Re: djs:what type of needles do you have?
It all depends what type of music youre gonna be playing and where youre playing it. Ortifone's are good for studio recording and sampling, they give good hi-fi sound. Just dont scratch with 'em cause they're super heavy and you'll burn up your records mad quick. As far as scratching/beat-juggling Sure M44-7's rock.nasteme you must have your 44-7's weighed out wrong, cause i can bang on my tables and they wont skip. |

Re: djs:what type of needles do you have?
no...it's not that they skip. it's just that the way the stylus is configured (you know, the freeform mechanism that lets the cartridge move around the stylus) is very delicate. after a while, the stylus starts to bend and tweak a bit...it doesn't track any differently, but it's fragile. with a trackmaster or stanton, you don't rally have to worry about it. |

Re: djs:what type of needles do you have?
this is what ive basically decided on, but just weighing out more options. : )
im not a big "one peice needle" fan, and these are way cute, and im painting my headshells red anyways. yes i know its probably the DUMBEST way to finalize a decision, but its ok hehe |

Re: djs:what type of needles do you have?
ahhh yes yes. you MUST have cases for Sure's or else you might as well not even own a pair cause you'll be buying new styluseses (styli? i dunno) every month or so. |

Re: djs:what type of needles do you have?
ortofones suck, the connectors aren't flush so they dont ground properly. ya always have to lick 'em and that leads to dirty connectors which can lead to even more problems in the long run. |

Re: djs:what type of needles do you have?
u dont need to lick em, if u want u can use a gel that wont rust ur connections, good response and they last a long time,
i have ortofon dj's
but if i were to buy a pair today id get the groovemaster II's, i like their sound quality and response, good on the base, jus make sure not to get any needles with an eliptical needle head, it sounds better, but they eat out ur records faster. |

Re: djs:what type of needles do you have?
SHURES OWN!
mine have been going strong for over a year and a half. they take mad abuse and they require less weight than the ortofons so your records won't wear as fast.
plus they are cute.
oh, and chrisK is paying way too much! |

Re: djs:what type of needles do you have?
i got the shures too but i never really researched them. they seem ok, but i asked someone who has mad experience. j-smooth, and he said he use to use shures too but they wore out his records too quickly, and i noticed my scratched records getting worn down really quick on some of my favorite samples. so i'm gonna go with the kid who got me in this game, he had the pink ortofons or some s**t like that, lol pink, awe. |

Re: djs:what type of needles do you have?
ortofon concorde pro, the red oval hed.
i've had the cartriges for 3 years no troubles, only have to change needles (comes with 3) a few times, with full constant usage. awesome sound out put, excellent tracking. they are a bit pricey but well worth it. i also love the slim head.

Re: djs:what type of needles do you have?
yeah that whole thing is cause of the eliptical needles, like i mentioned before, you got a lil oval needle head that fits into the grooves deeper then the circle head. Better sound but eats up the records quicker. |
