Over Dillinja?
Am I the only one that thinks Dillinja is a modern day Aphrodite? Ever since the Bambaata remix really, All of his songs have seamed to be recycled beats, breaks, and basslines. I am not saying his songs suck, they are all dancefloor smashers, but I have half a crate of him alone, and they all sound the same since the Bambaata Remix.
I am I alone? Will I get killed for this comment? |

Re: Over Dillinja?
indeed steppastyle i agree with you. all his tracks lately been soundin the same. i dont even care for his beats anymore actually. theyre getting cheasier and cheasier with no originality. he needs to switch it up. |

Re: Over Dillinja?
i feel the same way. he's an excellent producer tho.. his s**t is always geared for the dancefloor and the party always livens up during a dillinja tune.. but i'd love him to go back to the days when he used more sounds than present day.. hearing basslines that just skip around octaves and drumz that are all too familiar just gets to me sometimes.. but you still gotta love the guy lol |

Re: Over Dillinja?
i understand completely. he's another producer that can't mix and all of his new stuff sounds virtually the same. and the samples?? give me a f**king break.... what was it "DJ CUTTING UP THE DANCE FLOOR" or something wack like that. it sounded like it was straight out of a hard house track or something.
i was hella diappointed when i saw him in DC. sure people went nuts for him and his tracks have crazy bass and like steppastyle said they're "dancefloor smashers" but he's not a performer in the least and his creative ability has gone to s**t. i definitly won't get excited over being able to see him again. |

Re: Over Dillinja?
i thought i was the only one that felt that way...the basslines are tuff but after an hour of his way way repetitive drumz its just too wack for me....and i totally agree he is like the modern day dite.. |

Re: Over Dillinja?
I like his older stuff. Everything else he has been putting out lately is lame. Angels Fell is a good song.
You know what is the worst. That new song of his grimey. It's so repetitive, listening makes me sick to my stomach. I could have made better in 5 mins on my home computer. |

Re: Over Dillinja?
i agree about grimey...it's hard to believe that eveyone is going nuts over it.
giving dillinja his props, he is a sick producer. but he dows need to do something fresh. honestly, the only tracks i own are old things, and some capone things. it seems like when he does capone tracks, they tend to be a bit different. and he definitely needs to stop recording his voice/breathing over his tracks. wtf is up with that?
dillinja is a legend, recognized. but lets push the envelope again. like someone said, he has all the equipment, connects and talent in the world to make something new besides another few thousand pounds. |

Re: Over Dillinja?
give the guy some slack, or stop buying his plates. easy as that.
when y'all have hundreds of tracks under your belt, and they all sell big regardless of how good they are, i'm sure its pretty easy to fall into a routine, and pretty tough to be always reinventing yourself.
i haven't bought one of his plates in a while, but he is still one of my favorite producers.

Re: Over Dillinja?
Damn you guys are harsh,
One thing i picked up is the USA
seems to have a different style of
dnb, seems more breaks oriented,
well the couple tracks i picked up from san fran were.
Personally i would'nt write off Dillinga
or the UK dnb scene, or else there would'nt be a scene at all.
Only other comment would be to be carefull cutting people down, it does'nt help small scenes when they become too self-referential and don't support those that are succesfull.
If you don't like what Dillinga is putting out, make a better tune,
he'll probably play it. |

Re: Over Dillinja?
Nobody hear is dissing on the UK scene as a whole, or even discussing the similarities of UK vs. US.
I am just saying vinyl storage space is at a premium, and I am not going to buy another Dillinja tune till I hear some new soundz. |
