But no - voting does not give us any power..

Well, I made a conscious decision not to vote. Got some deep rooted issues about that, but I agree with Joey's comments.
Even the most well intentioned politicians (and do they really exist?) cannot satisfy the people's needs because it's really not in their hands or power to do this. You might agree with a candidate on most issues but once elected, later in the game, you come to hear about some corrupt activities they're involved in.
I might give examples and be more specific, and I might know a little about alot of stuff, but politics is one I choose to stay away from.
I don't think it means I'm not concerned about some of the issues or propositions or that I'm ignorant, I like to think I'm not because I'm still a productive citizen who pays my taxes (ouch!) and follows MOST of the laws of the land. |
