Commercial hip hop stabs in Drum & Bass
i'm particulary sick of commercial hip hop stabs in drum and bass. Like lame remixes that just have a drum n bass pattern. They suck and they butcher the true arts of Drum n Bass... i'm just saying this because it annoys me. Agree or disagree it doesnt matter to me... |

Yeah it's kinda lame. But are you saying that if an underground artist it would be ok? |

Re: Commercial hip hop stabs in Drum & Bass
I don't like it much either, like a lot of the missy elliot remixes and s**t like that. But certain hiphop would be dope remixed, like some del or f**kin el-producto. Or even the stuff from zion-i I like. |

Re: Commercial hip hop stabs in Drum & Bass
most are just poorley produced, but there are some good ones. Just cause its commercial doesnt make it crap. I think there are some pretty nice remixes out there useing some hip hop lines, its jus a matter of how u freak it. |

Re: Commercial hip hop stabs in Drum & Bass
Its a matter of personal preference. Even those "poorly" produced hip hop acapella remixes with drum n' bass lines are selling at record shops.... so they can't be that bad, if some DJ is willing to pay $9.99 for that white label record. |

i agree that nelly track has got to go! that s**t is played on the hiphop radio stations like once an hour...5 year olds around the country are singing that s**t. i really don't think it belongs at our parties. i thought we were better than that. |

Re: Commercial hip hop stabs in Drum & Bass
i dunno guys....its more like drum and bass synth sounds being used in hip hop....haha....anyways, i dunno about all you..but im down for remixes...as long as it still is rockable...anyways...what kind of stabs have you heard? there are some bad remixes but there is s**t like the stuff the mind muggas have been doing (the missy remixes) that have top notch production as a drum and bass track...built from the ground up using the same melody...and bad production is bad production whether or not it has the vocals from an underground artist or not...personally if i were to do a remix id much sooner use a commercial acapella cuz commercial tracks have vocals that are more oriented towards a danceable beat, rather than underground mcs that have irregular time signatures as far as their flows go. im not one to listen to commercial hip hop....but i know when things sound good to me...i'll still listen to anything timbaland makes, most outkast, neptunes beats still rock, etc etc. most undergound hip hop heads have such good beat production that they are sometimes hard to tell from commercial ones...(minus the high use of synths on some of the commercial tracks)...bottom line for me is, drum and bass is dance music, first and foremost. underground hip hop is not geared towards dancing, its geared toward making you think or pay attention to a battle or story...commercial hip hop is nowadays more towards the dancefloor...thats why the vocals are used more in remixes... but take away the vocals, and the beats only function is to make you move your body...whether it be a head nod or a booty shake....so why not use sounds from those beats? some people like commercial beats...i like some of them...and i make drum and bass....if it sounds good to me im gonna incorporate it....but thats just my opinion |
