ya until XYZabc and gaydreday killed C4C set !!!!!!!!!!! Don’t get me wrong BassRush was sick the sound was banging bass was booming but dam xyz and gaydre really spoiled the night for me I only went to bassrush to see C4C and was really excited to see them play until XYZ & Dre (wack L.A Duo) just f**king killed it !! I know for a fact that mark and stew (c4c) were really pissed off. I just wanted to go up there and unplug the mics but then I would have got kicked out. All I want to know will there EVER be REAL DnB parties without MCs I mean last time I checked it was Drum N Bass not DnB and this here wack MC.. I don’t think every mc is wack look @ Conrad that fool can mc. i think out of all the mcs in the world 8% of them are good the rest (xyz & Dre) are FUCKING WACK. I just feel like I got robbed last night for $25 cuzz I came to hear DnB and all I got was wack mc killing it. So if any one that was there feels what I am saying... don’t be skerrd to speak.... pleez im not tripping when C4C got on stage it was packed then after the 3rd f**k up that xyz caused the dance floor started to clear out so Maby C4C was not mad but i know deep down they were . See what you dont know is that i am friends with Mark from C4C and i know the sccop. ALL i know is the the scene needs to get back to the basics "NO MCs NO REWINDS" oh ya and of course C4C will look happy on the dvd cuzz you might have a good editor to make it look like they were happy .

xyz im not sure if you noticed it but some fat f**king ugly ass grizzly, she had on a golf style cap white i think red and blackish floral shirt on, plugs in her ears, and i think she had a banada under the hat. she was the one throwing s**t up on stage, and help start the mosh pit. that bitch is ugly and no right to throw what she threw up on stage, she looked at me and saw my drum n bass 110% shirt on and she smiled but i gave her ugly ass a dirty look... i was standing 3-4 people back and off to the side of her and saw everything...

Reference London - the birthplace of raves - late 1980's. Acid house events in one-off locations were always hosted by an MC.

Circa 91 - acid house becomes dark breakbeat hardcore or "rave" music. groups like prodigy, 808 state, altern8, two bad mice, etc.. all headline massive events and festivals - ALL had MC's

or how about london pirate radio in say around 93 - mc's ruled the airwaves hollering out to junglists all over

same time - in north america - mc's host jungle rooms and events in Toronto, New York, Chicago

the MC has ALWAYS been the itneractive element of the jungle party. They are the bridge between the dj and the crowd.

Ive been in it for nearly 9 years now and the MC's at the first jungle parties that I went to had been doing for years by that time.


You dont even deserve this little history lesson. Big f**kin deal if you started going to raves in 93 - obviously you didnt come off the drugs and PAY ATTENTION to what was really going on for many many years later.

i agree with u man. i mean u go to ure average weekly or small jungle event and u see xyz or dre there, no biggie. but then u go to a jungle massive show and u see xyz and dre there,and ure like fuk that.. i came to see goldie.marky.bailey.etc. not the same local mc's that just giber giber the same s**t. i can even bring homies to shows anymore cuz its the same mc's everytime!.

Ok... My 2 cents on the whole MC thing.... I personally dont like MCs.... No disrespect to you all, I think you are most talented, I just prefer my music without someone busting on top of it. I think I have the right to feel that way... Its like flavors of ice cream. You like one flavor, and I like another. Im not knocking your choice in the slightest, and I hope mine is just as respected.

That being said, as far as MCs being there since the inception of jungle, I dont doubt it... BUT, in the early 90s (90,91,92) there were barely any in our scene ( our scene being LA and s**t). I think the first time I heard an MC busting over RAW was in like 96 or 97. Not saying he didnt pair up with MCs before that, just saying I never saw it. I think it was funcrusher that said the MC is the link between the dj and the audience, or something to that effect, But I think the link is the music... Nothing less, nothing more.

