I remember checking the LA weekly every week to see what sick talent I could only drool about.

I waited so f**king patiently to turn 21 and get in there, but of f**king course it closed before I aged.

I lost two fakies trying though.

i went to all those events when they had dnb....

best memories:

Seeing Kemistry & Storm perform for Kemistry's last performance in Los Angeles ever (she died a week afterwards)
I got to meet her! I even touched her dreads! You will be missed! Oh yeah, A Guy Called Gerald Opened up for them!
songwise, the best song they played was the Sci Clone "Everywhere I go" remix. i was soooo in awe!!!

Seeing Bryan Gee and Jumping Jack Frost and then going to Mel's Diner
down the street after the show was over to see them eat there!
That was way cool, i thanked them personally for a wonderful show!!!

Watching Lemon D and Dillinja play a banging set and then afterwards the bulk of people
in there waiting patiently to hear JOhn Digweed play afterwards,
I left by the time he came on, lol.


Seeing Aphrodite play: That night I was in a K-hole and i parked my car
in a the street where parking was only limited ot people with permits,
and by the time i got back my car was gone and had to walk to the towing yard,
about 5 miles away k-holed!!!! Big fun!!!

Seeing Grooverider and Fabio play awesome sets, and afterwards getting my picture done with both of them
as well as their autographs. Fabio called me Gerald and wrote that, lol.
Highlight was when he played Peshay's "Miles From Home" for the first time and I went crazy!!!

I remember seeing JOhnny depp dancing to the rhythm's
and enjoying himself immensely!

DJ Carbo was definitely NOT a highlight of any of that tho.
he sucked with his JOker records!!!! BOOO. Cockni' O'Dire was kinda cool tho!!!! boh!

i took some friends from London to the Viper Room one night because they'd heard it was a hot spot, and we ended up stumbling in to hear Fabio + 'Rider...

i was such a dnb rookie back then that i didnt even know there WAS dnb in LA at all - what a great night

[a side story was how i fell in love with Fabio's last track and had to ask him about it.. ended up being Carlito + Addiction's "Such A Feeling" - it was THE track that got me into spinning dnb.. too bad i had to wait 2+ years for it to come out on Creative Source, thanks Fab!]

I remember that show (grooverider+fabio), good times. Both cats were drinking champagne playing sick ass sets.
Anyone got pictures or flyers of Goldie Live p.a at the Troubador?

scoob has told me many a funny story of them times. i believe he and subflo used to play at some of them viper room shows. hes got some cool pix of bryan, frost and warren g w/ them headsets on. lol

of course i was like fifteen so no fun for me yet back then. just the mad mixtapes!

I got to open for Fabio & Grooverider, Blame, and maybe Dj Rap (its a bit of a blur!). In those days I used to take my minidisk recorder to gigs and record sets. I released Gunpoint live from there.
I remember being so nervous playing before F & G as they got there early and were hangin' out during my set!
Luckily Frost had just hooked me up with the Brazil ep on plate, I had a bunch of Crimescene stuff & I had "Spaced Invader" on plate!
True Fact....I was the first person to cut J Majik "Spaced Invader" to plate! I drove Jamie to Turnstyle so he could cut it (he'd just finished it before flying to L.A), and he let me cut it too...Big up Jamie!
The original is actually an instrumental which I still have. I also had some input on final version of the toon!
After we cut, we went back to my house, smoked a spliff, played it and Jame asked me what I thought. I was like it's dope, I wouldn't change a thing but drop a female vocal harmonising stylee over the breakdown. So he went back home after the weekend, dropped in the female vocal and the rest they say is history!

Looking at the flyers reminded me of the time at the Ritchie Hawtin show when Shawn the Indian doorguy from downstairs was mcing over the top of Carbo b4 Ritchie went on going "Drum & Bass, Drum & bass, Drum & Bass....you are laughing at me but i am making money....Drum & Bass, Drum & Bass!!! etc" Thats all he would say OVER & OVER!!! This went on for a while and peeps got so pissed they got booed off stage and Ritchie entered to massif applause!

Other highlights were Haze doing the Jim Morrison dance every week round the venue.
Drinking beers with Haze & Krush out in the parking lot next door behing the giftshop on the corner.
The parking guy always giving us deals cos we went there so much.
Leaving there one night and Johnny Depp inviting me to come in and have drinks with him afterhours (right after Fear and Loathing came out!!!) Seeing Ed Rush drop Alien girl.
Shy Fx opening with one of his patented custom "Live in LA" dubplates & drop Adam F " Brand New Funk."
Chillin' smokin weed with Mick & Julian in the downstairs bar.
Me and Haze ready to fight Big Ed & the entire security cos at the DB show the sound sucked and they wouldn't tell the soundguy! All they kept saying was the Viper Room was one of the best clubs & soundsystems in Hollywood and we had to leave!
Seeing Noir upfront and center screaming her ass off at EVERY show!
Tons more stuff that I can't recall....Oh me Haze, Krush and Loxy challenging deiselboy to a Soul Caliber contest, going back to the house afterwards and battling it out for hours!

I came to a TON of these...
i remember that groove n fab show you speak of Sam, where groove was in the crowd...he had that jumpsuit thing with the circles all over it hahaha
dillinja and lemon d. , j majik...lady miss keir playing 2 step (what a disapointment...ughh)...a bunch more my memory is blurry

and yes carbos sets were horrible...a full set of the aphrodite mash ups with the spirals on them ....STOP PLEASE!!!

i used to roll up solo most of the time. i would come up get wasted on vodka and red bull, drive to sd and be at work by 8 am LOL!!!
it sucked when they would shut down the 5 south`
