crew, had you run his breaker area. You even won the 100$ once. 90% of the Dj’s who spin there don’t get 100$ cause they just love to support. He puts a lot of his time and a lot of his money into getting Recon to where it is now. I personally don’t know any other clubs with weekly flyers, there probably is, but I don’t see them. That in itself is an effort I have respect for. Of all the promoters in the scene he probably has the most respect from me, and that’s why I defended him earlier.

I know that you asked him to join you. YOU asked JOHN to join your venture, what a laugh. Why would he want to take his club to a venue that he already thought was a waist (which to me that already says something). If you were a part of recon, the respectable thing to do would have been to pass on the club offer on Tuesday night, and look for a venue on another night. But that would take work. The only reason you took this opportunity was because it was handed to you. With no thought of how it would reflect on the scene or towards your peers who respected and trusted you, and that includes John. Just because he didn’t talk s**t to you when you asked him about it, does not mean he wasn’t disappointed in you. He has class, which is another reason I have respect for him.

You heard nothing else from me when I heard there was being made an attempt to move the event to another night. I heard that respectfully from Marie in a kind manner. I understand how you can be defensive about your event since it is your event. But don’t try and talk to me like I don’t know what is going on. I don’t talk if I don’t know what is going on. I mostly joke around on this bored but when I’m serious I don’t half ass my opinion. You might not like what I say but don’t bring me up, I am not the only one that feels this way, I am just one of the few who care enough to say something. Even if I was in the minority this is still how I feel.

I am not 21 either, and I feel the complaints that doll parts had about substance, but I like substance in that it gives dnb heads in LA a venue to hear a different side of dnb that isn’t really played to often in LA. But even though your event would give me some place to go, I feel that the scene itself is more important then jus what I get to do for fun. The ones under 21 that go might pull some heads with them that go to these other venues, and when that happens you have 3 venues that cant afford out of towners instead of two that can.

I value the scene more so then my own entertainment, that’s how I feel, the very success of dnb in LA is what makes me happy. The fact that it is slowly budding and becoming one of the strongest scenes in the country makes me happy. But it is still fragile. The people in it now are strong and know what is going on. But the issue is bringing heads into the scene. And although you might introduce more heads to dnb, if u show the dancers from hip hop that they are in the smaller room compared to a room with strange music they have never heard and what looks like 10 people in the room, they are going to think lowly of dnb. I want the scene to grow. But that only happens when people have positive experiences with dnb.

I can understand under 21 heads going there, and to you guys, go, have a good time enjoy yourselves. I jus don’t want to see the crowds dropping at either substance or recon to support your attempt. Don’t try and pass me some bulls**t about how your trying to help anyone other then yourself, because actions speak louder then words. And your actions don’t speak anything for the scene; your club looks like someone that’s jus trying to come up. Its obvious you’re not really thinking about this s**t, cause your throwing on your hommies info without even thinking. So why should I assume that you haven’t been as careless with every other detail.

I don’t know you, I have never met you, but I am sure we have crossed paths. I don’t hate you; I just don’t like what is going on. But that’s on me, that’s my problem, my opinion. Well here I am.Im not into all the BS drama on the site its a promotion tool. But if your gona call me out on this, thinking I can't or wont speak on my own behalf that is a funny. I have other s**t to handle while on a fukin computer than reading and posting to all the crap people talk on here.

In my opinion there was never an offer cuz Brian knows that I run my own s**t!!! Not to be an ass about it, but i run my s**t the way I want and I don't need a patner w/ more than 2cents in the mix.

Runing a Tuesday night event in a 800 copasity venue is overkill. The reason I decided to run Recon in a 200 copasity venue is bassed on these 2 facts.

1st in this type of venue a strong vibe can be created. Any one who has been to Recon can vouch for this. W/ the likes of RAW, Deacon, & Machete on the decks the place was bangin!!! Mass movement and feeling in the place. I love that s**t!! It inspiers me to bring in more heads!!!

2nd Its f**kin Tuesday, night how many people do really think there are that go out on Tuesdays??? If I was in a large ass spot and pulled 200 heads the place would seem empty! And any one who has been in the scene "for 8 years" probably would have seen this sanario before.

**note to all the "kids" in the scene, as i see Bri refers to you as. I tryed running Recon 18+ last year in December. I cut it off because the fact was that the 18+ heads that came through during the 3 week trial disrespected the venue and in fact made themselves look untrustable. We had taging, underage drinking, and one hell of a chick fight!!! Sorry my current venue owner is only allowing me to run 18+ on August 13th for my 1 year Aniv. But if all goes well and everone acts respectable the plan is to run Recon 18+ once a month on the special event nights**

The main reason why I didn't want to partner w/ Brian is cuz the honest first few words out of his mouth when asked me to bring Recon to the MVP was "ya man we can both make loot" f**k that!!!

Yes at Recon I have started charging a $3 covere charge as of 2 months ago. This money is turned right back into the club. Im sure that the Recon heads can vouch for the fact that talent has been been geting biger and biger as the weeks progress. With that in mind I offer you this:

If you can run that type of s**t on Tuesday nights I give you madd props! Cuz that in my own opinion is one hell of a f**kin lineup for a 1 year old OC DnB club. All around under $10!!!! Anyone who knows me, knows why I put all of myself into Recon.

And honestly it is a matter of disrespect in my humbel opinion. That someone (I didnt really know before he started coming to my club) who I supported w/ free promotins (for his self started dance crew) on all my flyers for the past 2 or 3 months would just shrug his shoulders when a mutual friend asked him "what about Recon". Thats what upset me. Not the fact there's another f**king DnB club on Tuesday night. That I'm honestly not even goin to sweat about. It's more the matter of building a friendship and association w/ a person, and having that person turn and pull the relation away. Thats honestly what upsets me in this whole matter.


I ask anyone who supports me or Recon to stop all the BS post on this or any other thread concering Urban Rythum. It's a waste of energy for everone who is envolved.

O.k. first off i just wanted to start off by saying how did i become the anti-christ of dnb like im killing the whole scene.I just wanted a place were me and my freinds can go dance make are videos and help support others dancers like me and pandora and all the other dancers who give there hearts and soul to dancing.Besides there are alot of dope ass dancers out there like the break dancers,poppers and freestyle,who like dnb who love it as much ass anyone else.But hate being packed into small ass venues like cattle it sucks.And thats way they only go to big events like edc,audio,how sweet it is,monster massive,glow get it.Thats why recon only gets 1 or 2 b-boys there at one time.Because its to damn small.allright for pratice but not to good for busting. Ive seen so many people get kicked by the breakers drop there drink than glass breaks people get mad.And all i wanted to do was dance.

O.K. sorry got kicked.So wene it comes down to it well all see tommorow and if i just have my guest list show up who are some of the sickes dancers in s cali...... ill be happy because thats how i want to party with about 50-100 dope ass breakers,poppers,and freestyle dancers.and with that many dancers you need the room.and with that much talent in one place.the people will follow.thats way i use resadent djs and entertainment.becauase my friends just want to listen to good dnb and dance.
