if it were a marketing ploy, then many underground artists would be ballin. and many arent. granted, i am the first to agree that many times ppl do try to use it as a marketing ploy, and they succeed. I love radiohead but i know that they have made an empire trying to sell how down and real and non sellouts they are. more power to them. however a big part of what i concider underground music is when an artist eschews conformity in order to make it, thus recieving less acknowlegement. they tend not to make it big and yet it is that love and passion for the music that drives them and they continue to share it because they love it. that to me is underground.

the underground? there is no such thing... i mean when was the last time you went to a 8-10 story empty building first floor in the middle of downtown la? besides the orion. im talking about fresh new venues... having a set venue every weekend isnt very underground. |
