weird but true, but our scene seems to get better, i went out to couple of gigs lately, and damn, s**t is shinning again in this scene, for the past 2+ years our scene has been struggling, but now a days, it seems that is comming back, i am diggin it, so i have to give mad props to the promotors who put time in it, for the love of the music, not for the money, which really got me away from the scene for a minute, so big ups for the producers, and dj's who are doing it for the scene.
*props
and one more thing, wreck crew, lets get another wreckognition, the real way, something that looks like the ones in 98-99, i loved the scene those year, april 99, wreckognition at la casa, woaw, rocked mad s**t, lets rock wreck crew, lets do another one
for sure mayra, i feel u yo, i love the scene from 98-99, damnnn, i dont see nobody at gigs from those days, rarely i see anyone, but i really do think that la scene is getting better, i was away for a while, not cause i dont like the scene, i mean s**t, i been listening dnd since 91, i did grew up in europe, and i remember listening to dnb at my bday in 92 , and my brother was dancing to it all corny and s**t, was so funny
but yeah, i am looking forward for the la scene if it gets back on track , and it will be more music oriented , not profit

Truth be told NO one makes money throwing parties in LA (if u think it is too much to get into a certain show it is due to cost analysis, not trying to ripp the scene so a promoter can put "20s" on their ride, ha). I think Bartenders make out the most cause everyone wants to drink regardless. IMO about 99.5% of promoters out here do it for love and just to be able to do another show.
billinaire, you're right yo, but it is true that for the past couple years, money played a bigger role for peeps who were trowing parties, but now a days is true the most money is made from drinks, which is cool, i dont mind that, i do wish that the la scene keeps going in this direction, it looks like it might have a good future
all i know is that "big" DJs in the house scene and trance scenes cost just as much to book "big" djs in the dnb scene. The average house or trance party a week will run u about $20-$30 whereas a dnb party/club will be $10. And keep in mind that dnb heads are some of the most critical when it comes to which talent they will see, sound systems, venue setups etc.. So on top of charging less dnb has to use unique sound companies which costs, rent venues that promoters hope to god to fill (which would be filled in 10 minutes if they brought in House Music or Trance etc.. Trust me promotion of parties out here is for the love and if money is made it is used in the next show, no one really "cashes out" u know .. .. .
true, its hard to make money of dnb gigs, maybe bassrush does make some cash of of it, but its well worth it, the best gigs of the year they throw them, anyway u do have a good point billonaire
Bassrush falls under the same thing that billionare speaks of....just on to the next event....its because of these promoters that persavere that we are now heading in a solid direction.....there are people involved all across the board that are in it for the right reasons, and those reasons are progression.
They understand that the rewards arent immediate and may not be in monetary forms.
When it all comes down to it it is actually all of us doing our part to make the scne go forward. From the promoters to the talent to the supportes. I mean if a lot of people come out and support then everyone makes out. The party has a good vibe because there are people there and it feels happening. The talent, the system and the venue gets paid. And the prooters dont have to count it as a loss. And if anymoney is actually made then it can go on to the next party and so forth.
I mean the way the scene is going to go in the fututre is all on us. We all need to do our part. Im glad slugger01 has gone out and seen that there were dope ass parties going on. Too many people been jaded, its not good to be jaded try being a little open minded and givin a party a shot you never know you may turn out to have a better outcome then before. It may even motivate you to love the music and the scene again.
DnB parties havent been expensve at all lately, if anything the promoters have been losing money or breaking even, I mean there was a time when things got pricey but the DnB scene had t break away from the rave scene and try and get things going on its own. And now that it is mainly completely seperated its all good, events are not pricey at all. But of course we are going to get our "pricey" events coming at us every now and then, but when that happens we shouldnt start talkin ish right away, we should sit there and think about the whole picture. Im sure everyone will see its not the promoters trying to make out with some money, its just the cost for that party may be a high one. If we all just continue to keep it positive and not pre judge in a negative manner without experienciig it first hand then everything will be okay. We need to support the scene on order for it to keep on, and if it means paying a little more $ every now and then I dont think people should be complaining, becase its not every party that is a lot of money. We all just need to keep it on the positive and realize that our actions is what shapes the scene.
Big ups to all that try and make things happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!
good one deacone, u spoke like a true politician, lol, but for sure you should look into another wreck party, man , we need to do one, where we should just do invite only, find a venue, some old warehouse somewhere, look for an old school venue, u should call the party"wreck is back"
