hahahaha. i'm telling you someone should bring 'em back 90210 style. where you can only get a map to the location if you bring an egg or say a secret code word or something. |

Re: how do people feel about map points?
Yeah like with Summer Dreams, the map point was on Melrose and the party was in the canyon behind my house, only took me 10 minutes to get home but two hours to get to the map point then to the bus station where we waited for the bus. |

Re: how do people feel about map points?
map points are only necessary if the event is being held at a secluded, hard to get to spot like the mountains or desert (or warehaus with bust potential)... it makes it feel less club-esque, imo.
i'd be pretty sore if we got a map and it ended up taking us to booty ass florentine gardens or something. |

Re: how do people feel about map points?
map points are a fun part of our culture if done correctly. But distance has to be a factor, and over all convienence needs to improve slightly. |

Re: how do people feel about map points?
Yeah a map point to another map point is just wrong. I use to love map points back in the day. It was always a fun adventure. I mean sometimes it would suck because the venue was far from the map point and there would be some back trackin but it was cool to make the best of it anyhow. I always met tons of people at map points, made friends and seen new faces. I think map points are great, as long as its a super cool location and stuff. |

Re: how do people feel about map points?
I don't really need an adventure, if I do, I know how to create that for myself.
As I recall from the late 80s and early 90s, the point (hehe) of map points was when parties were held in warehouses (usually that someone broke into and had no authorization to use, with hi-jacked power, etc.). And there was ALWAYS a password or you had to show your ticket. But I recall driving to Melrose to some store to buy a ticket. Then a long drive to someplace like East LA and some poor kid standing all alone on a street corner with maps. And then a long drive to someplace like Canoga Park to get to the party. AND THEN, the parties usually got busted about an hour after I got there anyway. Soooooooo, I'm not feeling it. |

Re: how do people feel about map points?
I went to Camp Freedom this past weekend (good friends with the Freedom Force Five and 26c crews), and I must say they did the map point proper. Since they didn't want any cops bothering the private camp ground for the 18+ hours the party went for... they had the map point at the bottom of the canyon (held at the same place as Summer Dreams `02) at some record store. I forget the name of it but it was on Chatsworth and Laurel Canyon I think...
So basically it was an effectively used mappoint, something I definitly find beneficial all around. Now I do disagree with how they handled the Summer Dreams situation.. and I also find that mappoints can be truly annoying if they really aren't needed...
