Re: Jungle Family Tree

I listened to all sampples in the whole thing and read the stuff, i know more info on the dance music in general, even though i hear this whole thingy isn't 100% accurate. What genres do you guys like from the thing?

I like house and trance best. I don't like most techno and hardcore. I don't like most breakbeat except for the hip hop stuff. The jungle genre has a lot of good stuff and I also like some ambient stuff. What genres are best in the jungle thing?

This is great...........but where did Ragga come from? hahaha

on another note.......if u guys wanna hear a total crap song(actually i wouldn't call it a song)....

go to hardcore
go to speedcore
click on sample 5
ricardo - only dj noisekick will survive

how can anybody listen to speedcore? that doesn't qualify as music i think. I can recommend two great samples from this site....

for the first one go to downtempo, ambient techno, sample 4, orbital - halycon+on+on, it's a great song I heard from the movie Mortal Kombat.

for the 2nd one go to downtempo, downbeat, sample 3, sneaker pimps - six underground, it's a great song i heard from the movie Cruel Intentions

I also recommend solar stone - seven cities, it's under trance in the ibiza section

what are some of your fav songs from this site?

Don't be fooled...

It's all the same thing (jungle vs. drum & bass vs. jump up vs. hardstep vs. hip-hop vs. ragga vs. funk vs. soul vs. jazz vs. etc. etc.)

Someone asked did jungle evolve from hip-hop? (which is the basic principle of question even tho you could break it down to did drum & bass evolve from jungle or did hardstep evolve from jump up, etc.)

The answer to this question is actually based on your musical perspective. There really is no "right" answer. Even if there was a "right" answer, who would be the judge to make the final call between both opinions (which is either a yes or no answer)???

I have been in many debates about this and even went further to debate: NOT that jungle evolved from hip-hop or any other form of music but that they are actually all the same thing and that the seperation of music style and scene is the real illusion. Again, you may think not but it still comes down to your opinion or perspective on this subject. The way i look at it is: Music is Music. You can break each different sound of music into a more complex category but in the end: it's all the same thing. You can even break it down even further and categorize each piece of music as "good or bad" but then again, who is the judge to determine? Once you're able to appreciate all forms of music as an equal: then you will be free from it's limited boundaries.

PEACE,
HS

Re: Jungle Family Tree

for a reference as far as sub-genre titles it's ok, but the placement of tracks is somewhat debatable.

the "hardcore" section is fairly inaccurate, but you look at any comprehensive electronic music site and they botch the hardcore info, because most people aren't hardcore fans.

as far as breakcore coming from jungle or hardcore, kinda hard to say, as it was more or less formed when hardcore producers (alec empire, ec8or from DHR, christoph fringeli from praxis, miro from white breaks, nasenbluten on bloody fist, etc., did you guys know panacea started as a hardcore producer, too?) started doing their versions of breakbeat tracks.
