i think its fascinating that china is hosting and that part i'm interested in. though honestly i keep forgetting its even getting ready to take place. my staff over there is constantly reminding me when i bitch about production time being extended, and not remembering that the government is forcing these factories to shut down two days a week in order to conserve energy and limit polution.
but yeah, not cheering for any side really, i don't really care about that. i'm just fascinated by china. |

not interested cause i am not (and i am a huge sports fan). YEah more interested in it being in China and everything politically and socially regarding but idk, just like 'ehhhh Olympics'. Just another event until college football season in my mind. There has been little promotion for the Olympics too it seems. Normally at the beginning of the summer there would be mad "personal"/"tear jerker" stories on atheletes going there...this year it is like "LeBron hurt his ankle" |

it seems like an overall lack of hype fueled patriotism... people are not willing to wave the stars and stripes with disregard to all the negative connotations it has become associated with recently.
The fact is that in the past we as americans reveled in our ability to piss off the rest of the world, thus making us the martyr of world super powers. Its an overall attitude change, people dont want to scream USA USA at the top of their lungs because it means something completely different than it did even 4 years ago.
Basketball is interesting to me because its character driven by individual stars, not just a big ad for uncle sam. |

^^basketball in the Olympics is always interesting because here PC critics get mad cause after a dunk or something bball players showboat, but its like "have u not seen a NBA game". remember when like Vince Carter got in fights with the team from Greece and doods were showboating. i didn't mind and thought it was funny that people in the USA are like 'ohh they are embarrassing'....like duhhhh have u seen an NBA game....if u hit a routine three u have to pose for like 15 seconds like u did something special~ |

Kinda excited... only cause I was training for the olympics as a kid for swimming. Actually got 3rd in the JO's.  We're gonna tear em apart in that area as well.
Be fun to watch the B-Ball, but so lopsided it could get boring fast.

i found this interesting... the other week i was at my bredren Mikey's casa and i was the only non-jamaican in a room of @ 8 people (all singers etc...some of them well known too) and they were all having a heated "watercooler" talk @ track and field (the sprinting races).....
I never thought people discussed those races in depth like they were talking @ football, or basketball......
so i guess people are talking @ it here and there... but the majority of us junglists probally don't give a damn about any sports.. lol

All I know is that opening ceremony was absolutely amazing!! From the massive screen on the floor that got bigger and bigger to the 15,000 performers that were completely insync throughout the whole thing. I was not excited for the olympics... but now I can say I am!! I watched it all night! |

Not to sound like a sap but I really think that the games are suppose to bring countries together. I mean it doesnt matter what games they play but just to have some friendly competition and have them compete against nations they normally wouldnt. I know some of the games are just stupid...like the horse trotting event but alot of the others are pretty dope!
We all have our own opinions for sure but I think we should be happy to see the olympics on TV and lets all hope that they'll be around for a long long time.

I can't believe no one has said anything about Micheal Phelps and how completely AWESOME he is!! He's at #11 total medals right now with 2 more races this evening!!!! WOW!! And at 24!! He's breaking world records left and right!! I am soooo addicted to the Olympics! The USA is in the lead with 27 total medals as of last night and we still have 5 or 6 more days! |

^^yes there are other important things but it is not as if u the world can't address those and still have a great Olympics. Sports are important. The Olympics are important. I initially didn't care cause i didn't know who was competing and thought they were going to be boring, but they mos def are impressive.^^

I dunno man, i think you need to pick your battles, sports is one of the things that helps people put aside differences. It may be phony and corporation driven, but on a certain level its the competition of amateur athletes. So many things to target in this world like religion, war, government, ignorance... etc. etc. and you make it so far down that list that now its sports that you're pissed at. cmon.
