well...yeah...but the only solid reason that I can think of as to why he should not run for governor (a mayor like Clint Eastwood or congressman like Sonny Bono, would be okay...cuz ... there's a lot less chance of realy screwing up) is that he hasn't any experience in politics, business or law. Politically speaking, what does he have to recommend him other than the fact that he's married to a Kennedy niece? Umm, muscles...money... and not much else. |

The logic of his campaign::: that because CA experienced troubles while being run by experienced politicians, we should turn over the state government to inexperienced politicians to fix it::: makes no sense.
The current governor and any of the other major candidates (Bustamante, McClintock) all deserve to be governor more than Arnold. |

Re: well it was a nice campain and all...
Personally, Im voting for arnold, and I think alot (ok, the majority) of people on here talking s**t about him have no f**king clue of what you are talking about. He doesnt have any political experience??? Maybe not in a practical sense, but he married into THE political family. And he has been in this family for many years. He has been primed for this since he married maria. I can promise you that every year when all the Kennedys get together for the hollidays, political talk is dominant.
As for him knowing nothing about business, how the hell do you figure? He was a multi millionaire before he even set foot on american soil, and it wasnt "inherrited" money either.. He is an incredibly shrewed businessman, and I personally think that he could change california economy for the better. He is quite honestly one of the most intelligent people running in this election.
And no.... Im not a republican, or even that much of an Arnie fan.... Im a democrat(by birth, not choice), and the way I see things is... Republicans f**k up everything they touch.... Democrats f**k up everything they touch.... Neither party really is all that good on its own, and all the other parties(green, independant, etc.), are usually one end of the spectrum or the other..... Either bleeding heart, save the environment pussies, or they are the Militia, get your guns, and close the borders, and if you dont like it, Ill shoot you types.... I think a melding of Republican and Democrat (such as Arnold has) is the only way we are gonna get s**t done... Plus, did any of you think about how much can be done with JUST the backing of the Kennedys??? I think we will be better off with Arnold in office |

i don't like his plan on taking money from the indian casinos, nor do i like his plan to deny illegal immigrants driver's liscences. he may be inexperienced and such, but he's not going into this on his own, he's getting help from pete wilson, among others. who's to say he's not just carrying out their plans? he's simply a vessel presentable to the public that attracts mass appeal, thereby giving republicans a good chance of getting in office, then imposing their own policies via inexperienced arnold? |

ok A. dave pls, do some reading on what is entailed in the position of governor and look where it says THEY DON'T GOT MUCH OF A PULL!
there are only 3 reqs. to run/serve as governor and i'll give u some hints: mula.....age......and a couple of yrs. w/u.s.citizenship! not a lot of screening, and not a lot of restrictions
B. regardless of who wins this campaign, it ain't onna mean s**t cos there is no WAY nebody will be able to put a dent in ca.'s debt and it won't matter how passionate about w/e they promise to do---cos it won't do s**t!
C. davis is crap....and so what arnold did a little hankypanky at 1 pt. in his life, but he IS still a human being! it's a trend maybe....one set by CLINTON, OUR LAST PRESIDENT! hahaa lol
D. if there is one issue i got major issues with, it's this whole equal opp. for illegal immigrants! give me a break! so what about all those ppl that go about citizenship the real and LEGAL way? those ppl work for and deserve it, not these ppl........and refer back to A. thru C.

wow, most of you people are really jaded and not very smart.
currently = politicians including the governer do not make their own decisions. They are 95% influenced by lobbyists.
Arnold = has his own money. He is only going to do what is right, not what he is payed to do by a lobbyist.
there is nothing else that even matters. This is the first time that we even have a chance for things to change for the better.
*someone said Davis or anyone else deserves it. FOR WHAT REASON? cause you want illegal immagrants to have a licsense, or you want to pay 300% higher DMV fines this year? WTF are you people thinking?*

