everyone lets hold hands and say a prayer...



I remember Morgan mentioning someone ,actually, playing some Christian dnb for her...but, I was too high to remember how she described it awhile ago. But, the idea is sorta mind-boggling, but funny to me.

Does it actually exist? like only within the Christian circles? We've seen rap/hip hop, alternative, punk, and what not being incorporated God into the music. But, what about dnb?

And, if it actually exists, you think it would go further than just being in the religious circles?

I mean, in no way, I am trying to impose any religious views on here. But, can you imagine saying a prayer before the first dj starts his set?

or having the mc flow about kicking it with god over some amens?

I can imagine it now...and it's a funny picture to see...

what are everyones' thoughts?

I say a prayer before every show, and on everystage I work on, asking the lord to bless the night and the stage.

actually this topic has come up in my thoughts as well.

I think DnB could be a powerful music for any religion. I guess it would all depend on the samples and such.

There are alot of "alternative" youth groups out there, and I'm sure there has to be some DnB heads experimenting with that.

If DnB were to ever incorporate GOD into it...

It would fit more with liquid funk and atmospheric/melodic stuff in my opinion.

I just couldn't imagine the hard/darksteppers stomping their feet to it..

its all about love....the pure essence of life is love according to Christ. To be honest thats what I feel when I get in the middle of a great party, the energy that is created and is lifted above all is pure love.

i wouldn't listen to christian-dnb, just like i can't handle god-rock, rap, etc. it's not for me.

however, i have not problem with god-fearing folks integrating dnb into their religious routines. during church services, it would be even more lively than southern baptist gospel choirs.

Fearing God was in the old testiment....see when Jesus Christ gave his life and died on the cross for us and our sins.....everything changed and we were no longer slaves. It went from fearing God to recieving his love and forgiveness.

God is about love and his message can be heard through whatever medium.

But, I will give credit to the Creator for creating this world and making it possible for the music we all love as known as JUNGLE - DRUM AND BASS to have been made.

But, are any of you gonna try to think about if it ever got incorporated...is there a possiblity of it breaking into beyond the Christian circles like into the actual parties we go to all the time?

I am saying Christian because it's one big ass religon with many subdivisons. I am not bother saying all of them.

well if someone throws religious references into the lyrics of a kick-ass track, i guess so. if an MC mentions god and people dig it...it could stick. many other genres do it all the time. or it may be ill-recieved by the party-goers. what if an MC became more like a reverend?

but yea, when i lived in Laguna Beach i knew this kid who was a devout Hare Krishna and he spun drum and bass. he made me a cd and he said it was Hare Krishna d&b. it was all atmospheric and s**t, not really my cup of tea, but still i thought that was pretty cool

Feelings, and sensations - yeh no doubt - music leves you with 'impressions'
but each individual experinces them differently and give such impressions and feelings different meanings...
Like for me, dnb (ragga-jungle spec) - is about rebellion, and struggle....More explicit in it's sound - then in any lyrical content...

its still a very radical sound - alot of people don't understand it...have trouble getting into it....

I actually own a Christian D&B CD - I got it at my local Christian bookstore. . .

Its dope - the artist's name is Trip - and they're out of England I think. The CD is from 95 or 96 - and it has some dope ass original drum and bass and jump up tracks. There are no "God" samples at all - just good s**t. The only thing religious on the whole thing is on the inside of the cover where it sez "This album is dedicated to the glory of God."

I'm not a super religious person - but I've got mad respect for people who put themselves out there for their "faith" Ragga does have tons of religious references - just listen to some congo natty tunes!!!!

And FYI - most Christian music does kinda suck - but I've heard some dope ass hip-hop and heavy metal from Christian artists thats totally blown me away.

Sometimes its nice to hear positive lyrics . . . even if ya got a little "God" stuff thrown in.

much of the rastafarian religion came from baptist churches influence in the late 1800's and of course the african rhythms that came through the slave ships unto the americas --all of it mixed --- but very influenced by the baptist church ---the bible ---specifically john the baptist who sum thought to be more integral than jesus himself being that he baptized jesus ---anyway we all know rastafarianism's influence on the island of jamaica and it's people not specifically the jazz musicians who emulated american r n b and created ska which turned into rocksteady which morphed into reggae which branched off into dub /-dancehall / ragga -------which jungle(the best of it in my opinion---i.e. tracks like "original nuttah" , "fire" , etc. ) is a direct descendant of .
Two comments/opinions ---- since it all stems from, in part, an influence in the positive sense of religion i find it frustratingly funny the touchiness of said subject . christianity itself is not colonial . it's just a word ---christ meaning god-like man ----it's not jesus' last name . there were many christs before jesus, horace i believe, supposedly being the first in recorded history . i myself growing up did not know this as i feared religion at a whole specifically genteel religions with waspy women and preachers screaming hell fury and brimstone and guilt and all the evangelism but i think it's time to take the terms back ! it's like the nazi swaztika was originally supposed to be a sign of peace and now it's all twisted and contorted to symbolize so much death and fear (i dont think it's time to take that symbol back ) . but as far as the word christ goes and religion i think people in general fear the very mention of these words , i guess , rightfully so , with respect to all the war that has been waged in their name which was really blasphemous but i think that we have to see the words for their actual meaning now and see that their actual definitions are not what they came to mean under the command of the forked tongues who hissed them for so long . it's like if you're having a discussion about quote unquote hip hop with someone who doesnt really listen to hip hop they keep siting , insert indiscriminate commercial rappers name here , and saying hip hop is all bling bling , hip hop is all sell out --- when hip hop has nothing to do with bling bling or selling out , if you know what i mean . hip hop is dope ! it incorporates bboying , dj-ing , graffitti , and beatboxin' , and rhymin aka emceeing or what the jamaicans called "toasting" ! ahh well not to get off on too much of a tangent here , this is half me venting half in the hopes of sparking further discussion comment 2 ; on tha flip if you know reggae or dancehall or dub ---you know how steeped in religious reference and influence that music is and it's DOPE ! So peeps need to wise up and not be afraid anymore to use certain words that may have religous associations or etymologies because those words have a power in them, they are tools like all words and can be commanded for either good or evil purposes , positive or negative . nevertheless it is up to those who know the difference to illuminate that . peace alll praizes due the mos high !

Actually once on the way to LA Red Octoberfest let me hear a cd that he said was a christian group that made D&B and Breaks. The Jungle sounded kinda like jump up-ish.....not bad actually, but I did fail to see a Christian message in it all.

I would think it's a great idea if GOD were to be incorporated with DnB. Cuz by having Christian DnB than that means the genre would have a more positive face to it.

Drum and bass is dance music. Leave the dogma and rhetoric of organized religion out of it. You're worshiping God for yourself .. not in the name of a religion.

There are some very ignorant comments regarding Christianity. Just because something is "christian" doesnt neccesarrily mean that its any more wholesome, "positive," or fulfilling than irreligious music.
