Martin,
Your work has been somewhat of a precedence setting to the overall quality of what I feel my own work should live up to. Both you and Jesse ( aka Alaska - http://metaformstudio.net/alaska ) have mastered the art of efficient "dirtiness" and texture, a goal I often strive towards. Though your styles may differ a bit (yours has a bit more of a classic feel, while his leans a bit towards the new school), I find you both to be constant reminders of just what can be accomplished.
I think I saw one of your posters still up not too long ago. I believe it was over by the Paul Frank store on Third Street, if I'm not mistaken. If I am, my apologies. But seeing it brought a familiar smile to my face and I think I blurted out, "Yep, that dude's a bad ass," to myself.
I saw your new piece on Myspace and had to sit in shock for a second. If Giger only knew the influences he had on some poeple. =)
To everyone else, glad to see your stuff. Keep on truckin'.....drum+bass has never just been about the music to me. This is the one music that touched me as a culmination of all mediums- I see this music and a lot of visual art is what I tend to associate with it. The styles of d+b have changed, so I think a lot of the artform has given way to the dancefloor, buit there are still those times where I see the god damned music......and I feel alive. |

drips arwe like assholes, everyones got one and it usually stinks...
its an art form unto itself, used and abused by designers with no real composition skills...theres a right way and a wrong way to use drips its not so... abra cadabra. |

ok so now that we have your views of drips used in design, how do you go about it? ive done the scanning thing and the redrawing thing in illustrator. i just cant get the "mist" look in illustrator, and preffer redrawing most things in illustrator anyways. i figure its just a matter of sitting there and REALLY getting into it though. |
