Is Ray Keith really THAT bad?
I've been getting the slight implication that people really hate this guys production. So, if he certifiably stinks, I want to know why that is.

DJ vs. Producing requires completly different skills........
Many producers get slammed due to there DJ skills.........
however it has nothing to do with the quality of production....... |

honestly his production hasn't been that great lately either, which is too bad because he used to be one of my favorites. His Djing tends to suck, but I've seen him kill it before too so if there theres one thing we can say is he lacks consistancy. |

i like a lot of his stuff, you can tell some of it is just 10 minute studio workouts that sounded clean enough to release, but he has some really classic tunes. never heard him dj though… |

but sample based meaning all of his tunes sound like looped samples....i dont think he spends anytime tweaking anything out...he has been in the business for ages so of course he gets sorted with top samples and just does quick tracks with them....this was made extremely obvious thanks to that jah dread ep (although i f**king loved jah dread) |

^^^^Its accurate in a sense....but every producer finds a nitch and somehow gets labled w/some type title or sub genre his is "Amen"....
his classic choons however....very innovative during that time...... |

I own his tunes but I don't usually play them. him and cap j. seem to suffer from the same syndrome... they make short loops that sound good and repeat them the whole way through the record. basiclly making them boring loops or battle tools...
I'd hate to say it but Ray Keith sux!!! |
