Re: HOW/WHY DO U LISTEN TO GRIME/DUBSTEP?
I first heard it in Dave's(pawn) car and thought it was kinda weird.
But then after a 6blocc set at pure filth.........i was hooked!!!!
The bass and rythems are much more natural to me, and the 140-ish bpm leaves alot more room for different types of drum patterns than im used to with dnb.
And as far as producing goes, ITS DAMN FUN!!! |

Re: HOW/WHY DO U LISTEN TO GRIME/DUBSTEP?
My buddy, Chris, first showed it to me on the way to a Funktion in '06. He had been talking to a couple dubstep producers (can't recall who) and trading tunes. I totally dug it from the get go! Fell in love with the live energy and potential sound at the first SMOG @ Caseys. Pure Filth shortly came after with the WIN @ MJ Higgins - accompanied by a little Dubstep for LoLo by Ricky Def - this is what done did it for me.
The One and Steady really got me into the Grime sounds. |

Re: HOW/WHY DO U LISTEN TO GRIME/DUBSTEP?
...Me an the lads were down Cat an Fiddle one night smackin' down the Stella's, when suddenly we clocked wee Jimmy Breakage's Afro recieving some weird frequencies while he was scrannin' on his Fish & Chips. Pablo said sumfin' about that was dubstep and we formed the Professionals right there and then, Pablo said it was a "sign."
Two weeks later Pure Filth was born, and we spent the summer luggin' bassbins up & down some weird Speakeasy stairs everyweek downtown. All these really cool Dj's with strange names like Kode 9, N-type, Caspa, MRK 1, Headhunter, Mala and the like just started showing up everyweek wiv these fings call "Dubplates." Judging by the crowd's reaction these things were quite popular.
Thats how i remember it...I think.
Simple really. |

i started listening to it because it was really similar to some stuff i was making in the studio at the time already.. sort of fate i guess.
AND it reminds me of real jungle which is a gooooood thing.
now im hooked... |

Once at a 41DUB - i think it was DownnGoing that dropped a straight BANGER and some random fool inside actually started popping off one of those toy cap guns towards the ceiling...startled a couple people for a second then we realized how he felt. braaap braaap!