Again, just so I catch minimal s**t from this, I AM NOT SAYING MCS SUCK.... I am merely saying that I prefer sets without them

I'm gonna have to agree. MC is Master of Ceremonies, or MOTIVATE THE CROWD. Not f**k up the music by spittin jobber on the mike.

The sould purpose of an MC is to motivate the crowd. I agree with homeboy, we need to talk to these MC's and let them know how we feel.

not saying we do not like them, just saying to plan out when they spit....if noone tells them, they will always think peeps are diggin it.

I don't know about you guys, but usually I can still hear the tune when the mc's are toastin over it. I didn't mind any of the mc's last night. They kept the crowd rowdy in the quiet parts, and then when the tune kicked in, if I wanted to just listen to the tune, it was no problem for me to just pay attention to the music. Sometimes I even enjoyed what the mc's were saying or how they were flowin over the tune, so I payed attention to the mc at that point. Just because an mc is present doesn't mean that the mc is only thing that you can pay attention to. It shouldn't ruin your night or break your mind anyway.

yo, if you dont like mc's then when you see tha lineup and you see MC's.............DONT GO! It's great to hear most of you enjoyed the event. I think that the music being good is a given but it's the crowd that really makes an event over the top. LA Heads! You all let loose and made the event go off. I'm proud to live here in LA You all make our crew want to make the event better and better. We know there will be some ups and downs and always someone unhappy but we will continue to strive and work to meet your standards. You all went off last night and made the event.

MC's or no MC's you should all smile .. dance .. applaud at an event like this. As a Dj I prefer not to play with MC's because that is my steez and I agree with many of you that the jibber jabber is a lil much at times but it takes a whole hell of a lot more to make me not enjoy an event like last night.

Drum and Bass is DANCE music .. it is ment to make you jump up and sweat to the beat not sit there and analize, critique and talk s**t. Have fun damnit like you did back in 1974 or whatever the f**k.

If you don't like MC's cool more power to you and your musical taste .. keep in mind that promoters WANT to throw parties that YOU enjoy. They want to know your opinions because what you WANT is their bread and butter .. it is their business .. so be professional and respect that. sup peeps, well even if kanxus comes out really mean and all, s**t, lets just analyze what he's saying, i think that he has a good point, nothing against any mc's but i think that when a good dj is in town, the mc's should just be spectators, i mean dre is good a small la gig, sometimes xyz too, but yeah i have to agree with my man who wrote the thread, the mc's should not be there when there is a good dj, i saw hype on line when he was spinning at a party, and when he saw that the mc was killing he's s**t, he stopped the music and told the mc to go smoke a cigarette (or stfu in other words) , and i agree, c4c was sick, sound started sounding like s**t when they came in, and the mc's were not making the sound any better, goldie too, they wanted 2 rewinds on one song, wtf, common, lol, that ridiculous,
so with no disrespect to what we have in the la scene, even thou it doesnt seem like we have much,(we have some cute ladies) but our mc's do a good job, at small la parties, but when we bring bomb dj's from other places and we wanna hear them, i love hearing new stuff personally, refering to new tunes from sick dj's, not the same mc's voices, but i guess there is nothing we can do about it, only thing is just to tell the promoters to let the djs do their s**t by themselves, to hear their stuff better, WHAT A GOOD IDEA

i'm not against hearing xyz and dre at a rave. but i hear them so much & am so familiar with them, i'd rather hear an mc (or two) at the end of a night that i'm not so familiar with. honestly, i don't think any LA mc should be mc'ing that last set of the night. unless it's someone nobody hears anymore like mc me because come the end of the night most people are tired and ready for some fresh s**t. not what they hear all the time

I def agree that most mcs kill the vibe for me but I def wont come crazy with it like that.If you dont like it,throw a party yourself and ban microphones from the building.Give it time ,someone will do it.Most mcs plain out f**king suck,not just local ones but all over the f**king world.C4C knows this.If they didnt want an MC they would have just said something about it.If they were really that mad they should have just unplugged the mic.