Re: well it was a nice campain and all...
alright. on the driver licenses for illegals issues:
they drive anyway. regardless of a license or not. what this does is actually accounts for i think they said somewhere in the millions of people who would otherwise be faceless in the system. drivers license means insurance. means accountability in the unfortunate event in an accident. hey if you would rather be hit by some undocumented faceless person and be forced to cover your own costs through your own insurance by all means. im conflicted about this one, but i think in this case the positives outweigh the negatives.
i don't think davis has been the best governer no. however, i don't support a republican coup that they started less than 100 days after he won the election and was elected by a MAJORITY of california voters. they couldn't win the election fair and square, and so they're trying to steal the governors office, much like they did the presidency.
i do not support this recall, and i definately don't support putting a tool like arnold in office. in a perfect world, camejo sounds like the optimal candidate. however realistically, if the recall suceeds its going to be a drive between bustamonte and schwatzaf**khead. i know my vote will not go to an actor afraid of debates. |

Arnold is far from a tool. He is the only candidate in history to use his own money. Doesnt sound like he is getting backed that hard. Are you guys ignoring that this man has single handedly built a construction empire that is the true root of all his fortune? Re: well it was a nice campain and all...
again, i am conflicted on that issue. regardless of whether or not that was put into law, illegal immigrants are going to be driving. bad thing? yes. but this will document at least 2 million people here. granted its not the perfect solution, but IMHO the benefits will out weigh the risk.
regarding arnold, i don't think i ever called him dumb. but he is a tool. i will stand by that. he has refused any debate with exception to the one where he was provided the script beforehand. he still hasn't come out with many of his policies, and one of his great advisors is the wonderful pete wilson. now if you like what pete wilson did for california, please by all means vote for arnold. i do not have faith that he nor his advisors will really do anything substancial for california, except make us a further joke in the face of the rest of the nation.
its not him being an actor that jades me. its the fact that ALL of his top rivals have been debating eachother the entire capaign trail, yet arnold is too busy doing scripted talk shows. if he can't speak of issues that are facing california on the spot, what makes you think he'll be any good for leading our state?
again this is a republican power grab. they're seizing the opportunity by throwing a great media persona at it. wonderful strategy, ill give em that. either way it comes down to this.
do you want the puppet on the right, or do you want the puppet on the left? no real change is going to come from this election except the loss of 60 million dollars of our tax dollars. i seriously would love to see this cost passed on to issa, or at least for issa to get a public flogging if the recall effort fails.
good day ladies and gentleman.

Re: well it was a nice campain and all...
I'm not excatly sure how you can say that Arnold is one of the smartest business men to grace the political game show. All these politicians are busines men with money. Cheney, Bush, and every other politician. How do you think they get in office? Sadly to say, in this country money means power, and I don't agree that that is a good thing. It seems that when these business men get in office, all they try to do is make them and their friends richer. They don't believe in helping out the common man or woman. ANd why would they if they have no idea what the poor man struggle is like. I for one think Arnold is the worst candidate to vote for. I mean he can't even debate without knowing the questions beforehand. I don't think we should vote anyone in office who doesn't even have the simple skill of critical thinking. It will be a sad day in history if he is voted in office.

I don't like bustamante... I will quote the other katie (katiek) on this and use her great example.
****************************
He's been using illegal campaign funding during this recall race. Using funding that was supposed to be for Prop 54 for his own personal campaign and illegal donations from Indian Tribes and Unions.
http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/recall/la-me-cruz24sep24,1,1671958.story

