there is actually already something like this. I went to the AIGA next conference and they had a new segment in the conference called " command X" which was a project runway for graphic designers. the work was amazing and in spite of the cheese factor, the competition was extremely entertaining. the winner was a young girl who does AMAZING work and she was actually offered a spot by michael beirut at PENTAGRAM following the final show. pretty amazing stuff.
peep her work here, and the others too. the conference was in denver, the challanges were pre day, first, redesign the denver broncos logo, second, redesign the package for jimmy deans pancake and sausage on a stick and the final was to come up with a campaign to get teens to vote. the winner, michelle, had such an amazing solution for the final problem that you can still download pdf's from aiga for your personal use. CRAZY....
other crazy part, after she won, the girl turned down the pentagram job and all other offers to stay in her small home town in pennsylvania and do freelance!!! crazy...
