Muse flyer design contest!
Muse has become a force to be reckoned with in more ways than one- its longevity and vibe can stand alone in LA's drum+bass community. We have also put forth our best effort to build Muse as a unique club in the visual aspect with our flyers. The countless appreciative comments we are receiving for each event's designs have proven to us that our goal is well underway.
We would now like to extend the opportunity to the many talented designers on this site to become part of Muse's history by holding a competition for our next event's design. We want your best work put forward and displayed for all to see!
Here are the rules:

1. You must use the following image in any way you see it fit. This, and the text below, are the only elements that MUST be used. You have free-range on all other graphics and techniques. Go wild or stay minimal, just remember the basics of good design- it's all about communication and pleasing aesthetics.

Our flyers are only used for the web and usually accompanied by an informative post, which is why the bottom info is optional. If you feel it works in your design, use it. If not, do not worry about it. As long as the website is listed in good view, that's all that matters to us.
3. The design must stay within the confines of "750 width x 650 height" pixels. It does not have to be this size, but cannot be any larger.

Please post all FINISHED versions of your flyers in this thread, or email your work to: FALSE AT FALSEVISUAL DOT COM. Winners will be chosen by myself and judged on the basics mentioned above, and above all, PRESENCE and CONCEPT.
The deadline for all entries is Thursday, November 3rd at 2 PM.
The judgment and final decision will be made at this time. You may post your work earlier to receive feedback, then re-work it if you feel so inclined, but the deadline must be met.
Though there is no material prize to be had, your flyer will be used for one of LA's leading drum and bass clubs in flyer design. Exposure is never a bad thing!

I've usually been doing a "one-sided" type of design, where the concept has been more of a circus or concert poster than that of a flyer.
Feel free to do it however you please, though. The finished product should be no more than the above dimensions, however:

i really like the one submitted by funcrusherplus too, the man has amazing talent.... but between that one and the one by theanonymous1 - i would have to go wtih the latter because he just really incorporates the required image with his theme so well -

heres my design and some ideas on it...
a muse is something that inspires. A source that guides you down the path of creativity, helping you on your way to completing your idea.
Connect the dots acts a muse of sorts, presenting you with a clear route to follow finally resulting in a completed image.
I had a blast with this...

pretty straight forward on this design. I wanted the background to really be banging, with the text just popping off the page and easy to read.
I spent about two weeks working out ideas. At one point I had 250 layers going on before I flattened some of the background. I did a few others but they were just too busy as my design partner pointed out.
I have the ideas, but my execusion needs more work. Thus the reason I'm in school.

I'd like to thank everyone who participated. It's good to see different styles come together under the hint of a scheme, and the work seen here is a perfect example of that. The colors, the layouts, the techniques.....all great work.
But, there can only be one winner!
And that winner is AERO.
His concept was the one that jumped out at me from the first look, and even after several visits back it still has the same effect. Simple, clean, and effective. It has an almost "Vice" mag sort of feel to it with the photo graininess and spacious text placement/choice. This design was also the one that I felt fit the original image the most. It all tied together into one common theme. Excellent work, my friend. It's great to see you improve with every design, and I think the mindset behind this piece tells a lot about your capabilities.
Again, thank you all for participating. I'm sure I'll have another contest in the future.