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/news/archive/2003/10/01/state1507EDT0079.DTL
he's already abusing his power and misusing funds he has no business being Gov. imo. He also said he would stand by Davis and support the No on the recall vote, then after seeing the dollars available decided to run against him and support YES on the recall. He's the epitomy of greddy politician. I'm voting NO on the recall. i will not let the republicans win at this power control game. And I am voting for Camejo, he's the best of the bunch.
******************************
Camejo is a great runner, I agree with her there. Bustamante I don't like at all and McClinktok is pretty cool. He'll be just as much of a joke as Arnold though. No matter what this place is screwed already so all we can do is hope that who becomes governor will actually start doing something.
The only thing that woke Davis up is this damn recall --- who knows maybe this was the thing to do for him, maybe now he'll actually take advantage of his power and help out Cal. haha. I don't know. Whatever happens lets hope s**t starts getting cleaned up.
I agree with a lot of what Arnold says about business and various other subjects, I don't think he will be worse than Davis. If he gets voted on will the world end, no. Will it completely be fixed the day he's elected governor? no. These are all things we have yet to see... there are so many assumptions about how HORRIBLE of a job he'll do without seeing any sort of action at all.
You are right to assume he will do bad, but what about assuming he's in it for the right reasons as well. I DO understand that all politicians are shady, but maybe that's one other good thing about him... he's not really involved in that aspect.
Plus I've heard a couple of you bringing up Pete Wilson. He is NOT Pete wilson... even he stated that during the debate.
It's not all about the person himself as governor, but also the people they have around them -- spoken by Arnold himself... I bring this up because of the *thinking on a whim* comments. I think he'll do okay if he's elected.
I don't like Bustamante and I hope he doesn't win. Huffington dropped I believe, and so did McClintok?? This is what I heard anyway... |

we're chillin on THEIR land. tribes were here before there was a government to take their money. rape and pillage them a little more.
Do you people even realize that half these "indian casinos" are either partnered with, or sponsored by Las Vegas casinos? That means tax free money in their coffers.. Las Vegas casinos are against california indian gaming. look at the legislation they tried to pass 2 years ago.
The money does get circulated back in to the economy. 25 years ago you and the other 9-5 working stiffs wouldnt have come within a 100 feet of their reservations. Something like 90% of Native Americans living on reservations receive government funding. Its not like its their homeland ... back in the day some white old rich prodestants from washington dc kicked them off of their desireable property and dumped them in to reservations with little land value. The morongo valley isnt exactly a nice place to start foraging for food in. With indian gaming, they're suppourting themselves. They're pumping money back in to the local economy, goods and services have to be exchanged for a casino to operate. Indian casinos pay licensing fees.
Just be happy you got a nice tax writeoff. |

Presidential Requirements
The Constitution requires that a candidate for the presidency must be a "natural-born" citizen of the United States, at least 35 years of age, and a resident of the United States for at least 14 years.
Natural-Born
An understanding of the nation is essential for the role of President. The framers of the Constitution strongly believed that a person must be born in the United States in order to fully understand the country.

Re: well it was a nice campain and all...
f**k you all complaining about
"illigal" immigrants!
They are human beings!
They have every right to do
what it take to survive
who do you think feeds your ass?!?!
funny, haven't seen any of you stooped over picking produce
in the hot sun - for s**t pay
no health care, no regulations
f**king americans can't live with out them...but the undocumented immigrant, can barley live!
america exploits them, but wants to keep them down as 2nd-class people...completely terriorfied and
forced to live in the shadows
They constently have to be looking over thier shoulder...looking out for police who f**k wtih them or la migra hunting for them...they have to deal with bigotry and racism
Cold hearted reactionaries scream about social services, pourous borders...
Always coming out with new legislation meant to strip a whole section of the population of ANY
rights or services, including medical and even the right to work!
They are not animals mf's!
This country (and the people in it), are so hypocritical it's sickening...
The US economy DEPENDS on Mexico to sustain itself...without the superexploitation of Mexican laber both here and there (foregn-owned "maqiladoras" - factories)
the US economy would collapes
US wealth is based on super exploitation of foreign workers, and natural resources...Mexico has been a Corner Stone of that ever since the US stoled this half of Mexico (Southwest US) |

Re: well it was a nice campain and all...
okay that's fine-- if there wasn't a way to become legal I would completely agree with your statement.
there are a lot more illegals here than we all think, point is they should become legal american citizens.. no one's saying they don't want them here, they're just saying they want them here legally.
Instead of issuing them driver's licensces they do something about how slow process of legalization is.
this is a hard topic, I'm back and fourth... I'd rather be hit by an insured illegal than a non-insured legal that's for sure... it's a hard one.

