Re: Soo....
you just want tunes that are good? or easy to spin?
Any decent record shop should have a "best of" wall, go there n listen all you can.
If you're looking for easy tunes to spin, I'd start off w/ something that starts off with a really solid drum line |

Re: Soo....
either that or get some house music to practice with... alot of DnB isnt the easiest to learn DJin with... the snares and kicks are all over the place and makes it harder to match up if you are new to it. |

Re: Soo....
Uhh dunno about that. I spun house for 5 yrs and I still think it's harder to mix than D&B. D&B just comes easier to me than house I guess. Anyway, just experiment, find the sounds you like. It's all part of the learning process. |

Re: Soo....
yeah, i found dnb to be the easiest out of all the genres to mix. the hardest would be minimal techno. in my opinion of course
drummer boy, if you can mix you can mix. don't waste your money on tracks that are easy to mix, just set aside ~$250 (you're trying to dj remember, be dedicated) and drop ALL that s**t on the sickest tunes you've ever heard. don't bother planning a set because it will suck. don't try to do some super mixes because it will suck. buy tracks you like, and play with them until you know what you're doing it comes naturally. i made the mistake of getting records that were 'easy' to mix. but in reality these records were 'easy' to give away because they were lame after a week or two. |

Re: Soo....
Practice on steppers at first.Steppers are usually predictable and thats why you will hear alot of people spinning it.They are an easy first step.
Get a hold of some good mixes and listen to what their doing. Its good reference.Just practice alot, the more you practice the better you will be.Critique your skillz constantly. |

Re: Soo....
go ahead and throw your tomatoes, but having spun for only 6 months or so, and having access to pretty much any kind of music, I learned very quickly with straight forward 4/4 house. DnB would be easy to learn if you already had a serious ear for music (were a musician, studied music concept in theory etc), but if your starting from skratch 4/4 is the way to go. I have taught a couple people with records that have the first beat cued with adhesive dots..... VERY Straighforward techneque.... |

Re: Soo....
i used to spin, and the one thing i can tell you is this....dont ever ever ever ever ever ever ever buy the same s**t everbody else plays....thats just boring and wrong if you like dark then go super dark and find all the s**t no one else is going for. there a dozens of other dj's that play the same s**t as every one else. and NEVER buy a FUCKING FILLER record....i f**king hate when dj's play FILLER songs. there a lots of great songs out there just dig. they dont have to be anthems just know whats out there.
here is a fav.....fade to black...what a good f**king song.
as far as something easy to mix....full cycle a lot of the times starts with just drums |

Re: Soo....
You know what I've always said? If you wanna spin dnb, learn with dnb. If you like house, learn with house. Are you getting into dj'ing because that's what YOU wanna do, or are you getting into it for other reasons? If It's just for your own satisfaction, learn to dj with the genre of music you enjoy.
I learned how to beatmatch with dnb and the longer I play dnb the easier it is to mix other genres. Do what do you dig. Once you get dnb down, everything else will eventually fall into place. Also once you become more aware of phrasing it'll be easier to mix. Always remember your 4's.............4, 8, 16, 32.=) |

Re: Soo....
actually dmt, what raun says is this...f**k spinning, put your money into getting a nice pc, buy a sequencing prog(logic, cubase, etc), and uh some vsti's and uh a good controller, a good sound card, a book on subtractive synthesis, a book on piano chords, and uh lock yourself in a room for 4 years then release one great anthem after the next. yes. |
