Photographer's Challenge - Thrift Store Piece - Submissions!
Feeling like a challenge of sorts? This one's basic so join in and help create some art on this board.
All participants must purchase one item from any Goodwill/Salvation Army/Thrift Store/whatever. The item can be any item of your choosing, but can be no more than $10 (hey, we're all broke). You must then shoot your article in three different views/settings. Post your images in this thread and the winner will be chosen by myself. Winning criteria will be based upon the item you have chosen (how interesting is it?) and the composition of your shot (what does your shot say?).
Oh, what do you win, you ask? You win the satisfaction of being numero uno for once more in your life, and I'll kick in a $30 gift certificate to Aaron Brothers.

oh, and what I meant by "the same idea" was the doll thing. I saw one in a store a long while ago and had crazy visions of shots, but did not pick it up at the time. |

haha yeah..i'm always the guy the the big camera... and i just want to make it clear that i didn't use photshop to maipulate the shots... i set up my lighting and color balance to get the different temperatures and colors in the pictures |

well, I'm not really submitting this, but I found this little statue at a thrift store in Baja and I wanted to get it but thought it would get int he way... now I wish I had gotten in.
so... this is just for kicks. I might submit something but seeing where the bar has been set... I just dont know...

i have the pcitures but it will take longer than 3 days to develp, being that i dont have a digital camera and have to actually get this film developed (duh)
ummm anybody have a digital camera they can take pics of me so i can recreate this what i got? |

and please, I hope no one is discouraged to post by seeing Juan's photos. the point of this challenge isn't necessarily for the competition....
we just need reason to make ourselves create as a collective whole sometimes.
we need that friendly push from one another.
we need to find our own potential through the offerings of others.

First off, after seeing Juan's pics I got very discouraged and almost didn't put my pics up.
I got a reel to reel that doesn't work. Thirft Shop was Throwing it away, So I took it and donated 10 dollars.

JG is talented, and not even 21 yet!!! OMG! Imagine the skills at 30.
Nicotine, I LOVE that first shot of yours. I like JG's shots, but since I've seen essentially that same Jesus doll shot in similar fashion before, I'm digging the starkness of yours. (No offense, JG, I just get around, and it is a fabulous idea and great execution on your part).
Dude, my whole life is a thrift store. I could submit almost anything I ever shot and it would have thrift store stuff in it. But I won't. I'm way more into shooting females with thrift store stuff. hehe Not just the object. |

alright, here are my 3 pieces. I had told myself I would pick out the item I would least likely ever consider, especially for a photography challenge. halfway through the project I wanted to change items, but the little guy grew on me.
*edit: by popular junglescene and ilechoo demand, Material Girl has been replaced by Wish you Were Here. I got faith in y'all, don't let me down...