Re: well it was a nice campain and all...
Garanteed illegals do not feed my ass or even make my life more than what it is or ever will be.Illegals dont help the economy, they actually make it worse. All the money they make they only spend 60% of it here, the rest of it goes to Mexico. They do low paying jobs, but the jobs they hold should be held by middle school and high schools kids. Why should they have the jobs rather than our own fellow citizen who was born here.
They might save companys alot of money, but the only people that see that money are the wealthy.Dems talk about the rich people having more money and they are so bad because of it.Yet they let them have more by depressing wages of working sections in the economy.
Next thing you know my tax money goes to helping some family that isnt supposed to be here in the first place.Licenses for illegals, what a joke. Now you can get rewarded for breaking the law.Now it sends a clear message that misdemener laws dont mean s**t anymore.
Keep fighting for illegals,Im sure they wont fight for you. |

Re: well it was a nice campain and all...
and another thing:
Arnold is a right-wing, reactionary, mysogisnit, pig!
He IS a Willing tool for the Republican party...he fronts as
a moderate republican, while behind the scenes, they plot to implement thier Christian-facist agenda...how ? why?
Well, why is it that White House campaign statagists are working on the Arnold campaign?
California is a huge state for electing presidents...
They need to steer CA to the right to have a better chance to win it
to re-elect Bush...
eecue is right, this s**t does effect our scene:
what is represnted here by the arnold campaign our the same forces behind the Stolen pres election, The cynical exploitation of the events of 9/11 to unleash a war on the world, and implement thier reactionary agenda which includes implementing biblical law....
It is no accident that it is this administration that going after the dance scene under the pretext of
"war on drugs" and "protecting the children"
NO MORE DANCING folks - John Aschroft thinks dancing is a sin!
Him and Bush and the rest of thier croonies, are nothing more then the Taliban wraped in red white and blue...

Typical democratic propaganda.
Everything has to be a Bush driven agenda.Maybe people are just sick of bad leadership and honestly Ill take anything beside Davis or Bustamecha. Why is it that Clinton came down here for Davis??
People are just supporting their partys. |

ummmm yeah how many middle school kids want to pick strawberries all day long? any way please realize that republicans talk s**t about illegals(to mobilize the middle american voter) but they create loopholes for them to come here to work(for peanuts) for their rich buddies. people are really misinformed about the illegal immigrant situation and often are pointing the finger at the wrong person.

Re: well it was a nice campain and all...
oh yeah,
WHY IS IT ACCEPTABLE FOR A POLITICIAN RUNNING FOR ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT POSITIONS IN THE COUNTRY TO SPEW OUT ANTI-WOMEN SHIT!
Twice - including in a debate! - he has talked about the JOY he got from being able to dump a womens head into a toilet (like he did in T3).
This guy has been groping women all his life - he has no respect, and in fact has complete contempt for our sisters who make up more then half the population on this earth...
"women hold up half the sky"
Oh, so now people want to complain that these women who raised these acusations waited so long to voice them!
yeah? the answer is in what they said about why the didn't speak out before: fear of retrapution; fear of being puplicly humiliated.
and check out the hypocricy of the republicans now who STILL can't stop screeching about Clinton and his affairs and loose ways (he's a pig too)..but now they get al upset if these alligations about thier Boy get raised.... |

I completely agree with you here... don't you think they should do something to help them become legal faster/easier instead of forcing them to break laws though (be illegals)?
Even if they get a license will it have a big ass stamp on it that says illegal immigrant? that would be horrible! I wouldn't want that on my drivers license!
