Grime music is defined by Wipikia as, "a sub-genre of urban music which first emerged in London in the early 2000s, primarily a development of UK garage, drum and bass, dancehall and hip hop. The music is typified by sparse and minimalist 2-step breakbeats, generally around 130-140 beats per minute, and an aggressive and fast rapping style - often in double time. The lyrics and music combine futuristic electronic elements; and dark, guttural, growling bass lines.". Back2Back Sessions is proud to have arguably the champion ambassador of Grime Music in the USA, The One, reppin' his style and this music on the series. Hailing from Oakland, The One is a major player in the Grime Music game, getting not only love here in North America but also from the UK scene. He is outfitted with the latest cuts from all of the heavyweight producers and has some of the top Grime lyricists respect as a DJ. His mixes have been on XM Radio, he was featured on Boosted Mobil Films and his talents caught the eye and ear of Photek and he is now an artist on the TekDubz Roster. Just recently he put out the highly anticipated and copp'd mix cd entitled, Heat Vol. 2, with TekDubz comrade Hochi. Get ready for the Grime!!!

Dubstep as of late is like a wildfire out of control and it doesn't look like its appeal is going to be slowing down anytime soon and one of the forefront DJs in SoCal pushing the sound is SamXL. Having copped his mixed CD, SMUT, I knew SamXL was pushing the big bass sound of Dubstep that has the basshead's noddin', the girls grindin' and the people steppin'. As part of the crew, The Professionals, SasmXL has already rocked the Dubstep sound at events such as Respect, Funktion, Samurai Sundaze and Smog Sessions. Having seen the appeal grow he decided to start his own weekly event entitled, Pure Filth (every Tues. night in downtown Los Angeles). SamXL's sets are simply very bass heavy and musical. From tunes with haunting vocals, to MCn' at the end of the day no one brings the bass as heavy as SamXL when he spins. Get ready for a bass heavy set from the 7'1 giant, Dubstep is here to stay and one of it's champions stateside is SamXL!
