Do you think DNB is wierder now or was wierder back then?

Im just sittin here listening to some older stuff (boymerang, photek, trace) and i almost wanna say dnb was better back then...

ahhh yea sounded like thats what i meant but it wasnt... its ahhh its just different now... i mean yea pendulum, shy fx and all the other people in the spot light but it seems like nothing really has been inovated within the past 5 years besides the reece... i mean like to the boymerang break who the hell has made a break like that lately...
now and days it just seems like its a kick, snare, hihat, and a jiggle. not like someone actually engineered a break... i mean it doesnt take that long to make a sound... hell concord dawn said it takes anywhere from 4 days to (rarely) a month. i dunno it just seems like the dnb yesterday is harder to make than the dnb today...

i'm just going to add this so i don't sound like a complete asshole:

people have been saying that ever since i got into this s**t, bout five years ago. really, i've come to learn, at any given point in time in dnb, something cool is going on. people come with great ideas on all sides of the genre.

the one thing i've loved about dnb, if most people seem to be coming out with s**t on one side, move to something else. cause you know what, you're still probably going to go out and buy the same s**t records you're bitching about.

dig deeper. stop bitching. there's always something else.

I acutally have to agree with the fruit at this time. I really DIG the old jungle, but I"m talking like, 92-95 stuff. dark and dirty and the beats were not overly sampled then.

I do have love for the new ish coming out, but there is just something that the new stuff can't capture like the old breaks can.

i play / collect / enjoy the older stuff more than the newer, but i could never say nothing innovative is coming out now. just happens to be less of my flavor.

i agree with hemo - dig, there is tons of dope s**t out there - been made and being made right now.

but i do like ragga, so is my opinion still valid?

I play old and new stuff together all the time. Both styles are good. It depends on the vibe one is going for.

honestly old school jugle was way more simple. it was all about the drums and the wicked bass.beats and rythms isnt that what this music is?? i mean most new s**t is either just really out of control in a cheezy annoying reppetivite way or just mind blowing in a good way if they stick to the basics's

Dont worry about apple.Ive seen him hating on posts here and there.He isnt s**t and his tracks suck as much balls as his mouth does.

As far as drum n bass goes.Its always gonna be the same.There are alot of tracks that are innovative,there are also tracks that have been made before.I think the sounds are getting cleaner and more defined than ever.I love the new drum n bass as much as I once loved the old drum n bass.

i don't like to hate on anyone but i'm really tired of hearing recycled samples in d&b. people need to learn to program or better yet play their own beats and stop using "acid"(a music program for the non geeks) or loop based programs exclusively for making tracks. get some musicianship behind you learn some theory and then maybe you can create some truly original music. i've been playing bass for 20 years and writing music for almost as long and it's frustrating for me to talk to so many people who call themselves "producer" and couldn't even tell me what notes are in a c major scale. i think the future of d&b is limitless so long as the people making it don't limit themselves to what others that gone before them have done. then again maybe i'm a grandpa a don't know s**t either but i'z ok with that too.

Old Skool Jungle was the s**t, just since I had never heard anything like it when I got into it in 1992. The new stuff all sounds almost the same, w/ a "trancey 2-step pattern." The last good stuff was in 1997 IMO.
