Scene Whores
I noticed recently, there are 2 kinds of people in our "scene" the kind that try to get to know people behind the decks, so they can get back there and look "connected". Then there are the motherf**kers that stand up front, stay up front, and rock the f**k out.
I am of the latter persuasion.

I get to know the people behind the decks cause generally they share the same interests as me. Plus as an aspiring DJ its good to get connected to different people making moves in the scene. I could give a f**k about how cool it makes me look.
At the same time you'll find me brockin out in front of the speakers breakin a sweat and shouting till I lose my voice.
And whenever you do see me either behind the decks or in front of the spakers, its definitely not for a photo op. |

I'm not talking about anyone who actually has anything to do with bringing it to another level, just the leaches who aren't there for the music. If you spin, or spit proper, you have a place behind the decks.

I do agree that as a DJ it's good to get connected with the peeps behind the decks, and you can tell who those people are. Their general interest is the music. However, I do understand what you mean about the people who get up there who act as if they are trying to prove their dominance in the scene to everyone by being a groupie. |

I totally agree, if you are a dj, it is totally is your best interest, that's how you get yourself out there, but thats having the common interest of the music. Not showing your friends how many websites you can get on.
Make known what it is you do.

I was just pointing out that obviously there a more then 2 different types of people in this scene. To generalize it to 2 different groups really isnt acurate.
Besides, who cares? Any scene involving any type of musical artists has groupies. Why complain? Just keep doing your thing and let them do their thing. I would hope that regarless of what type of person you are you're there to have a good time. Thats really what its all about. |
